Its like that for aesthetic purposes. Red is too contrasting. I'll try to find an alternative...bold is more than enough IMO though.

I haven't noticed I got a new message a few times, I still think red is more obvious.

I agree, that's what I was trying to do with RGF, but no one was able to give me a code. Although I managed to make the number red by doing this:

Bold works with the dark green theme only. Kepp a contrasting redish color for the light green :D

Done. I chose yellow and bold because I could not find a red hue that would blend in.

Yellow is kind of odd... but I guess I like it. I prefered red because it stands out of everything else, therefore SHOWING you that you have a message.
But that's just me.
And off topic...
TheRealDragonboy, it is absolutely horrible you put "cool people" in your sig. You do realise that?
