Other Discussion / My desktop finally overheated
« on: February 10, 2008, 09:07:06 pm »
Oh well, I guess that what happens when I was supposed to clean it out a couple months ago. And thank good my Simcity 4 city didn't corrupt (I pressed Save right when the computer gave up on me).

I finally got it back on and the CPU is at around 80C (not healthy!).

Anybody have any suggestions to help it breath before I clean it out (next weekend hopefully).

EDIT: I'm going to lock this since I cleaned out the part under the green thingy that was more like Computer Dust Zone and my computer runs a lot cooler & quieter.

Alpha Releases:
Alpha releases are like demos. The only real difference is that they are more of a "Here is what I did. Have fun with it." demo rather than one that has been put together with a few stages to play. As a result, Alpha releases are generally buggy, but they will appear more often than a regular demo. The controls and more information are included with the readme in the zip file. The source (GMK) is also provided with every Alpha release.
(NOTE: You will need to have Gamemaker 7.0 PRO and the INI Data Structure extention for the GMK to work.)

Trailer #1 (Released on July 25, 2007):
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2zdsifItMnU" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2zdsifItMnU</a>

A proper page will be created for this on Crinis Blaze. For right now, there are screenshots on page 3).

Game Information:
Pretty much the summary of this game: A much improved Sonic Ze.
There will be 10 new zones:
- 2 of them are actual normal zones.
- 1 of them is the final zone (but with 2 acts).
- 7 of them are the special stages (1 short act).

Anyway, things that I already have done to it:

  • Now runs at 60 FPS
  • New Movement Engine. Proper acceleration & deacceleration.
  • Sonic moves 4 times faster at a normal max speed. (In the original, Sonic runs at 4px at 30FPS. Now Sonic runs at a normal max 8px at 60FPS)
  • New water engine. Now there is water disortion underwater, and physics are different underwater.
  • Minor layout changes to Egg System Zone Act 1. Also added some more gimmiks, improved pipe sprite, emphizised more on pipes, and made Sonic move a lot faster in the pipes.
  • Completely redoing Star Night Zone (Improved BG and lights so far) and Rusty Ruin Zone (this will look more like Wood Zone, also added belts and will add more gimmiks).
  • 2 new levels - Wacky Workbench Zone and Gravity Helix Zone.
  • New sprites for springs & checkpoints.
  • New hud & title cards from Sonic 3.

That pretty much sums up the major changes.

Entertainment / I just got a new DS Lite.
« on: May 11, 2007, 08:59:32 pm »
I got it from Nintendo after I found out 10 months later that my old DS Lite had a left speaker issue (it was outputting at a very low volume). Thank you Puyo Puyo 15th Anniversary for helping me.

So, I just have to pack up my old DS and transfer my DS online settings. I could use Puyo Puyo, but it's kind of hard to read the Wifi Connection thingy when it is in Japanese.

Sonic Ze with WMA music (26.69 MB)
Sonic Ze with MIDI music (2.71 MB)

You are free to use anything from the source, but it would be nice if you credit me for it.

All of the controls and other info are included in the Instructions, but I'll post the controls here anyway:
Left Arrow = Move Left
Right Arrow = Move Right
Jump = Control
Look Up = Up
Look Down = Down

Cheat Codes
Level Select:
Type iwantacourse at the title screen, and then press Space & Enter for Level Select, or Control & Enter for Boss Select & Sound Test.

Type gottodebugitnow at the title screen. In the game, press F6 to enable/disable debug mode, and while in debug mode press B to free roam (and press B to return to Sonic).

Other Discussion / My computer hates me, for the 3rd time!
« on: December 02, 2006, 11:35:32 pm »
Ok, my computer decided to screw up on me for the 3rd time, same thing happend.

Anyway, I didn't bother to back anything up, so I had to reformat and loose all of my things :(

j/k. My computer is fine. I was able to repair Windows. The only thing that I had to re-install were my graphics card drivers (Windows was Blue screening me because it was trying to use my old ones), and 67 updates. So, I'm curious. Why does my computer f up like this?

Entertainment / Sony gets desperate
« on: October 20, 2006, 08:22:27 pm »
They are trying to claim that the Xbox 360 costs more than the PS3. All I see is that the Wii is the cheapest of the 3.

Other Discussion / Got a New graphics card
« on: October 09, 2006, 01:56:26 pm »
Today, I finally decided to replace my old POS ATI Radeon X300 SE video card with this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814150182, which isn't top of the line but still very good.

So, expect to have a better GPU to play my games :P

Other Projects / Puyo Pop Fevahz
« on: October 02, 2006, 11:48:33 pm »
Yup, this is my super duper secret fan game that I have been working on instead of Sonic Ze: Robotnik Revenge.

Anyway, if you played Puyo Pop Fever, you should be very familiar with it. If you played Mean Bean Machine or Kirby's Avalanche, so should be a little familiar. If you played none, you better find a copy of PPF for the PC  ;D

Oh, this will also be my first GM game where the graphics & audio are external.

Anyway, time for the topic:

Ok, lemme post details first, then screenies.

Characters:
1: Amite
2: Raffine
3: Incubus
4: Yu
5: Rei
6: Satan
7: Accord
8: Doppelganger Accord
9: Shezo
10: Feli
11: Oshare
12: Klug
13: Ocean Prince
14: Arle & Carby
15: Rider
16: Rulue
17: Strange Klug
18: Popoi
19: Sonic
20: Dr. Robotnik
21: Skeleton-T
22: Draco
23: Sig
24: Taru Taru

Raffine and Incubus use some (or a lot) of swearing in their dialog).

Fever chains:
There will be 195 new custom ones, plus all of the ones Sega used in PPF. (You can either use mine, Sega's, or both in a 2 player match or endless fever).

The chain enders (and a repeat of the characters):
http://yustudios.moddedhosting.com/chain_enders.txt

Screens:
NEWEST:

OLDEST ONE (for comparison purposes):

TODO List:
- Get character voices working properly
- Rip the 4/5 puyo connector pieces (aka triples and that stuff).

Comments plz.

Entertainment / Wow, Sony's stupid
« on: June 10, 2006, 06:45:02 pm »
Ok, the article is 10 days old, but still, now they are claming that they introduced 3-D graphics.

Quote
According to Sony, it did not take its cue for including motion-sensing technology in its revised PlayStation 3 controller from Nintendo, so says Sony Europe executive Phil Harrison. In an interview published by German news outlet Spiegel, Harrison refutes claims and the widely held suspicion that the new design looked to directly steal away some of Nintendo's thunder.

"In a way I understand why people say [we copied Nintendo], but it is a little stupid, if you forgive the phrase. When we brought the PlayStation to the market in 1994, we introduced real-time 3D graphics for the first time. When Nintendo launched its N64 in 1996 it also had 3D graphics, did we say, "Nintendo stole our idea?" Of course not. Such innovations become possible because of a combination of technology, cost and manufacture capacities." Though of course, the idea of playing games in 3D had existed for a long time in the arcades. The idea of controlling games with a motion sensor has not. So the analogy is somewhat flawed.

Harrison continued, "We've been working on [a motion-sensing controller] for a long time and Nintendo has certainly been working on something similar. The difference between our strategy and that of our competition is that our controller is still similar to the Dual Shock, the industry standard controller. I estimate that nearly 400 million Dual Shock controllers have been sold worldwide."

And on its deployment, Harrison makes a bold claim, stating all PlayStation 3 software will make use of the motion-sensing tech. "...all games will use the motion sensor somehow. If you play a platform or soccer game now, you will move the controller. Now for the first time we can use both the primary input, executed by the analog sticks, and at the same time use the movements that the player makes as a secondary input. That is an important advantage, which only the PlayStation controller has."

Wow, Sony must have missed Starfox (which came out in 1993), or any of the other consoles before that were capable of producing 3d graphics.

Other Discussion / Need major computer help
« on: May 30, 2006, 08:53:04 pm »
Ok, Windows decided to just crap out now, and I can't boot into safe mode either.

Anyway, I think it started after I installed Peer Guardian. Because, after I installed it, the left sidebar in the wouldn't show up, and none of the icons were displaying properly in the Control Panel. The shutdown thing also would show after I clicked Turn off computer.

BAD mistake. Now, Windows restarts when it is on the Windows logo with that blue thingy. Trying to boot up in safe mode tells me to press esc to stop loading vax347b.sys, and then stops and the computer restarts shortly after.

And my (Gateway) recovery disk doesn't give me an option to recover from, it just says "All files, including data files, blah blah blah, will be deleted on the user partition."

And the only choice is OK.

So, does anyone have any solutions, because I don't want to reformat and loose all my stuff *yes, this includes Sonic Ze: RR, the music files, and the ADX's and other illegal stuff*

Coding / Zelda HUD Engine (v1.0.1) - Updated June 5, 2006

Yup, I finally decided to not become lazy and make this. Anyway, this is a complete rewrite of my heart and rupee engines. I kind of needed to, as I lost them. Anyway, this engine should be MUCH easier to understand, and offers more functionality. Currently, this includes a heart and rupee engine.

GM Versions: Gm5.3, Gm6+ (reg or unreg, doesn't matter)

Download Link (1.0.1) (Mirror)
Changelog

Older Versions:
1.0

No credit required, although it would be nice.

Please post bugs if you find any!

(NOTE, I started this from the PS3 controller topic).

Anyway, this is what we have:

PRICE:
$500 = PS3, 20GB harddrive, no HDMI support, no external media supprot (MemoryStick, SD, etc...)
$600 = PS3, 60GB harddrive, HDMI support, external media support

CONTROLLER:

http://www.r0rschach.com/black.jpg

Pretty much a Dualshock with some upgrades, and motion sensing abilities. They also removed the rumble features.

Oh, and none of this is a joke.

After had beaten Dr. Robotnik in Sonic Ze, Sonic found out that it was, a fake! Robotnik must of escaped while Sonic was defeating the dummy Robotnik. Robotnik escaped to another part of Mobius Island and dumped enimies and traps into areas where peaceful life once lived. After doing that, Dr. Robotnik had built his base, the new and improved Death Egg, underground in Mineral Mine. Will Sonic be able to overcome all of these challanges and defeat Robotnik?

    Screenies
    (Last updated: July 20, 2006)

Yey, a screenie of demo 4.

    -----------------------------------

Yey, Puyo Puyo zone. Ok, I took all of this stuff from Puyo Puyo 4 (Dreamcast one), but I did have to make some custom stuff that goes behind the puyo. No background yet.

Ignore the Misery Mansion sprites, those are just placeholders until I get the real sprites in.

    Todo List
    (Last Updated: July 2, 2006)

    Demo 4:

    Completed:
    • Added support to use winamp plugins
    • Sound effects now stored externally
    • Added a bunch of new options in config.ini, such as screen resolution, controls, etc...
    • Different music file types can be stored in different folders, for better visibility.
    • Getting speed shoes speeds up the music instead of playing a different piece, when not using a winamp plugin.
    • Officially supports the following music formats:
      • ADX (lossless, highest file size, never ending on ones that loop, same soundtrack as OGG, 165MB)
      • OGG (still very good quality, fade out at end of songs that loop,, same soundtrack as ADX, 135MB)
      • MIDI (lowest quality, lowest file size, no loop points, some songs different)
    • Re-ripped OGG music from ADX files. Now they are higher quality, better, and less work on my end!
    • Background disortion underwater

    • Many other changes

    Still gotta do:
    • Sonic can spindash, look up, look down, roll, do your homework, clean your room, make a 19 chain, provide oral s.... Well, I may have exaggurated a little.
    • Music disortion when underwater (Only when not using Winamp plugins)
    • Monitors, rings, other items
    • Sonic 3 sprites
