Why in this day and age can't we have the original, and better, ending from the book?
Are we as a world so terrified of the hate and sorrow in this world, that anything which ends on anything but a "Flowers and Puppies" note is considered horrid? Are we so pathetically trying to blind ourselves to the never-ending nature of the unstoppable death, hate and abuse in this world that even in our films, we cannot bring ourselves to show it?

In short, I am against the raping of good, albeit depressive, endings in exchange for "Oh look, it's all right!" endings.
I am Legend got it's title for a completely different reason in the book. Wikipedia it if you want to find out what it was.

Yes.

Edit: I just wiki'd the book. Damn, that's pretty cool. I wiki'd the movie too. Interesting.

Also says why CGI was done over actors:

Quote
A week into filming, Francis Lawrence felt the infected, who were being portrayed by actors wearing prosthetics, were not convincing. His decision to use computer-generated imagery meant post-production had to be extended and the budget increased. Lawrence explained, "They needed to have an abandon in their performance that you just can’t get out of people in the middle of the night when they’re barefoot. And their metabolisms are really spiked, so they’re constantly hyperventilating, which you can’t really get actors to do for a long time or they pass out."

Hmm yeah, the ending to The Last Man on Earth was awfully close to the description of the book, in fact most of it was. Still my favourite version of the story on film. Vincent Price FTW.

I just saw it, awesome movie, I loved it from begining to end.
They were Vampires, they were smarter then zombies.

I loved the movie I have seen it three times! The main zombie went crazy because the zombie
will smith took was his daughter or something. He just wanted revenge.

Monsters for kids? They're not friendly at all. They'd give kids nightmares.

Nevertheless it was a good movie
Easy 10/10
Though the ending was pretty sad, I hope they have alternate endings on the Blu-Ray

I don't pick apart a movie and look for things it's lacking, then rate it.
If I simply enjoyed the experience, then I liked the movie, so I rate it based on that.

I don't act like a !@#$% computer and pick it apart, giving and taking points based on certain factors.

It's personally my favourite movie of all time, I just saw it last week.
And it's the first movie I've seen in years that wasn't completely predictable with a !@#$% "hollywood ending" and all that.

The whole crowd that saw it loved it, and the hype and !@#$% they all had after it was over was crazy. I've never seen anything like it. Not to mention over HALF of the people that watched it stayed there and caught the next showing of it too, aswell as one of my friends.

And I'm definitely going back and watching it again sometime.
I give it a 11/10

Drew, that WAS a !@#$% Hollywood ending!

SPOILERS BELOW

In the original source, and two previous movies, Neville (or the character representing him) is killed because he spent his days slaying the monsters. To them he was a legend, a murderer. In the new one he was a legend because he sacrificed himself to presumably save humanity, that is as Hollywood as it gets.

Having not read the book, I'm not gonna compare it to that.

SPOILERZ BELOWZ

If this was any other movie, he wouldn't of even died.
All of the creatures would of dropped dead and turned into little pretty flower beds, and squirrels and birdies would hop around singing a cheerful tune as Will's dog is magically revived because he found some cure for death.

I and everyone I know who seen it didn't expect him to die.
I thought he was just gonna throw the grenade into that small hole that the zombie/creature breaks through the glass just before finally busting through.

Well I saw it a couple o' days back, and I was somewhat disseapointed by it. To me it actually was very predictable, so I was kinda bored. Furthermore I hated it when they offed the dog, you shouldn't off the dog. And the ending, well lets just say that i found it to be very cliché. So all in all, I didn't enjoy this one much.

To emphasise my previous point, I will use the film 1408. The alternate ending of that sounds WAY better than the actually one, but was cut because it was considered 'too much of a downer', which is quite ironic because I'd honestly consider the alternate ending a 'happy ending'.

Oh well, I need to rant some more...*considers starting a debate thread*...or maybe I'm too into Lovecraftian horror and the like XD
