I love my PS3. Don't really care if it loses Sony money as long as I get good games. ;)

You can't blame them. I mean, as awesome as PS2 is (!@#$% awesome console), they are going to need money for the PS3, and they can't really expand on the PS2 without making it like the PS3, so there really isn't anything to do with it.

Though, I'm sure it's possible to further on the PS2 a bit more, they are going to focus on their next-gen console much more. :(

Clearly they should've invested it in the ps1.

I was wondering when they'd hit that mark. I wonder what they'll do for the PS4 in 10 years time or whenever...

They invented the technology, they get licensing fees for the players and movies made.

The PS3 will pick up eventually. I think it's in a Dreamcast situation, but I'm fairly sure they'll get out of it, and it will sell decently. Not as well as the 360, but still really well.

Being in a Dreamcast situation... not lookin' good. But I loved the Dreamcast...
I actually hope that they do just about pull through, because it gives the Video game market some challenge and variety.

The latest console era is a joke. Video Games have similar costs to make as Movies do, and it is getting seriously out of control. The only reason Sony and Microsoft can afford to get away with it is because they earn so much money elsewhere. The next console era is either going to have to take a step back and realise they can't actually afford to make any more upgrades, and should instead just focus on making the existing hardware cheaper.

I love my PS3. Don't really care if it loses Sony money as long as I get good games. ;)....:) :( :'(

Fixed.

The only good thing Sony came out of the ps3 with so far is the blu ray format -.-

Personally I don't see a big jump between the quality of DVD and Blu ray. Not like there was between VHS and DVD. Id have been happy waiting a few more years with DVD/HD-DVD so something huge could happen.

Probably because you're not using an HDTV.

I didn't see it at first either, then I saw a side by side comparison on an HDTV and I was like O_O

And as such, I am now getting a blu ray drive in my new computer XD

Anyway, I don't think you'll see much happening with HD-DVD.  The production on it stopped.

No, it was on a 32 inch HD flat screen TV thing, the whole deal. Awesome sound system aswell, but thats beside the point really. The image seemed a bit sharper, but not enough to launch a media revolution style thing that DVDs did.

Yeah I know, I just don't think DVDs gonna fade out that quickly. But hey, I might be wrong, i'm only a 17 years old making a guess.

If I recall, Blu-Ray discs hold MUCH more than DVDs.

Not only that, but you can browse menus while you're watching a movie.

Why all the hate against the PS3?

  "No good games...rarrrr!"
Um, all the games I bought when I had my PS3, I enjoyed very much.  I think you guys haven't really tried much and just take for gospel what others say.

I loved MLB 07 THE SHOW, Oblivion, NFS:Carbon, Rainbow 6:Las Vegas, and even the shitty scored Gundam:Crossifre.

How about some of you people ACTUALLY go out and BUY a PS3 and really play the games yourself instead of standing at a store for 2 minutes or listening to what every magazine says about such and such game.

I am going to buy my next PS3 with MGS4 in about a week when I get my next check.

Holding a lot more doesn't really help a lot when your at the quality we're at today. I mean if anything VHS tapes looked better when it came to computer animation. The sharper the images get the more fake any computer animation will look. Honestly I don't watch movies for the sole purpose of the eye candy in the movie so DVD is fine for me. 'Specially when blu-ray discs still cost 10 bucks more and I don't have an HDTV  :'( If Sony buys me a HDTV I'll buy a blu-ray player or PS3 :D

Uh-huh. And how many of those games are PS3 exclusive? If I have an Xbox 360, what games out there are only for the PS3 that I would like, that are good enough to justify buying another games console?

I mean, I have R6:LV 1 and 2 on the xbox 360 already, Oblivion modded the hell out of (and therefore 100 times better) on the PC, I don't like racing or sports games. That Gundam game sounds like the best PS3-only game I've heard of so far XD

They do, I think they hold up to 50Gb, but I never watched a Movie and thought "hmm. This would be better if they had a load more space on the disc."

Yeah, and DVD games suck, can't change that with more space. Such crappy quizzes...

I mean, what video is going to take up 50GB worth of space? Okay, being able to fit the entire Star Wars saga and sell it as one DVD or do something similar is a nice idea, but that seems to be the only use for such space.

If the hardware evolved just as quickly, mabye they'd use models with 4 or 5 times as many polygons as they do currently. But there's no way the hardware at the moment could render complex scenes containing numerous of incredibly detailed models in real time.

I'll say the same thing I said to Swiftu :P

"You don't own an HDTV, do you?"

50Gb of HD video isn't really much :p You're more than doubling the original video side, and increasing the audio quality. You probably use about 30 gigs in (uncompressed) video alone on a BRD

I own a HDTV (I think it's like a 28''), just not a HD-DVD player. I have my Xbox 360 set to HD, but to be honest, I don't notice too much difference between the HD Xbox 360 and the regular settings, but then again I'm not a very observant person.

As far as I can tell all higher resolution does with videos is let you see everyone's imperfections and flaws. Great for feminists who think making actors look too pretty causes all the worlds woes, not too good for watching porn ;)

Okay then, go play pretty much any PC game on low resolution and then play it on high and tell me there's no change in quality. You must be blind.

Do you have the 360 hooked up through either component or HDMI?

-.-  Even I notice a huge difference between DVDs played on a player or my 360.
I use the RGB cords for my HDTV because I don't have the HDMI for 360, but it stretches the picture alot better than the dvd player does.

Hell, how much better can 1080p be?  I am getting 720p and I am just fine with it and sometimes I hate it because now I can see graphical glitches, flaws, etc with the crystal clearness.  lol

I don't have a HDMI cable, so I use a HD RGB thing. Anyway, I can't usually tell a difference in graphics until I make a huge jump like from 800*600 to 1280*1024, to me 800*600 and 1024*768 look pretty much the same. I tend to play on lower resolutions as a result.

I guess the jump from regular LCD screen to HD LCD screen is just too small for my mind to notice (remember I'm the kind of person that takes four hours to realise someone has died their blonde hair black, so I'm not very observant).
