Title: [WIP] Cragma MC Style
Post by: Sinkin on November 25, 2010, 08:34:27 pm
Had nothing to do today since it's snowing like !@#$% here and can't get anywhere.

Le' sprite in the attachments. Still a wip though and only the head.

C+C, before I go any further?

Last update for today. Needs some work on the metal plate on his head.

I likes it! My crit is that there is too much black on your top lines, and not enough on your bottom lines ;)

Awesome sprite and as strange as it sounds, this boss can be done without great difficulty in 2d in terms of programming

Thanks! Fixed the black outline and started to work on the body, made some small fixes on the metal thingy on his head.

use this one as reference of proportion.

the base of the neck is wider.

 XD

Thanks for the reference and I know that the neck is wider. The rock under his head is just the first base.

Wow I remember that guy.  That was one of my favorite boss fights in Spirit Tracks.  I love the whole riding the carts around him.  It kind of reminded me of Indiana Jones. LOL.  The sprite looks great guys keep it up.

Thanks Blud, and here's some progress. Made the neck wider but it's not done yet and I'm going to start making the arms now and after that finish his lower body.

I was wondering who or what Cragma was, but it is just Vulcano. Yeah he was one of the best bosses in ST.

Made some progress on the arms but they are not done yet.

You should make that ring-thing on top rounder.  DJ had it perfect.

Maybe consider changing the body colour.  First of all, it's not even close to the picture Leduardo posted—which I can only assume is how it appears in the game—and it looks a bit like it's made of cheese.  (http://www.zfgc.com/forum/Smileys/takam/tongue.gif)

The thing is that the metal thingy on his head isn't round, it's a bit arrow-like. And for the color, the problem is that I don't know the original color of him since you are fighting him in a dark room were only the lava lights it up a bit which gives no strong light to exposure the real color.  :P

I see.  Well then, forget the comment about the roundy bit.  Maybe make it less round?  That's an idear.  Because right now it looks like a badly drawn circle.  (http://www.zfgc.com/forum/Smileys/takam/rolleyes.gif)

I tried playing around with the body palette, but it doesn't look very good.  You shouldn't use any of these as a final product.  I can't bother with it anymore right now though because I'm tiiired.  z.z

My suggestion would be to refine his arms. I think what is giving off that "made of cheese" feeling is mostly because of them. I would also shape them a bit differently. As from the artists rendering, it looks like the actual arms are skinny cylinders, and the forearms are bigger in relation to the arms.

The arms were just a test to see how the actual sprite would look, so they will be definitely changed.
