Title: [DEAD]Eternal Eclipse
Post by: BlazeBigBang on September 20, 2012, 10:55:42 pm
(http://i1154.photobucket.com/albums/p528/BlazeBigBang/Eternal%20Eclipse/EternalEclipseScreen.png)

Characters

Link
Obviously, the hero of the green cap is the hero of this story. Link will have to  retrieve the Master Sword. He carries the Triforce of Courage in his left hand.
Zelda
The one for which the game gets its name. Zelda is the princess of Hyrule. She carries the Triforce of Wisdom.
Sahasrahla
The old man from ALTTP is back with a function similar to in its original game. Shasrahla will aid Link in the game.
Ganondorf/Ganon
The evil Gerudo Warrior who desires the Triforce for himself. After being trapped in the Sacred Realm, he found a way to break free from it.
Link's Grandpa
Link together with his brother were left with their grampa during the Imprisoning War. He raised them as swordsmen, as his father wanted them to be, though, he was a blacksmith, and they both were very good at farming. As they were being raised, they learned sword combat, blacksmith and farming. He was killed during Ganondorf's attack to the town.
Kai
Kai is Link's brother, and is three years older than him. He's 17 in the game, and he left at the age of 16 to join the Knights of Hyrule. His departure meant a real pain for their grandpa. Together with Link, they learned sword combat, blacksmithing and farming. It's not sure if he's still alive.
Malon
Malon is a great childhood friend from Link. Her father, Talon, was a good friend with Link's Grandpa. Malon taught Link farming. They used to play together. During Ganondorf's attack to the town, Talon was killed, and she was left in the town. Link takes her with him to the Castle Town, and is left there with the Princess Zelda. Later in the game, she's murdered by Ganon.

Tribes

-Zoras: the Zoras are the most intelligent group, and the most technologically advanced.
-Gorons: Gorons, compared with zoras, lack intelligence, but they have the ability to do great work.
-Dekus: being a tribe that developed their own way to survive, they are technologically advanced. However, they tend to be a bit hermit.
-Hylians: Hylians populated the whole world. They lack the abilites of all the other tribes, such as lava resistance from the gorons, or underwater breathing of the zoras. However, they have their pros, such as developing huge cities.
-Sheikahs: this tribe lives together with the Hylians. However, they had a fight in someitme. In old days, a king was angry with the Sheikahs because they weren't doing well their work in Hyrule, that was to protect them from monsters. Consequently, the king banished the Shiekah for some time. Anyway, they were able to get back generations later.
-Gerudos: the Gerudo are a tribe conformed just by women. A man is born every 100 years, and is supposed to lead the tribe to prosper. However, Ganondorf, the evil Gerudo, leaded the tribe to a war with the Kingdom of Hyrule.
-Kokiri: the Kokiri are a race believed to be extinct. However, they are still a few alive, scattered through the world.
-Minish/Picori: Minish are a tribe that are said to just be able to be seen by well-behaved kids. This was a spell to protect theirselves, as once, they were attacked by Gerudos. Since that moment, they applied a spell to theirselves so they were just seen by well-behaved people. Since danger has decreased, they broke the spell, and can be seen again.
-Dracos: Dracos are a legendary tribe supposed to be Hylians that were burnt by the Flame of Power. This flame had magic powers, as it was able to heal people in matter of seconds. Dracos, as the legend says, are Hylians, and as that, they can return to be normal Hylians instead of dragon-like humans.
-Ventos: Ventos were a mythical civilisation. They were banished from the clouds when the Roc invaded the Roc Peak. Since that moment, they lived between Hylians. However, thanks to a courageous Vento, who defeated the Roc and borrowed his feathers, were able to return. Ventos are gereat at controling magic and can fly.
-Sols: the sols are a tribe that lived in company of the Lunios. It was a reciprocal company, as Lunios couldn't live without them. Sols have the power of the sun. They look like Hylians, just that they have blond hairs.
-Lunios: the lunios are a tribe that lived in company of the Sols. It was a reciprocal company, as Sols couldn't live without them. Lunios have the power of the moon. They look like Hylians, just that they are paler and have gray hair as their eyes.

Items

Warrior’s Sword: this is Link’s first sword. He gets it from his grandpa. It can perform every attack that doesn’t require magic.
Master Sword: this is Link’s second and final sword. Its strength is double of Warrior’s. It can perform magical attacks. It’s empowered when Link gives Leonardo this sword, and becomes the True Master Sword.
True Master Sword: its strength is tripe of Warrior's. It can perform every single attack. It's Link's final sword.
Hero’s shield: Link’s first shield. It can block all attacks, except that some will attack even through it, like Darknuts
Eternal Shield: Link’s second and last shield. It blocks all attacks, even Darknut’s. When hit by sunlight, it’ll make Link go forward on time, and when hit by moonlight, backwards.
Claw Chains: Link can use this item to grab hooks and pull enemies in front of Link.
Bombs: bombs can be used to damage enemies, and to break walls.
Ocarina of Time: Link can use the Ocarina to call his bird in different ages. The Ocarina also affects some areas in the game when used.
Book of Mudora: Link gets this item by helping important writers. This book will let Link decipher mysteries.
Earth Breakers: this spell is an upgrade for the knuckles. They are obtained after deciphering a wall with the Book of Mudora. This spell makes the ground shake, opening paths underground.
Magic Cards: this magic deck is one of Link’s weapons. They can be used as explosives.
Boomerang: with this item, Link can hit switches and stun enemies.
Roc’s Cape: with this cloak, Link can jump and glide.
Hero’s bow: Link’s main ranged weapon excluding the sword. Can damage enemies and also to solve puzzles.
Knuckles: Link’s strongest weapon. This melee fighting style gives Link a major power, but also can be damaged and receive higher damage. However, Link can use them to block the attack if used on the right moment. They can also be used to break walls.
Flippers: Link can obtain this item from the Zoras. This item allows Link to swim in the water without drowning.
Pegasus Boots: Link can obtain this item to enable himself the ability to run.

NOTE: THE ENGINE BEING USED IS 4Sword's AND Niek

Oh, happens that you like Eternal Eclipse and want to support it? Well, you can by putting one of this three support bars in your signature!

If you plan on making the game with GM8 standard, I think you should take a look at this.

With this, you might get a decent head start in your Zelda game.

I am unsure if the link is dead or alive.

The link works, but the engine is for GM 7, and I'm not sure if GM7 is compatible with 8  :(

It might work, try to load it when you open GM8. My project was formally a GM7 project and now its GM8.
So probably this will work with your version of Game Maker.

I think you should shorten the Fracture of Time's name to just The Fracture. It sounds better, especially since every name these days is "Adjective of Subject"

Blaze and me were thinking of making a sidequest in which you must get the help of famous writers to decipher the book of mudora or something like that (we havent decided it completely).

Writers:
Show content
.Ray Bradbury: north american writer from the 20th century, he wrote novels such as The Martian Chronicles and Fahrenheit 451. He was one of the most important writers of his century.
.Jorge Luis Borges: argentinian writer and poet from the 20th century, he wrote literary texts like "La muerte y la brújula" and "El libro de arena".
.Julio Cortázar: another argentinian writer, he lived in the same time as Borges, his most famous text was Rayuela, which had the characteristic of being read both from the beginning and from the end of the book.
.Jules Verne: he was a french writer from the 19th century, and he was one of the most imporant writers in the history, and he wrote incredible books like Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea and A Journey to the Center of the Earth.
.J. R. Tolkiem: he wrote The Lord of the Rings extended version.
.Stephen King:blaze doesnt know anything about Mr. King so...

I'm already on that, and I'll leave you some here. You'll all get surprised  ;)

Stalfos - the normal Stalfos from MC
Armored Stalfos (Middle and Modern Age) - a Stalfos that wields a sword and wears armor. A bit harder to defeat. Slower than normals
Robotic Stalfos (Future Age) - a Stalfos that became a robot because of being close to a lot of machines

Expect to see more enemies on this style

As this game will be showing time-travelling, the flowing will be modified. For anyone that would like to know how the timeline would be here it is

o--x--x---->o--------->o--------->o--------->o--------->o---------<
1   7  8        2              3              4               5              6

1.Ganondorf escapes from the seal
2.Finds Link- Link retrieves Time Gears and Master Sword
3.Ganondorf kills Malon
4.Link finds his brother
5.Link searchs for the six Time Sages (still working on this)
6.Link finds the six sages
7.Link confronts Ganonodrf
8.Events from 2 to 6 never happened

So, yeah. Link travels through time, and when he's to confront Ganondorf, to fix everything that was wrong on the timeline, such as Malon's death and Kai's death (oh, I'm spoiling too much), he confronts Ganondorf once he escapes from the seal of the sages, before Ganondorf finds him. Once he does this, he'll feel sick, and will begin to fade away, just to find out he fixed everything and returned to his own time. What do you guys think about this?
Title: Re: [Fist two screenshots!] The Legend of Zelda - Working in a new design
Post by: BlazeBigBang on October 21, 2012, 05:40:12 pm
I decided to come up with a new design. Time travelling wasn't fitting very well, as I was adding real-life people in a game like this. However, me and Darkhunter we'll be thinking on what can this game turn out. I'm planning to add this game a Majora's Mask style with some transformations, but it will still have a totally different world.

I like the idea, keep it up.

Possible transformations:

-Deku Link: the same from Majora's Mask
-Goron Link: the same from Majora's Mask. Maybe, some abilities will be removed, but I don't know which, or if the'll be deleted yet
-Zora Link: this is the only form in which Link can swim. In this form you can also dive, just like in OoA, and discover and underwater world. The electric shield and the boomerangs may not be added
-Fierce Deity: the same from Majora's Mask
-Draco: when Link is burnt by the Flame of Power, he'll also gain the abilities of a Draco. I didn't work too much on it yet
-Wolf Link: W.I.P.

Not an update, but some info adding.

The game for the moment will be named. Didn't work much on the story yet, but Darkhunter helped pretty much on this. Just some background story:

A hundred years have passed since Twilight Princess. The legends of Hyrule tell about an Eclipse that will indicate Ganondorf's return, but at the same time, the Hero of Twilight will reappear and gather the three Twilight Gears (thes WON'T be definitive. They're placeholders). The day for the Eternal Eclipse is approaching, and none has appeared with the three Twilight Gears. Link is called by Zelda during a dream, saying that the spirit of the Hero of Twilight resides in him, and that has to recover the three Gears. During his quest, Link'll meet Sahasrahla, who'll tell him the place where each of the Gears are.
After that, Link will go to the Moon Temple to place the three  in their place, just to find out that it's too late: the Eternal Eclipse is happenning and Ganondorf will be back. Though, Link places the three Gears, and the Eclipse happens, but not in the correct way. Ganondorf does come back, but the Eclipse finishes. During the process, Link turns into his Wolf form. During the game, during nights, Link'll become a Wolf, as he can just stay in that form while in the night.
Then, Link'll return to Sahasrahla, who'll tell him that Ganondorf will try to do the Eclipse again to get all his power back again, but for that, he needed the 7 sages to be asleep, as they were the only ones able to erase the Eclipse in a zone. During the process, different locations will be affected by the Eternal Eclipse, and will remain always in dark, until Link awakes the sages.
Finally, Link'll go back to the Moon Temple, and confront Ganondorf in an epic fight in which Ganondorf will be sealed in the Eternal Eclipse.

So when nightfall comes around, you will instantly turn into wolf link ? The game might be even harder if all npc sees you as an enemy and try to kill you out of fear. I think it is good idea to have the player control his/her power to transform like in TP, where you go to a place unseen by people, and it is kinda dark or an empty field, then you can change. But that element can be good for the beginning of the game until you can pick from normal link and wolf link.

a small idea, kinda keep Ganondorf's return a secret to the player until they get to that part  :D. You can keep the player focused on the bad guy, who is secretly a follower of Ganondorf. Lets say this guy was a Darknut who is a solider for Hyrule, however, behind closed doors, he is a bad guy, who teamed up with moblins and other baddies to bring down those who will prevent Ganondorf's return.

As for Ganondorf's return, you guys can make someone like Zant, who was a tricked follower of Ganondorf. That person will try to stop Link with his forces, up until he summons Ganondorf. That person is defeated by Link and Ganondorf didn't care about that person who summon him, afterwards Link must now defeat Ganondorf, seeing that the person who summoned Ganondorf was just a puppet in the plan.

As for the Twilight Gear name, I think it should be something like Essence of Twilight, which was formed when the mirror was destroyed by Midna, making players believe that it was now impossible to go to that realm, but with the mirror's essence now formed from the scattered mirror(probably formed itself over the years), there could be a chance to re-enter the realm, not knowing how it is now after 100 years have past.

kinda off-topic
Now that you remind me, I always wondered what happen to Ganondorf's body after the events of TP, thought he was just left there with the sword impaled in his stomach.

It'd kind of be that Link is affected by the Eclipse. The Moon Temple is in the Castle Town, so the Eclipse affects there. People afraid runs into their homes, so at that moment, nobody sees Link. The gates will be closed, and Link'll have to find a new way to escape, so there it will be shown the abilities. Once you escape the town, Link goes back to his normal form. After that, I'll think for some event to happen that lets Link transform whenever he wants.

So, I began with some concepts for the Temples. And also some important characters and items.

NOTE: For anyone who complains about the following, Hyrule and Termina are parallel universes, so characters that are the same (just like Koume and Kotake)

Deku Butler's Son
The same tree found in Majora's Mask, now living in the land of Hyrule instead of Termina. His name is Sequs (from Sequoia). He'll give Link some item to transform into Deku (W.I.P.)

Darmani
Darmani lives in the Goron Mountains, and is the main leader on the exploration of caves, as well as mining them. He'll give Link the Goron Bracelets, wich let Link transform into Goron.

Mikau
Mikau is a resident from Lake Hylia. He's a great guitarist, and he's a very good friend of Darmani. He'll give Link the Zora Necklace, which grants Link the ability to transform into Zora.

Earth Temple/The Cordillera (Damn google translator. I believe it's wrong. Could anyone tell me if it's okay)

This is the second Temple, located on the Goron Mountains. Ages ago, this was a mine where goron took their food. However, due to the appearance of lava, the search for rocks was cancelled here. The main feature of the Temple will be the use of the Goron Bracelets to turn into Goron and solve puzzles this way.

Start working on the first boss: unnamed! Yes, again, unnamed. I know I'm adding a lot of things unnamed or with temporal names. However, this is due to the difficulty for me to put names. Anyway, this boss will be the boss of the Deku Temple (which I haven't begin working on it yet. The only thing is that the boomerang will be found here). How will he look like? Think of a Rhino with a shell on its back where there is a bush in each of the sides (left and right), and in the tail, a tree branch. I'll try and do a sketch and then post it.

does "storm blade" sound good???

When i look at this, i dont see very much feedback. I have a pretty flexible fantasy, what kind of temples would there be, what quest items (like medallions), and more would there be? And also, four sowrds adventures comes after twilight princess in the timeline, so you would have to adjust to that :s I dont think it would be hard though, considerating you said it was about 100 years after twilight princess. A new gerudo king (ganondorf) would have been born by then. And the one in four swords adventure doesnt seem to be the one from Ocarina of time, wich would nevertheless be impossible, as that one died in Twlight pirincess...

Now, i am tired, so i didnt read through all of your posts... zzzzz

Yeah, i remember that, but technicaly, not in every game. In Ocarina of time, he didnt die. Because, as you see in Windwaker, he survived. Thats the same Ganondorf. And in Twilight princess, he was just about to be excecuted, as Link told Zelda in the end of Ocarina of time. He died in the end of Twilight princess. However, in all other games, he is killed.

You know, the official timeline from Hyrule Historia says that after TP, FSA happens. And in FSA there's a Ganon. I'm intending to make the Ganondorf appearing here be the one from FSA.

"Following his defeat in Twilight princess, Ganon was reincarnated" http://www.zeldawiki.org/Ganondorf Now i dont know how accurate this is, Hyrule historia havent been released in english, i have only read the japanese version. But Ganondorfs triforce dissapears from his hand when Link "killed" him, so it would imply he was killed. Since Ganondorf in that game was reffered to as a desert nomad who was recently expelled from the Gerudo tribe for exploring the Desert pyramid :c But that was hundreds of years later. Who knows how many ganondorfs there had been in between that? Ugh, i feel bad now. I hope im not popping anyones bubble :(

Linkwolf48 pointed out something important: Link's ability to transform and go back to human from Wolf. Now, Link'll have the Moon Pearl from ALTTP (yeah, I know it prevented Link's transformation in the Dark World, but here is preventing transformation in zones affected by the Eclipse). This item lets Link transform into Wolf Link in any place (any place not affected by the Eclipse. In those zones Link automatically transforms into Wolf), and also go back to human. If in a zone affected by the Eclipse, Link can go back to human, and into Wolf.

So is this going to similiar to Twilight princess in that there are infected zones?

Kind of. Somewhat like ALTTP in which after completing three temples, Link goes to another world, in this case, zones affected by the Eclipse.

So, after completing 3 temples, the entire Hyrule are attacked by eclipse, and you got to get rid of it, or can you traverse from Hyrule and the infected areas as if it was a dark world/layer? What is the eclipse?

The eclipse is the curse that the bad guy puts on hyrule, in other words the sun being blocked by the moon. ;)

And how does it change Hyrule? :) Like, the twilight turned everybody into ghosts.

Not exactly. The legend says that Ganondorf will come back when the damned Eclipse happen. The Eclipse affects different zones, and Ganondorf controls it, pretty much (hey, Golden Sun fans out there! The Eclipse is somewhat similar to the one from Dark Dawn). It'll affect 7 places (didn't think of this yet), and once Link awakens the 7 Spirits of the Moon, he'll confront Ganondorf in an epic battle.

Right now, I'm having some concepts for the temples. As you'll see, the Temples aren't temples per se, but natural places where the Twilight Gears were dropped. However, Link'll traverse the zones and there will be a "temple" part. For example, when traversing the Deku Woods, Link'll go in and out of the woods and from the temple, making the woods be involved in the acquisition of the Gear.

Forest Temple/Deku Woods
The Twilight Gear was dropped in a field located within a circle of trees. It can just be acceded by going in and out of the Forest Temple many times. The Twilight Gear exerts a spell within the circle of trees that surrounds it, so travelers that wander through them don't see either the Gear or the entrance to the Temple, and keep walking forward, what makes them finally get again in where they were before. As there's a spell for this, the only way to obtain the Gear and not be affected by the curse is carrying the Moon Pearl and acceding to it by the Temple.

Earth Temple/The Range
The Gear is located within a large range. As before mentioned, the range has a Temple part that's acceded various times when traversing it. The Gear here exerts a spell that makes people not see entrance to caves located in the range, as the Temple entrances are inside those caves.

Water Temple/The Delta/Firth of Fifth (KIDDING)
The Gear is located within the course of a river that leads to a Delta or a Firth (I'll make a poll later to see what do you prefer). While having to traverse a river in the Zora Form, Link'll have to dive to find the Water Temple underwater. Once Link enters the Temple, he'll find zones where there's no water at all, and zones where he can swim to the surface. The Gear here made water to grow a lot, and no person could swim inside the Temple to acquire the Gear.

Actually the 'Firth of Fifth' was a reference to Genesis  :P. I still haven't chose the order of the items.

*BlazeBigBang draws The Knife and stabs himself while saying 'All your hearts now seem so far from me'*

You've got to be kidding (you're kidding right?!). Firth of Fifth is a song from the British Band 'Firth of Fifth', and it's my favorite song of them. A Firth is a landforming, there the Firth of Fifth reference.

(let's see who can get the two references on the frase with which I began with)

Looks like the poll wasn't too interesting. Twilight Gear won with two votes. New poll: What do you prefer for the Water Temple?
1- A Firth
2- A Delta
3- Another river landforming (especify in your post)

The poll will last until the 29th.

A little update is for the HUD. This is how it'll be:

Z (A)- Use item/Trigger actions/Accept
X (B)- Use sword/Reject
A (L)- Map
S (R)- Use Shield/Roll/Grab Item
C (X)- Use knuckles

Why knuckles are an item that'll always be there? Because I'll add some item for the Earth Temple. Link's sword will be stolen, and he'll use the knuckles to attack.

I began with the mapping! How did I begin? Well, (haters gonna hate) I created a superflat world in minecraft, and I'm designing there what I want the map to look like. Not the best idea, but the best for me.

A concept very used in Zelda games, is the ability to transport fast to other areas. In 3D games we had Epona and in 2D games like MC and ALTTP the bird. In Eternal Eclipse, as pointed out before, there'll be a tribe, the Ventos, that can control the wind and all that.

The Roc

Once Link's able to reach the Wind Lookout, he'll meet a lot of Ventos. Sometime later, Link can return, and he'll be told by the Vento elder, that there Protector Deity, the Roc, wasn't looking good lastly. Link'll have to travel to the Roc Peak, and climb all the way up. Atop, a Vento that was there will tell Link that the Roc will die, and there's no way to save it, but the egg will give birth to a baby Roc. The Roc will end dying, and when Link approaches the egg, a baby Roc will come out. As his mother is dead, Link'll take care of the Roc.

Once the baby Roc is born, it will appear a huge Cor (Roc, Cor. Am I being clear?) and it'll attack Link with its Death Beam. This will destroy the Roc Peak, and Link will be sent out through the skies all the way down the mountain, and the Baby Roc will fly down to save Link. Then, they'll fly up to the Cor. In that moment, Link'll have an air battle in which Link'll learn to control the Roc. When flying on the Roc, Link can use the Melee Attack (Roc Tackle), the Ranged Attack (Roc Beam) or the Shield (Wind Shield). Link can also use ranged aattack items like the Boomerang or the Bow.

Since that moment, Link'll have access to the Roc to fly and get faster to other places. When flying on the Roc, Link can choose a location in the map and fly, or can fly on its own, like when using Epona. To call the Roc, Link needs the Ocarina of Winds (yeah, the same from MC), obtained from the elder when Link begins his quest.

Not an update, but talking about the poll. You have a week to decide between a Firth or a Delta.

The project is DEAD. Not that I couldn't find the time to learn scripting, but was too complicated for me. The project is DEAD. I'm sorry the work I made the spriters do.

However, as the story is well-developed, and I was thinking on breaking free of the Zelda title, I'll probably make a story from it, or a sprite comic.
