Entertainment / Re: ACen 2009 in Chicago
« on: May 11, 2009, 02:49:26 am »
ACen was really fun! I got back today in the afternoon and I was so damn tired I collapsed on my bed for a good 7 hour nap.. Sadly I didn't go to any of the panels at the convention but the masquerade (for the cosplay/skit) and the Soap Bubble rave was freaking awesome! Oh and I got to hug pedo bear! :D

I look retarded in the pic though.. ~__~; I need my friends to send me pics of me and them from ACen but yeah it was all fun. =D

Yay ACen =D I'm going with my friends after my AP test ^_^ I'm not really cosplaying, but i'll be wearing a formal kimono, swords and all just for the fun of it. ACen is actually not in Chicago, it's in Rosemont which is a suburban area less than an hour away from Chicago but yeah it should be lots o' fun :D

I actually have to say, Kren's version of the castle looks much better. The original one looks really well, plain and far too symmetrical... The map is coming out pretty well, but the desert also looks really HUGE. Can you imagine having to roam around a giant desert where there's not much going around. Even if there's enemies and traps, that's still going to be annoying to walk around.

That looks much better, Kren! I do think there's just too many trees though, and it would be okay if it wasn't all the same trees, but I know that.. nature sprites in GB games are a bit lacking but it looks great!

I also do feel that it looks a bit too symmetrical still, and it just seems to be missing something.. I know you're going for simple but is it too simplistic? There seems to be way too much "open area".. Perhaps try adding more bushes and maybe some rocks?

I like the second one more because I don't really like it when sprites have perfect side views and front views and all that.

Dang, you seem to be popping these out like nothing, and this one like the rest look amazing! Too bad Nintendo didn't have you on their team when they were developing the Oracle games. =P

Wow, I think that one's my favorite one. For a style that's so simplistic (GB), you've done such a great job with the colors and the design. Even though it's a fairly small map, I really like and it looks awesome.

That is a bit screwed, but honestly, what's the point in fixing it? Either this forum will be gone in a month or there'll be a new slate.
Aww that's kinda sad.. :(

The fourth one (with the dark grey background) looks nice. I don't really like the fact that in the others ones except for the second, the text is slightly blurred.. Was that intentional?

That's actually really cool! The goron looks awesome and the mockup window is cool too lol

My only major thing is with Link's front pose.. The way he has his arms out like that, it looks as though he's terrified or petrified? Most of everything else looks really great though.

..Is that a clown though in between the Zora and the Deku..? XD

lol when I first saw the map, I also thought it was a Pokemon map or something before I maximized the image. I mean it's a decent start however as Hoffy and CrystalAngel has mentioned, your map does seem to be lacking. Try working your way with a smaller map area so that you're not trying to make a "large" area look good because as you can see, the roads in the map are HUGE and there's a lot of blank spaces. Also, there's no "transition" between some of your ground tiles such as road to grass, and just try to make the buildings more maybe close together so that it doesn't look overly spaced, or add a variety of different ground tiles so that there is more variety/detail. Using the same tiles over and over again with similarly structured buildings are no fun. It is a good start though, you just need to add more details and think about the structure of your town.

Graphics Requests/Archive / Re: [Request] Inventory Screen
« on: March 11, 2009, 12:20:50 am »
I mean like how in the inventory in LTTP, the items/equipment almost has an.. "8-bit" coloring to them? Kinda like this:

My question is, would you do this kind of style too into your inventory? Just a question of detail and whatever.
