Other Discussion / Ubunutu + iPod?
« on: August 09, 2006, 01:22:12 pm »
Question one: can Wine "emulate" iTunes?

If not then the second question is how can I get Ubuntu to work with my iPod? GTKPod sounds like a good way of going about it... but I don't want to have a seperate "podcast aggregator" software. Hell if it's not too difficult I could probably work on merging them myself, lol.

Thanks alot.

Discussion / What is taking Mark so long?
« on: June 25, 2006, 06:58:52 pm »
Game Maker 6.1 has been out since May 29th 2005, so it's been over a year. What do you reckon Mark is actually doing with all this time?
Massive holiday perhaps?
Or, dare I say it, working on compiling the code?

We've had quite a long wait, so I'm quite perplexed as to what is taking so long.

Entertainment / Lost Season Finale (SPOILERS)
« on: May 25, 2006, 07:18:39 pm »
I think I brought your plane down

:O
Dun dun duuuuun.

Well that's a revalation, though I really don't think it was quite a good a cliffhanger as the one of season 1. I almost thought that I'd got something else when I saw the last minute though, but then we saw penelope.

Looks like someone might just come crashing the lost party. :)

And about "The Pearl" actually being the psychological experiment, I'd figured that that was the case before. I actually joked to someone saying "Wouldn't it be funny if they went to another hatch and found surveilence on 'The Pearl' and the orientation goes - 'This is a psychological experiment' "

Anyway, what did you guys think?

Entertainment / PS3 Marketing Discussion
« on: May 21, 2006, 04:51:11 pm »
So how do you think they're gonna sell a product for 1000 aussie dollars?

Well lets do some of the work for them. Here's mine:

"Sell your soul.
 Buy a PS3."

Okay that's a little spammy, but in all seriousness how do they think it's gonna work? I was listening to a podcast this morning (1up) and they say that sony's of the attitude that they could practically sell 5 million units without making any games o_0

Entertainment / The Wii media PC?
« on: May 14, 2006, 04:39:10 pm »
Wii will probably have at least the potential to be a great media PC.
Once you have attached a HDD to the thing, if the software allows, you could view pictures, films, listen to music etc.
And of course you've got DVD playback.
If Nintendo did this it'd be the cheapest media PC on the market.

Coding / [Request / Solved] Changing title later in HTML
« on: May 03, 2006, 06:13:06 pm »
Is it possible to change what the title is later in the HTML?
My code currently doesn't check what the page it's loading is until it loads the content, at which time it requests the title, and I want it to set it there.
Is there like a PHP header that would do it?

Discussion / Pixelist - 22/04/06
« on: April 22, 2006, 10:26:00 am »
Pixelist. A spriting programme. Pure and simple. Now suited for isometric pixelling with it's brand new snap to iso line tool :D.

Previously written in allegro, it has been rewritten for the c++ library wxwidgets, giving it a more native feel.

Feature List:
Line tool
Isometric Line tool (press shift during line tool)
Pencil tool
Zoom tools
Palette Editor
Change all colours of a certain colour (in palette) to another. Simply edit the colour which is in the palette.
Preview window.
Scrolling  (no bugs).
BMP saving.
PNG saving.
Image size changing, complete with placement of old image.

NB: I purposely made it so that it doesn't load or save to JPEG because nobody likes JPEGd sprites and loading JPEGs creates an absolutely massive palette of inaccuracies.

Download it here.

Soon to be added (Not necessarily in this order):
Animations (hopefully)
Palette Exporting
Grid
Clipboard functions.

Taking the starting position of this as 0,0 (for ease, and the fact that you can just add anything on to it anyway), how would I draw a line of angle theta and length l?

It's been annoying me because sin and cos only range from 0 to 90, not 360.
Help please.

Coding / [Request / Listing] Making classes as templates
« on: April 15, 2006, 10:55:27 am »
Hey, I've been using wxWidgets for a while and in wxWidgets your able  to make your own classes based off of other classes, ie:
Code: [Select]
class myDialog : public wxDialog{
...
};

And I was wondering how I would do this myself, as in create the template class, I tried making a normal class and then using it as a template, but I could never get it to compile.

Help please :).

I have an array of pointers to objBlocks:
Code: [Select]
objBlock * blocks[3*15];

I want to pass a pointer to that, to a constructor, so that my class can use it, and delete them.
Simple.
But I need to know what the prototype should be. This is my call to the constructor:
Code: [Select]
objBall ball(112,80, &bar, &blocks);
But currently the constructor is:
Code: [Select]
objBall(int x, int y, objBar * bar, objBlock......

Fill in the end :-p.
Pointers with me is a love hate relationship

This place really should be just general fiction etc, cause it's a little limiting and there's nowhere else to post this kind of stuff.

Discussion / Isometrics
« on: April 05, 2006, 12:27:50 pm »
Can someone please explain to mean why the angle of isometrix is 25.565 instead of 30. Because by my logic the sin of a 2x1 triangle (sin(1/2)) is 30. And I don't see why it should be 25.565 even though it is.

Entertainment / Advance Wars DS
« on: April 04, 2006, 01:16:04 pm »
I got this yesterday, with a little birthday money.
Does anyone else think that the sound track absolutely rocks?

It's a little slow to get into to be honest, I've only just got to the black boat section, but at least I can build Neo Tanks now. Or I could if I had a factory.
Still it's as challenging and as fun as the original 2, but I do agree that the stylus control simply isn't needed, I find myself using the D-Pad from time to time.
