I figured out what was bothering me. I've attached a comparison between yours and an edit I did on it to give an idea on how I think it should be fixed.

On yours, right above the hand, it is too dark, which is what made my eyes think that it went behind his head, yet it was obvious that the mustache was behind the staff, and that was what bothered me; it seemed that the depth was messed up on the staff, because how could it be behind his head but in front of his mustache?

In the edit, I "tried" to make the part above the hand more visible (I don't think I did a good job though). Also, I moved the top part of the staff over more, to look more like that actual picture. Anyway, I just made it to show you what was bothering me, but if no one else is bothered with it, then just ignore me; you're doing great work.

Btw, VERAN IS GRRRREAT! I like it.

EDIT:
For the Happy Mask Salesman, I think you need to flip the eyebrows around. But it still looks pretty good.

Adlar looks good. It's interesting to see him in such detail, since he's a character many of us probably didn't take much notice of before.

Veran's great.

I really, really like the Ember Seeds, even if they're supposed to be flowers. The HUD version is perfect, with the red ooze leaking over the side and everything. I love it.

Edit 2: Tree Test

I tried to make the trunk of a "Seed Tree" in LttP Tree style. Its still not done ( since the crown isn't made ) but it resemples a little the original AND fits to the other trees

Your pirates look really great. The captain seems to be a bit thin around the waist, but for the rest it looks great. However your seed tree is not good. I know it is only a trunk, but the trunk does not look like any seed tree I have seen in the oracle games. My advice is to leave the trunks the way they are in LttP and just work on the canopies.

I think that the pirates look great! The captain does seem a bit skinny, just because of the style of the graphics, but it matches the picture really well! Maybe you could fill him out a little bit, but not much. He's pretty great just like he is IMHO.

Omg! I love your Veran! Uhh, this might seem a little too out of the blue, but can I use your Fairy? I got 5 fairies in my game, but only have 3 different fairy appearances so far. (Doesn't want them all to look identicle.)

I know ;) but his waist is a bit to thin, which makes him looking more like a woman with his hourglass figure. He should be the masculine seatrotting pirate lover of queen Ambi. Like FF said, he could be filled out a bit in the waist area.
