Other Discussion / Firefox 3 is a piece of !@#$%
« on: June 19, 2008, 07:13:56 pm »
Add-ons don't work, it frequently stops working, sometimes it won't even go to websites so I have to restart it AGAIN, and now the Add-Ons list won't even open. !@#$% this, I'm getting Opera. And no, I won't try reinstalling. I shouldn't have to reinstall something twice or more to get it to work properly, and it's even worse when it's not just you, but multiple people who've had to reinstall it to get it to even work.

Polarium on DS. I swear, it's one of the best puzzlers I've ever played. Discuss.

I just remember it being damned difficult to get a good rank. I'll be damned if anyone here got an A.

When I first read about it, I thought, "Spyborgs?... Lame..." And I saw a few screens, and it seemed kind of like your typical kids' Wii game. Yet I hadn't seen the trailer. Now I've watched it, I can honestly say this game has potential. I want to know more about the fish, though.

Entertainment / Super Monkey Ball with Wii Board?
« on: June 03, 2008, 10:23:56 pm »
What do you think of the idea? Let's forget Banana Blitz's jump feature. But I think it could really work- since the game is all about precision and accuracy, you could kind of see what it's like being the monkey, since you're using your feet too (albeit a bit differently). Of course, it would be offered as an alternate control scheme, since it just wouldn't work in multiplayer (lol billiards). But I think it could work really well, and really draw you in it's pulled off right, which really shouldn't be that hard. Although I'm not sure how drastic turns would work, it sounds like it would be pretty fun to mess with.

The phrase "the Wii Fit", "a Wii Fit", and "Nintendo's Wii", which are all normally followed by an explanation of what they are, as if anyone doesn't know. Why can't they just say "Wii"?

Anyone else !@#$% irritated by this? Another form of gannon-banned in the making.

Entertainment / RE4 Glitch. Possible minor spoilers?
« on: June 01, 2008, 01:05:16 am »
So I'm on chapter 5-3, I think, the bit with the chopper after Krauser. I'm on the part where there's two levers to open the huge door, so after killing all the Ganados, I press one. I jump down off the platfor-

Oh, graphical glitch?
*runs, nothing happens*
It's just the evening background with mist all around. I'd better kill myself and start over, then. So I gather it's one of those glitches where you're actually just running at an invisible wall.
*fires rocket launcher*
It just keeps on going into the distance. So I realise I have to fire at the floor.
*fires at floor*
The rocket just went through the floor, I'm walking on the !@#$% air. I may as well run in a straight line for a bit and see if I can run out of this dead zone. After running for a short while, I look back and see just the same as what's in front of me, except a white hole in the "sky", about 20 feet above where the floor was supposed to be. I run up to it, and I can see the bullet/spotlight effects coming from where the helicopter should be flying around. I can see bits of debris on what was the floor, too. Oh, might I add I checked the map, and there was no map. I have jumped through the !@#$% floor. I've no idea how I managed it, but I jumped through the floor, and there is no way back up.

So in the end I just turned my Wii off. GOD DAMNED CAPCOM!

Other Discussion / Laptop will not connect to router- WTF?!
« on: May 29, 2008, 07:48:14 pm »
Ok, so I went into my router's settings to find the WEP, and I saw there were 4 fields for different WEPs to choose from, so I (very retardedly) entered another one in the next one down and chose that. After finding it didn't work, my laptop couldn't connect wirelessly, so I went back in via a wired connection and put it back, but now my laptop can't connect to the router at all. I get the same old message I might not be within range, blah blah blah. And basically I've !@#$% up. The thing is, my sister's computer works fine (the reason being I can get here), yet mine just absolutely will not connect. Halp? And yes, I do take this as a hint not to !@#$% with settings again, no matter how desperate I am for Xbox Live.

Other Discussion / Finding my WEP Key (Buffalo)
« on: May 28, 2008, 07:42:53 pm »
Ok, so I've gotten into my router settings, and I can find pretty much everything other than what my WEP key is. The damn thing's replaced by asterisks. I can find my IP address, the channel number, I know the encryption type (128 bit), but I just can't get to the key itself!

300 ruppees for whoever comes up with a solution that works!

Entertainment / Post-all-nighter Games
« on: May 25, 2008, 03:29:02 am »
Basically, if you've just done an all-nighter, during that really relaxed blue hour where all the birds are singing like they only do at that time, and all the street lights are still on, and it's completely silent, what game do you like to play? I like to play Pokemon Gold, playing it just has this real significance for me, I think it's from sleepovers with friends as a kid and we'd all stay up playing our Game Boys.

I got GTAIV last week, and played it for a couple of hours every night. The longest I played was 6 hours. But now I've downloaded My Life As A King, and I've been unable to stop playing for over 8 hours. It's 2:31 in the morning, and I just want this to never end.

The last game that was like this was Animal Crossing. Bring on Animal Crossing 2!

Entertainment / Storage Solution coming to Wii?

Q6 I am personally enjoying WiiWare and Virtual Console but feel Wii’s flash memory size is not enough and annoyed that I need to use a SD memory card. Will this situation be improved?
A6   Iwata:
Statistically speaking, it is true that there are a small number of customers who feel that the flash memory is too small, while many others find that they have plenty of memory. However, because this small number of people are none other than the most avid players, we know we have to review the best possible solution to eliminate their inconvenience.

So I'm trying to get Autoadminlogon working, but to do that I need to change the value of the DefaultUserName string to my username. The thing is it physically won't let me do this. In the guide that's all it says to do. The text field is grey, and the text cannot be typed in. Anyone got any ideas?

It's 4:10 am, I just completed it. No game has ever done this to me before, kept me up so late. Having played all 3 Primes and now I've completed this. I now love Metroid more than Mario, and it's on a par with Zelda at least. I can only hope Nintendo's big E3 announcement is Metroid Dread!

Entertainment / Nintendo Wooing Devs Away from XBLA
« on: March 19, 2008, 09:22:13 pm »
US,  March 18, 2008 - As it prepares to launch WiiWare, its original downloadable games service, Nintendo has apparently been trying to woo developers away from Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network. According to a report from Develop magazine, Nintendo is addressing concerns that have been expressed about the competition and painting a rosier picture for WiiWare.

Development for Nintendo's service is seemingly cheaper, and developers can be flexible with their pricing. The Wii hardware is less expensive and the SDK Nintendo provides is supposedly very detailed. A developer can purchase two to four Wii dev kits for the same price as one Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 kit. The company is also offering a higher royalty rate. Develop says Microsoft recently cut the royalty rate it pays developers in half, from 70 percent to 35 percent for games that earn less than $4 million. As a trade off, Microsoft is now handling some of the localization and worldwide rating work, but game makers are apparently still angry.

Another aspect of WiiWare Nintendo is touting is the fact that it won't be focusing on retro games, instead allowing independent developers to release new content.

"Nintendo has made it very clear to us that we'll not only be making a better royalty rate from WiiWare games, but we'll also have a better chance of selling games -- the service won't be clogged up with the retro titles that have blighted the chances of many independent studios on Xbox Live Arcade," an anonymous source told Develop.

Another developer who didn't want to be named says, "Frankly, we're not looking at making games for Xbox Live Arcade because the service is full of s***."

Entertainment / Squier Teles
« on: February 13, 2008, 12:54:25 pm »
I have my eyes on the SQUIER Vintage Modified Tele SSH Black, it's exactly the kind of Tele I'm looking for in terms of appearance and features, but a lot of the reviews are really mixed. So I've come to the conclusion that getting a good one depends on where you get it from. This is also the most expensive Tele I can afford, at about £270, and I have about £276 to spend on one. So I want to make sure these are actually decent first, and whether to look for something different. Or really, just the best Squier Tele £270 or less.
