Zelda Projects / Re: [DEAD] The legend of Zelda 3D Flying Rooster
« on: February 23, 2013, 03:40:18 pm »
I'mma bump it because it's the best Zelda (or even 3D) game I've seen in Game Maker.

If Drandula has stopped making it, maybe some of us could find someone else who would be happy to start it up again?
What has been made so far is just simply amazing, and I'd hate to see it sit around and die. I, (like many others) think that I can really see this going somewhere huge if we could attach some story and add a few more things to the engine.

If anyone else has Game Maker and is interested in messing around with his 3D example...
I agree, it looks impressive for a Zelda game. But realize that one person making a complete 3D zelda game is an impossible task. This would need a large team to even have any chance of being completed, even if someone decided to continue the project, and to this day I don't know of a single full-length Zelda fangame that has been finished. That said, if a Zelda fangame is ever finished it should be this one.

Edit: Actually there are a couple completed fangames (Return of the Hylian and its siblings) but they are not full length AFAIK.

Giant gravedig, I'm aware of it, but I'm just letting everyone know there are still working links to the server and client.
http://stuff.fragmentedforce.com/jduno/ - the server and client are stored there, there are some improvements over the last update I mentioned here, as well as a management console that runs as a service, autostarts the server on boot, and lets you start and stop the server at will as well as restarting it if it crashes.

I haven't worked on JdUno in a long time, but to this day there is no permanent host for it and while I host it temporarily when people want to play, there hasn't really been as much interest in it as I'd like, so that's why I'm bumping this now.

If there's enough interest I can host a semi-permanent server at home, however it can go offline for a couple minutes every few days when I reboot the PC. I see no point in doing that however, if there's not a lot of interest.

Edit: Also, it's fully skinnable now, with an easy-to-use skin editor loosely based on Game Maker's UI.

Also, a slightly outdated version of the GM7 editable can be found here: http://stuff.fragmentedforce.com/GMEDITABLES/GM7%20-%20JdUno%20Online.rar - it includes some other things like an autoupdater, which are no longer included in the main rars since I'm no longer working on it, however if someone else wants to develop it further, I'd be happy to provide the newest editables.

I voted Capsy because Reo made me.
I voted Capsy because Reo kidnapped my family and threatened to kill them if I didn't do it.

Gravedig much, jdbye?
Not really, it's hard to reply to any topics on ZFGC anymore without gravedigging.
(My internetz finally work again, for now)

As the project's not dead (at least I don't think so) it's not really gravedigging either.

I finally got myself a new phone, so now I'm able to play Demo 3 XD
The music works, but sound effects don't. It doesn't matter though, now nothing can disturb the music :P
Will the final version be out in the near future? I've been checking this topic every now and then for a while, it almost seems like the last 15% of the game is taking as long as the other 85%.

ZFGC is so dead nowadays. No one ever posts in this topic anymore :(

Oh and btw, why haven't you made a PC version of demo 3 with the emulator? I tested the MidpX thing I told you about with demo 3, and it seems to work fine. It wouldn't be much effort to create the exe, zip up the DLL and EXE and upload it to your site...

OBJECTION! THIS EVIDENCE CLEARLY REVEALS THE CONTRADICTION IN THAT STATEMENT!
TWW >> MM >>>>>> TMC >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> OoT >> PH(haven't been able to play too much of it though) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> TP >> OoS >> FSA > LA >>> AoL > LoZ >>>>>>>> ALttP >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> OoA
Wrong.
TP > OoT > TWW > MM

Why this hasn't god many hits I don't know. This is awesome. I'll try it later today with a friend (he loves Uno =O).
I bet it would have a lot more if it was posted in Work In Progress :S
I love Uno too :)

EDIT: Whenever anyone feels like playing check if I'm on IRC, if I am then I'll most likely say yes to play. ;)

Holy crap, Demo 3 is out, and I still don't even have a mobile phone that can run Demo 2 :(

Q: How big will the complete game be?
A: i don't really know, but i guess that it'll be smaller than 500k

It's already bigger than 500k, so you may want to change the FAQ ;)

New Version! Call UNO/Challenge rule added! It can be turned on or off in the Rule Variations, and is by default on.
EDIT: Yet another version! Room transitions, music and sound effects added to the client, and the dealer doesn't play first anymore!

This reminds me a lot of Mirc >.>
Why does everyone keep saying that? D:
I mean seriously, EVERYONE who has tried it has said it looked a lot like IRC.
Just because it has timestamps and /me?

I didn't know it had /me :P

I haven't had timestamps on mirc in years

/me
/kill
the look of the chat
The chat looks just like any other chat in any online game :/

And a similar looking user list.

This looks !@#$% nice. Too bad I can't play Uno. Is there a tutorial? I'd think of including some kind of tutorial that guides a player though a prescripted part of the game with computers, and then they have to win the rest by themself.
It's very simple, really. The basics are, you have to play a card of the same color or same number as the top card, OR a wild card which changes the color. The special cards are wild, which changes the color, wild draw four, which changes the color and forces the next player to draw 4 cards and skip his turn, draw two, which forces the next player to draw 2 cards and skip his turn, skip, which forces the next player to skip his turn, and reverse, which changes the direction the turns go in (counterclockwise/clockwise)

Those are the basics. There are also a lot of rule variations, and some of them have been implemented into JdUno.

New Version!
Only 1 new feature this time:  - Ban/Unban IP/Account and Kill Account (Kill just kicks the player off the server)
You need to be a server admin to use these, and if you're running your own server, you can just edit Data\Accounts\youraccount.ini and change Admin=0 to Admin=1.

- UPDATE - New version!

New features include:
- Scoring system with highscore list
- Rule Variations which can be turned on or off by the Room Master
- Kick Player and Stop Game (only the Room Master can use these)
- You can now view the public chat when you're in a game room
- Probably others I've forgotten.

Also, more screenshots.

Current version: 1.2

The server will host up to 24 game rooms at the same time, with up to 8 players in each. Each game rooms have their own private chat, and there's a public chat for people not currently in a game room (people in a game room can also see the public chat!)

The only problem is, I have no way of hosting the server myself. If anyone here could volunteer to host the game server (preferably as high uptime as possible) I would be grateful XD
It uses port 1337 by default, but that can easily be changed ;)

There's a short readme in the download, but it's mostly straightforward.

If you notice any bugs, tell me and I'll fix it as soon as possible.
Suggestions and comments are appreciated!

DO NOT PUT THE SERVER AND CLIENT IN THE SAME FOLDER!

To play it, you can either run the server on your own computer, or play on my friend's server. (CLIENT UPDATER WILL REDOWNLOAD IP.TXT IF YOU EDIT IT LOL)
