Compiled the Zelda 3 sprites off of the GBA ROM using YY-CHR. In the process right now of getting all the correct pallets (GBA) applied to the raw graphics. (Magenta = Done, black background = Not Done) The HUD and menu graphics are completed but on another image for now.

It's apparently all the graphics in the game except what is contained in the tile graphics and HUD/Menu graphics. Going to make normal "Compiled" versions of everything eventually. As well as offering multi-colored variants for each. Basically trying to make a usable graphics base for developers here. Spriter's Resource is an excellent site, but most graphics are not "Game Ready".

Also planning to do the same for Minish Cap graphics.

I'm also going to probably use aforementioned RAW resources for the project I'm currently making a proof of concept for. ZFGCreator, an application that aims to make easy point and click Zelda games.

Wow, that UI is pretty sexy, Xfixium! Looks fairly RPG-Maker-esque in a sense.. and honestly, I think it's a fine creation. The only point and click Zelda "game" maker that I've seen is the one based off of the Zelda 1 style. And it's meh.

Say, would you ever want to collaborate on a project? I've been interested in doing a full disassembly of Minish Cap.

Are you referring to ZC? I'm not down with it either.

That would be quite a bit of work. Which makes me wonder if any Zelda has been fully disassembled.

Xfixium, that game maker looks awesome! I feel like its gonna be some kind of localised revolution in the zelda fan gaming community. How do you manage to be doing such awesome stuff?

I'm definitely looking towards the community for suggestions and input when I release the prototype of the application. This has to be a balanced application. Easy as hell to use, but decently flexible.

Perhaps extensible? :P Meaning plugins, scripts, etc?

Tiled importer complete - my task now is to convert the system to use the programmable pipeline, then optimize the hell out of the mapping system. <_<

There's such a double standard about religion in the modern world. Catholics can gather, wear white robes, and say "In nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti" and be considered normal.

But if my friends and I gather, wear black robes, and say  "Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn", we're considered cultists.

I know there's been some work done on Zelda II at least. Seems like it'd be more effort than its worth to disassemble a Zelda game unless you really want to play a new Zelda on GBA with a flashcart :P

Well, I just want to do it for fun / educational experience. I like poking around at the unknown when it comes to code, so it kinda feels right to reverse engineer something. It was just a random idea I tossed around that would be an interesting (and almost never ending) project.

In light of an external hard drive crash costing me the uncommitted changes to my OpenGL engine (not GL-Zelda, but the personal project I've been working on), I've decided to start playing around with Direct3D again. More importantly, the custom theme I've got going with Visual Studio is sexy, and I wanted to show it off. :3

The GL-Zelda tutorials will be kicking back up after I move to Arizona in about a week.

Oh man, this is awesome. You cannot find half of these sprites in sheets anywhere.. especially on various enemy directions and animations. The colors are wonky, and the GBA palette, but easily fixable.

This is going to help me for reference on my project!

Glad it can be of some use. It's just easier for me to work with VBA for graphics. Eventually I'll play with the pallets and offer the original colors. It was a lot of fun to see the raw sprites for this game, and go through playing it to the end. It's been awhile, lttp has always been my fave.

I figured I'd update a little on the ZFGCreator project as well. I have been working on it with the free time I have. Wiring up some of the objects at the moment. Trying to make it simple and decently flexible.

Reviving topic since I haven't posted anything in a while.
Started programming on an old-school inspired RPG.  Using mostly placeholders/edits of Final Fantasy 1,2,3 from NES.  Using my own 8 bit renditions of various well known songs from rpg games.  Spent a total of maybe 3 hours coding from scratch with Game Maker 8.1 to get a solid prototype together.  In that time, I have finished battle transitions,4 direction movement exactly like NES FF games, camera controller, and ocean/water controller(the water in FF games wasn't a simple background moving, it was 1 pixel lines).

Anyway, two screens for your viewing pleasure.

Working on bones animation in Game Maker 8.1. Successfully got the bones all jointed together and all rotations work without flaw.

(just realized that the screenshot doesn't show up unless you're logged in, btw)

Not a game unlike what everyone else is posting. I was convinced to post a screenshot anyway.

Yes, this is that new IDE people have been talking about lately.
