I don't think anyone's made a topic for this yet, but has anyoned played the new Tenchu game for Wii? I haven't gotten a game for wii in months and I thought I might get this.. Is it worth getting?
And please don't say no just because it's a wii game..

Graphics / 3D Textures from Games

Anyone know of a place where I can download 3D textures from various games? If not, right now i'm specifically looking for textures from Twilight Princess (environmental textures: buildings, trees, grass, etc), Resident Evil 4 (anything I can get), and also Half Life 2 (again anything I can get). I've searched around and can't seem to find very much or atleast things that I am able to use. :/

So eh yeah, for my art class and college portfolio thing, I have to make atleast 3 architecture pieces drawn from realistic things (so from real examples of buildings), and so I used picture references from buildings that my friend took while she was in Chicago visiting colleges 'nd stuff. Each one of these took about 4-7 hours to complete.

One thing I will mention though, perspective is one of my weakest areas, so if you examine the pictures close enough, you will find small mistakes in the perspective and angles.

Oh and just ignore the little labels at the bottom right, that's just something I had to do.

Entertainment / What's a really bad Nintendo game?

Okay so for this essay thing I have to write, I have to critique a game that's bad and write about it, but my knowledge of games is somewhat limited because most of the games I play are Nintendo games... Yeah, call me a fanboy if you want, but not to say that I hate everything that's not Nintendo. Anyway, i'm trying to think of a game that's really bad or sucks, preferrably a game by Nintendo and one that's pretty recent (GC, Wii, DS, stuff like that), and i'm having some trouble coming up with one that I can really dig into. So, any suggestions?

I thought i'd post and share two fun little drawings I did during art class to show whoever actually views this board..


^ It's a bunch of pears that I drew from the top of my head. Drawn with Prisma Color colored pencils.


^ Something completely random that I doodled using a brush and ink. I was originally practicing shading geometric objects with a paint brush and like 15 minutes later . . .


^ This is something that I finished today. I would really appreciate any critiques on this as to what I could change before I have to get it critiqued by my art teacher.

Entertainment / Needing Brawl Help

Hey okay so I'm having a rematch with my friend who I lost miserably to. His main character is Marth, and mine is Link. We're having a rematch soon and to clarify, I'm not even close to being an expert at Super Smash, but i'm pretty decent and I have beaten my friends who are really good at the game. My main problem, my friend who uses Marth is extremely good but also my biggest problem is with Marth's countering attack.

I'm actually afraid to attack him directly because he abuses the counter attack and knows my weakness to it. I almost always fall for his counter unless I get lucky. Especially when i'm at a high percentage, he'll REALLY abuse the countering attack and knock me out with that. If it wasn't for his countering move, I would probably have a better chance of beating him.

When practicing, I always get beat by the COM on level 9 because of the countering move. What I do is try to keep my distance and leap out of my way and when he attacks, I attack. Also when i'm far enough away, I rappidly shoot arrows at him and when he gets close to me, I roll back and anticipate his attacks. When Marth uses the countering move and I have the chance, I also quickly attack. The other side to this problem, when Marth has a high percentage of damage, the obvious thing to do is to pull in a KO, and he also uses counter a lot at this time. I've also tried tricking him by attacking close to him and having him counter, but that doesn't always work.The problem with doing all this, I get very little damage to him because i'm being very defensive due to his counter.

My question for you Super Smash experts is, what is the best tactic that I can use to attack Marth, especially when he abuses his countering move and is pretty much an expert at Marth's timing and attacks? And please no sarcastic or witty replies like "Learn to use Marth and fight him with Marth instead" or anything like that.

Graphics / ZFGC Sprite Museum

Anyone remember the "ZFGC Sprite Museum" that I made in the old Zelda forum? I've been saving this for a while and was looking for the perfect time to put this back up, but seeming as though all the oldtimers of ZFGC seem to want to head out, I thought now would be the time to do this.





















































Yep, those are all the ones that I collected. I don't know if I'll continue on with the museum, only time will tell.

Also on the note, it would be preferred if you didn't use what's up here unless the original author already said it's okay. Otherwise, it would be best not to use these, just look at them, but that's what a museum is, right? You look at stuff.

Graphics / OMG Scary tree (new drawing)

Okay so I wanted to experiment with a different technique of shading, so in about 30-40 min after some changes and tweaks, this is what I came up with:

What I did was draw out a face using 60% opacity of a "5" thickness brush, and go over it in areas that I want it darker. Then I did my normal shading as I usually do. Then I used the eraser tool, set it to aprox 45% opacity and started erasing some of the lines, allowing for not only dark lines, but also very light lines. Using the technique of adding and removing helps to add a third level of shading to the drawing (with light, medium, and dark). So, comments, critiques, stuff like that please?

(Oh btw, I forgot to mention but it's supposed to be the "Great Deku Tree" from Ocarina of Time, but I don't think it looks like him anymore.  )

Debates / What do you think would happen if Nintendo...

Okay, so what do you think would happen if Nintendo made is STRICTLY ILLEGAL and made it into a strict violation of rules to modify or create anything made by Nintendo? (Such as ripping, editng, or making any custom sprites, fanart, fangames, etc. etc.) Say that they could do something about it if you were caught  A lot of people would probably still continue making sprites and making fangames, but do you think a lot of Nintendo/Zelda-relating communities would dissapear and become more of an overall socializing place?

Other Discussion / Working on a movie, colors distorted

Hey there. I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I wasn't sure where else it could go...

I'm working on a little movie, simply just a bunch of drawings I drew in photoshop placed into Windows Movie Maker, and kinda like a slide show. While I was working on it and adding stuff in it was going well. I saved the movie to the highest quality that I could possibly set it to (22 MB even though I could set it to just 9 MB as recommended). When I played it in a video player program thing, the colors were completely distorted. For example yellow turned out neon green and brown turned out as dark green. I'm not 100% sure why this is occuring (possibly something to do with quality) and how I could possibly fix this problem..? Thanks for the help!

So my friend wanted me to draw him something for Gaia, so he drew an outlined sketch of what he wanted me to do. He scanned it and sent it to me, and I edited it by making a nice outline, making slight fixes and changes here and there, and then coloring it and adding the final additional touches. I spent aprox 50 minutes on this, so nothing really fancy.

Graphics / Isometric Island Thing

Well, since the isometric computer thing I made was really basically a failure, I thought i'd show off what I can really do with isometric art. Here's something I made around March or April, so it's pretty recent. EVERYTHING in the picture was made by me. 

Oh and jus some background info about why I made this, it was for a little game thing that I was working on with a friend. Unfortunately, I can't really put it up for download to play because it was made using a program that comes downloaded with a game... (Think of it kind of like Sim City. You can build your own cities and stuff, so it's like creating a game within a game, but this isn't made with Sim City or anything)

ZFGC Character Competition 2007 / ZFGC Character Competition Drawing

I don't know if i'm going to finish this or not, because I really hate coloring (the process I go to, to draw a picture is long. I do an outline, color it, add detail to the colors, then add a final outline/finishing touches)

But I wanted to show this anyway. If anyone wants to fix it up or whatever, be my guest, but here it is!

(Oh and please don't make the comment "my character doesn't look like that!!" or "my character's horns are bigger!" or "that shade of purple is wrong!" This was just for fun, and I wasn't even sure if I was going to show it or not)
