I have a question though...
I want to make the player say something like:

Zelda: Hi every body!
Message(????": Hi every body!")

but how do I do that? I CAN make it like this:

Hallo, how are you today Zelda
Message("how are you today"+global.name)

anybody knows how this works???? :o

Have you got the font sprite in your game? Is it called the same as in the example?

Hmm, interesting. I don't know what could be causing it. After you merged it, did you try running the test object and the test room on their own?

You want a little option box to come up and offer yes or no, for instance?

I can only think of doing yes or no for now, but you could easily change it.

First we need a sprite for the option, I made it the sprTextMore on its side. But don't add it as another sprite, we want it in the text, so, as it was the first missing character I found, I put it in the 90th image of sprFont. Then, do the same again, on the 91st image, as it is also blank, but as the character for the option we haven't selected. I made this the same but transparent in the middle.

Show the message of the question in the normal way. Then, put this code for the question:

Code: [Select]
var choice, strstr;
choice=0

while keyboard_lastkey!=vk_enter { //Keep looping until they press enter

//Depending on their choice, add the right special characters
strstr=""
if choice=0 strstr+=chr(123) else strstr+=chr(124)
strstr+=" Yes "
if choice=1 strstr+=chr(123) else strstr+=chr(124)
strstr+=" No "

scrTText(32,160,242,3,strstr,c_white,100) //Show the message at full speed

if keyboard_lastkey=vk_left or keyboard_lastkey=vk_right choice=!choice //If they pressed left or right, change their choice
}

Message("You chose choice "+string(choice))

Here we have the variable choice equal 0 or 1, 0 being Yes and 1 being No.
We add chr(123) and chr(124) because they're the 90th and 91st images, and the font starts at 33.

Is that what you wanted?
