You know, them get the atomic bomb, maybe a side plot about performing alchemy in our world and how it works... man, I loved that anime. It's like how I love Death Note. They both have a place in my heart.

Fullmetal Alchemist is the greatest anime ever IMHO.
That would have been cool but they wanted to stop the show while it was still good and not drag it on the floor.
-
Eh I personally found FMA to be way too longwinded for my tastes; it just kinda bothered me :( It's a neat concept, but eh... Any longer would ruin it a tad more
(the entire series could have been summed up in 26 eps and a movie, I swear :p)

Ergh, everyone says that, but kind of ended on a cliffhanger. And I do mean the movie. What will become of the other world? What happened to the a-bomb? If the gate was opened using alchemy on BOTH sides, could alchemy be performed on our side?
-
I've watched a few of the first episodes, it seemed pretty good.

The reason that alchemy could be performed on Earth apart from Amestris in the movie was that a homunculus was used which from creation had a relationship with the gate already; I assumed that the gate was "confused" and tried to pull both ways thus creating a tunnel or whatever. Then again though, in the anime it said that humanity developed on a different path in both worlds, so it could happen then in both worlds hypothetically. The energy for transmutation though is dependent on souls crossing into the gate though, so Amestris' pull on that could make it close to impossible. Then again, I do not really know.
The atomic bomb part would be hard to expand upon though because Japan really did get blown up by two of them. Unless the series broke off into another "universe" or something, it would be limited.

Maybe there is no pull, maybe each soul is traveling at the same speed and velocity? Then again, there would be many souls since no alchemy was used for this world.

Side plots kill anime.

I loved the series but the ending could of been better, why couldn't the Elric brothers have ended back in their world. I found the alchemy world far more interesting than the other world, if Full Metal Alchemist did end up continuing it'd probably just turn into Full Metal Machinery, not my idea for a great anime.

The Ending sucked, the movie sucked. It ruined the whole series, while the beginning of the first 40 episodes are very great.
-
The ending was the only good part.

To the show, yes.
I'd like to forget that the movie ever happened.
-
I, personally, never saw the appeal of this show.

Don't they battle Hitler or something in the movie? yeah I'll pass

Same here. I've wondered what was so good about but was too lazy to watch it.
-
Yea the ending wasnt the greatest but it was still ok. But if they did continue it it might be ok if they could keep it good.

The Nazis are involved, what with Ed living in Germany in that time period, but no they never actually confront Hitler.
As for the show continuing, I hope to god it never happens. The show is fine as it is, it should stay that way. Ed's voice actor, Vic Mignona has even said he would be annoyed if they did that. I think the manga is still going on, though..

The anime is a goddamn piece of !@#$% and FMA is an ongoing series if you were reading the manga, which is unique and incredible whereas the anime is an emotionally forced hunk of shounen bull.
...sorry

Full Metal Alchemist is one of my favorite Anime shows, but in my opinion it went downhill around when they actually got the Philosophers Stone.
