Isn't that much better than a sprited background? If you agree, raise your hand (if anyone is even still interested in KR anymore. :( I had to beg moldrill to post in it to bump it to the top again. :P)

The trailer looked a bit plain, but I can imagine how fun this will be once it has enemies. I really, really, really love that background.
A few suggestions though:
1) By the looks of things, the bat's movement had no effect on Kirby's speed. I think it would be good if when the bat was moving left and Kirby hit it, it gave Kirby a bit of 'left' momentum.
2) Different types of blocks, though I'm sure you've considered this already.
3) A better 'block disappearing' transition. Not too keen on the current one.

I want to play it. Now.

Some answers for you!

1) The way I have PadPon now is so when Kirby hits him it makes Kirby bounce against solid objects precisely and also add an upward motion of 10.3 (just right!), but I'm working on a more complex solution.

2) Well, of course there'll be different blocks. Namely ones that only break when you use a certain ability on them (these would not be required to clear the level of course)

3) Meh, the current one I just did with the filter in GM's sprite editor, so I'm not to choked up over the fact that it isn't too popular. Besides, if I want to set the bar for this genre it has to look the best!

So far it works pretty smooth, so your wish to 'Play it. Now' might be answered soon. ;D

Phooey. I have a mac that cant play windows games. Ah well, I know that I can play it on Moldys. I guess the background looks okay.

Also people i showed him how to make that watermelon and i came up with various parts of the story and i helped him sprite kirby. Yea. i didnt just shade the brick. :P

I feel special. Im the only one on ZFGC other than Moldy who has played the new KR. Tis fun. In fact its awesome! Once he fixes them spikes DEMO 1 will be realeased. :jellytime: in the meantime I feel special

 :( :( :-X  :'( Kirby Rebound just (for no reason) broke... Even the backup broke. It sucks.  :-\ At the moment Moldorma is working on getting it back to current status. Now all he has are soome of the sprites. So much for a demo coming out soon.  :-* oh well. It shouldnt take too long...right?

Hey guys! Sprites, backgrounds, and sounds are back in working order. Now I have to add the objects. I still have expectations for a demo soon though, so no worries. ;)

Haven't played it yet, but here're some graphics crits based on the screen:

What happened to the 3D-ish block? The only one with perspective now is the paddle, and they look awful on the same screen since the perspective is different.
The background doesn't have that gradual, no-dithering, limited-colors shading that the bricks have. The bricks look great and that style should be implemented universally ASAP!
Also, Kirby's color is too similar to the brick's, and the border and spikes are odd and don't fit the style.
