a lot of the MM9 screenshots look worse than the later NES games. Where's my beautiful 8-bit backgrounds?

So what! I wanna get out! 'Cos there's so much out there! So many different people, living different lives! Incredibly good guys, bad guys... Folks completely different from us! It's one huge melting pot! See, it's not about success, dying in the streets, who's better, who's not! I just want to be a part of it! I realized that even if I've no connections, no talent, even if I'm one big loser, I want to use my hands and feet to think and move, to shape my own life! We can just die here or we can try, see what we've got!

The charge shot is gone as is the slide; they're going for a feel like the first 3. When all Mega Man had was the Power Buster. Also, Inafune wants to top Mega Man 2 as the best in the classic series in terms of replayability and music. So of course it looks worse than later NES games; he's going for the feel of the first few Mega Man games which were early NES games.

You are entitled to your opinion, and I respect your opinion. Also, an NES rom heck is being made based on MM9, can't wait for the completed version.

I don't have a source on me. I'll see if I can find one later. I've definitely read multiple times though that they're unlocked through gameplay like in the X series.

I don't understand what's wrong with designing a game in 8-bit graphics O_o.

If it's what the developer wants to do, if it's what they want their game to end up as, if it's what they want to see as their finished artwork, then... why right do you have to criticise it?

I have every right to criticize them for being lazy money grubbing whores.

It's a great business plan though.

EXACTLY WHAT I'M SAYING.

And all you fanboys who want to relive the NES days?

Dust off the NES, or boot up the VC. But for !@#$%'s sake, there's no need for a major software developing company to release a new, commercial on three consoles, that does nothing but reuse 20 year old sprites and does nothing to reinvigorate anything.

Sure, you want the glory days back, but there's better ways of doing that. I mean, New Super Mario Bros. pretty much did that for the NES Mario, only it didn't look or play like a cheap maphack; no, it was a new game that managed to instill a sense of nostalgia without being a carbon copy of a game that only looked and played the way it did because it was impossible to make better games. Hey, guess what, we have the technology. We can rebuild the !@#$% game, and make it something much better, not the same old same old from 20 years ago.

Okay I ranted a bit there, but still, you get my point.

Did you even read the interview excerpts? I understand you don't want it and don't like the idea of it, but at least read it! And they remade the first Mega Man game in 3D for PSP (same with Mega Man X) but the reason there's no Powered up! 2 and Maverick Hunter X2 is because of poor sales. They're hoping that the classic style graphics (and sound) will sell better than the poorly received 3D versions.

PSP isn't exactly the most successful handheld, y'know.

so you're wrong.

Well, I'm not wrong about poor sales. Whether it was due to them being on the PSP is another matter. I know the PSP is unsuccessful, you don't need to tell me twice. Don't tell people they're wrong when you basically agreed with them (unsuccessful system = unsuccessful games!).

I loved Maverick Hunter X. I'd prefer a 3D remake over the NES graphics any day.

I'm telling you you're wrong because that's not the reason they're making mm9 like that.

Okay, I misinterpreted why you said that. My bad. The reason they're making it like that is for the fans, and because Keiji Inafune has always wanted to, and can now. Says so in the interview excerpts.

Eeh, so much argument over a silly game.

See, for me, Megaman 2 was one of my favorite NES games. Simple, side scrolling, 8 bit platforming. For me to play a _new_ game that's in the same style is not just a walk down memory lane. It's also something fun and enjoyable for me to do. I go back and play Megaman 2 on my NES emulator all the time.

'Glorified Fan Game'? Maybe. Regardless, it's not like they're charging fifty bucks for it. I'd gladly pay a few bucks to enjoy some classic platforming. I'm just glad to see Capcom doing it. Just because it's 'old and done', doesn't mean it can't be fun. I'm just hoping Sega is paying attention, and perhaps I'll get a follow up to S3&K ;)

My point is this: If you think it's dumb, don't buy/play it. Cause I will. And odds are, I'll enjoy it :)

Exactly. I'm a fan, and I approve.

I think it's going to go for 1000 Wii Points. Or 10 bucks. If you're a Megaman fan, check out RPM. It has all you want to know about Megaman, and news about MM9.
