Graphics / Re: which looks better?

well i'm planning on using one of these for the main character of my game.
The one on the left looks a bit more NPC-like (neutral, gentle-looking) than the one on the right, who looks more determined and, in a way, evil. Personally I prefer the left one, although it would be nicer with stronger outlines. Really nice sprites, too.
i get what you mean with needing stronger outlines, after a couple more comments i was gonna do some edits and see what i can fix.

thanks for the good comments on the sprites :).

EDIT: I made a sprite that is kind of a combination of the first two:

I've been working on some sprites for my game and needed to get some peoples opinion about something, which of the following 2 sprites looks better:

these sprites are edits/customs in the same style as summon night 2, I personally think the one on the left looks good but i wanted to get some other peoples opinions.

i downloaded it and its pretty cool, i like the mouse aiming, you managed to capture a lot of the good metroid stuff from zero mission and fusion.

yeah, I'm not too good at custom graphics and these ones looked like what i was trying to make so i just used them, at least for now, hopefully i'll get better at spriting and be able to make my own style soon.

Well I started planing this game awhile ago and finally decided to post it here to here peoples comments about it. I have a story done for the game but I'm gonna wait till I can get it organized into a small prologue. All I have right now for a demo is the basic movement engine, which is a slight edit to goodnight's movement engine. The graphics I'm using for the game are from summon night 2, but the battle system will be different. The battle system is gonna be real-time battles on the overworld with various weapons and spells.

gonna be posted soon

not very nice edit... the skirt should be more blueish:

i know it should be more blue but the top and bottom of marinsa dress has a yellow line and i wanted to put that in.

She looks pretty good, actually ;).

Hey, if you're going to do a Link's Awakening remake in MC graphics, feel free to use my "Marin & Tarin's House MC".
thanks, where can i find marin & tarins house in mc?

this is actually what i hoped for. i like it better when i get criticism from people as long as the person has an actual reason for not liking it, beacuse then i know what looks bad and i can fix it. i'm gonna do a bit more work on it and post another version later.

Another minor thing... those music notes look familiar. I'm pretty sure I've seen them on a sprite sheet of TMC Nayru edited with OoA actions.

...Ah, here it is.

I don't know if Epona4 made the notes or not, but I'm fairly certain that they're not from TMC.
i realize i used the notes that someone else made but it was just for an example pic like how Epona4 has the pic of naryu signing to ralph, if you think he will get mad, then i'll take them out.

yeah, i edited malon, the reason it doesn't look like her is beacuse malon has some cloth thing around her shoulders and i edited that out for marin.

yeah, it was pretty easy, it took me a bit to find the right colors for everything, but yeah just a basic edit of malon the only custom part i did was the flower in the hair.

wow the new title looks pretty, cool. i'm glad you're making progress with this, i'm looking foward to the demo. it sounds like a good idea to put it on hold though you gotta take a break every once in awhile so you can try different things thats why i haven't been working on zdx2 as much.
anyways, good luck with it hyrule boy

Been awhile since i visted here, well I made some MC sprites of Marin from LA and was looking for some comments on them. I haven't worked on MC sprites that much but i think that these came out good. i'm still working on the walking animations but that is probably gonna take awhile.

C+C please

Discussion / Adventure Game (no name yet)
« on: September 14, 2006, 01:45:44 pm »
i've been planning on making a custom adventure game using gm. so far i've got the prologue finished and i was wondering what people might think of it. so tell me what you like and don't like, keep in mind that this is my first try at making a prologue for a game so i'm not sure if it turned out good or not. i've also got some concept art done but i won't be able to load that till i can get access to a scanner.

Long ago there was a powerful king known as Taiyugin; the incarnation of the sun god. He had all the powers of a god on the mortal plane, but soon he became corrupt by his immeasurable power and he started to demand sacrifices from his followers and all those who disobeyed him were destroyed, with each sacrifice he grew more and more powerful until a young man from a far away land came to destroy the corrupt god. It was said that the man was also an incarnate of a god; he was the incarnation of the god of the moon. An intense battle began between Taiyugin; Incarnate of the Sun and Getsuga; Incarnate of the Moon. The battle raged on day and night until both of them were drained of their power, as a last effort Getsuga held up two enchanted gems; one a golden sun and the other a silver moon. In a great flash of light both gods disappeared; their souls and power trapped within the gems. The gems were eventually picked up and hidden with two vast shrines dedicated to Taiyugin and Getsuga. The priests that hide them vowed to protect them until the gods finally returned. One millennium after the great battle of the mortal gods two boys were born; one the reincarnation of the great hero Getsuga and the other the reincarnation of the evil king Taiyugin.

My favorite is shadow link (the one from oot) because i thought it was pretty fun trying to beat him using only your sword and shield.

Graphics Requests/Archive / Re: request: sprite animation
« on: June 14, 2006, 02:47:53 pm »
every person who sees that sprite asks me that :(. i've tried conatacting the person who made it many times and he has yet to reply and let me know if it was ok to use it so i'm just gonna give him credit for the basic graphic style and the rest will be credited to whoever makes the other sprites. It was made for a mockup competition which means he wanted it to get noticed and become popular and if i can make a good game using those sprites and every seeing he made them then he will become more well known and more popular so in all logic i doubt he'd care much if i used his sprites otherwise he would have said no when i asked to use them.

heres one i came up with:
"Flies but never stops to land
Blown by a gust; unmoved by hand
May sometimes be a joyous sight
But also a show of heaven's might"

its really easy though.
