I expect them to ignore half of the Dragonball mythos, and damn right too. It's goofy and annoying as !@#$%. The only way the movie could work is if they tried to be original and had their own take on it.
Hey, guess what? This is a modern update of a 24 year old manga series, and I struggle to see how that is, in itself, a bad thing. We'll have to wait and see for the movie itself as to whether or not it's good as a whole, but whatever.
