I decided to start spriting in FF6 style on a whim because I put everything on hold. Until after summer (I'll be going out alot in the summer).
Anywho, tell me what u think of my attempts.
They're not really for use yet because I haven't mastered the skill of FF6 styling.
(How on earth did Square Enix ever cope with this style?)
Row A - Tetiro
Row B - Swords
Row C - Cecil Harvey (DS Style)
Row D - Kekira
Row E - Ghost, Scarmiglione
Qs and As
Q - Attempts? There's only 1 attempt
A - The topic is updated as I make the sprites.
Q - Isn't that?
A - Yes it's Tetiro. I thought I would start with him
Q - Does that mean there will be a gam..
A - Not at this time there won't be. Perhaps if I get to like the style more I may make a tribute game to Square Enix's work. However at this point no game.

I finished Cecil (except for redoing the hair on the up direction) and Tetiro today. Though I fancy doing more, crits would be nice and maybe a suggestion on what character to sprite next would be nice.

looks great keep up the good work.

Glad you like it. I didn't think they would come out this good.

WOO! Another update. This time I've started on Kekira.

Guys I need help. My shading on enemies is rubbish and I dunno how to make it look right. Good someone please help?

FF6 style enemies are incredibly difficult D: I'd personally wait until your spriting skills are a bit more refined before taking them on.
Either way though, the best tip I can give you is to draw out your basic idea on paper, or sprite out your bone structure, then a silhouette of your monster. Apply basic shading outlines, and then start working off of that.

I reall do need to learn advanced shading don't I?

I reall do need to learn advanced shading don't I?
It's a bit beyond that even; it's a matter of knowing the general texture of your sprite's body, and using only 8ish colors to finish it :P

Mammy, you used to make some insanely ridiculous amazing FF6 enemies, right?
The characters seem good to me. I'm not really familiar with the style. It's the only Final Fantasy I haven't played through yet. It's currently sitting across the room from me, glaring, begging to be played. lol But what I remember from screen shots and things is that the enemies are super detailed compared to the character sprites. The cloaked figure you have kinda doesn't look solid, you know? It's a little flat. Like Mammy said, I'd work on basic structure and form.

I've given up doing the enemy sprites. They're way too hard and I am getting very stressed out at them.
