Zelda Projects / Legend of Zelda TCG
« on: February 10, 2008, 07:29:14 pm »
For those of you that have been on Pixeltendo, you probably know about the Pixeltendo Card Game.  Well anyways, looking at it gave me an idea that I had previously given up on about 3 months ago in these forums, a Legend Of Zelda Card Game.  Now long ago during the OOT Era there actually were Zelda trading cards that could actually be used in a game but now they are just collector items.  So a substitute is needed.  Now I would like to present the Zelda Trading Card Game:

THE CARDS:
Currently I have designed 4 types of cards: Character, Area, Creature, and Item.
Basic Card Setup

Character: The most basic type of card.  They have power, defense, health, an element, species, job, and a cost.  Some of them also have abilities.  Every single one of them represents a character from the Legend of Zelda Series, weather it be a player, or NPC.  This does not include Bosses, unless the boss is someone like Gannondorf, Vaati, or Dark Link.  Every Character can have a maximum of 2 held items (unless a two handed item is on them), 1 steed, 1 of each type of clothing, 1 helper, and as many other items as you please.

Area: For those of you that ever played something like Yugioh, you could probably attribute this to the field spell cards.  Fields are broken up into different types including: Towns, Dungeons, Islands, Forests, Lakes, etc.  They usually have a positive effect for certain characters or creatures, but can also have other effects, like an increase in Rupee gain.

Creature: This category is like a simpler version of Characters.  Their cost is usually lower and they often have low health.  Also they are unable to hold items.  At the moment there are two different types of Creatures: Enemies and Bosses.  Some enemies also double as items, and when a creature is destroyed, half of their cost (rounded up) is added to the opponents wallet.

Item: Where would Link be without any items?  Simply they are the many things that help you accomplish tasks.  It is in this category that you will find steeds, weapons, clothing (Boots, tunics, etc.), shields, and helpers.  An equipment is any item that has a 1 or 2 next to its item type.  All weapons and shields, and som basic items fall into this  category.  Certain equipment like weapons will have a 2 next to their item type.  This is just to show that they are two handed, like the Biggoron Sword, and you cant have another weapon or shield on the character you play it on.

Helpers: Helpers are a sub division of Items, and are unique as they are the only items with attack and defense.  This rare sub category includes all the fairy helpers that have ever appeared along with Ezlo, cursed Midna, and a few others.

RUPEES:
Similar to Magic: The Gathering, Rupees are needed in order to play anything.  At the beginning of the game you roll a two 6 sided die and the higher number is how many Rupees you start off with  in your wallet(in the event that they land on the same number then you add them together.)  At the beginning of every turn you gain 2 rupees, and every time you defeat a creature you get half of its cost added to your wallet.  You can also sell an item from your had for half of its cost, but you can only do this once a turn.  Some cards have the ability to change your Rupee intake at the beginning of your turn, but they are not that common.

THE GAME:
The point of the game is to get rid of your opponents 30 life.  But there are also other ways to win including:
Your opponent running out of cards
Having 100 rupees after the beginning of your turn (it must be exact and reach this amount by the 2 rupees that you get in the beginning of a turn)
Or playing a special combo.

TURN SETUP:
Draw- You draw one card
Rupee Gain- You gain 2 rupees
Character & Creature Entry- you can play one character or boss creature and as many other creatures as you want
Battle- See the Battle Section
End- Self Explanitory

BATTLE:
When battle takes place you first check to see if there are any special effects granted to a character or creature like ranged.  In the event that there are no battle specials then battle occurs.  You can have anywhere from none to all of your characters and creatures attack, by one at a time having them attack your opponents characters and creatures, in the event that your opponent doesn't have any then the cards power is dealt straight to the opponent.  When two character's/creature's battle they each deal there attack to the opposing cards defense.  If the ATK is greater than the DEF then the difference is subtracted from the defending cards health.  For instance if you had a card with an ATK/DEF of 4/3 and another with 4/5 the first card would loose 1 health and the other would not loose anything.  Every character/creature can defend as many times as they want in a turn.

OTHER RULES:
1. Both Players start off with 6 cards in their hand.
2. Neither Player can attack on their first turn
3. Neither player draws until their second turn.
4. You don't get the 2 rupee gain on your first turn,
5. You can not have more than 8 cards in your hand at any time.  In the event that you draw a ninth card, you must either discard a card from your hand before looking at the drawn card or discard the drawn card right away.
6. Flip a coin to see who goes first
7. Only one Character or Boss creature can be played in a turn

I was also thinking that this game could be programed into the boards
More information will be posted in time

I just love the ruppee's but maybe it could be possible to increase them in other ways?  Aside from: posting, trading, interest, sending, and words.

Imagine this... a zelda game with turn based movement in an ever changing dungeon network.

Possibly with multiple characters like:
Link (Duh) with a sword and bow
Midna (TP) magic
Ralph (OOA) sword
Saria (OOT) Healing Magic
Skull Kid (MM) Magic
Linebeck (PH) navigation
Zelda (Duh) Magic
Maple (OOA&OOS) Magic and Potions

Anyone can use this idea, as long as they give credit.

Discussion / Legacyoftheoracles Free Game Concept 2: Fusion
« on: February 09, 2008, 08:59:19 pm »
I was working on Rizars Gate when i realized that Vaati was basicly a mixture of  two older villians.  Whom you ask?  It was Dethyl and Veran from LA and OOA respectively.  His first appearance was simply a dethyl with a black banana on his head and arms made out of bats.  His Minish form is Veran with a gender change.  So It is possible that there could be a game where the characters fuse (similar to DBZ without the dance).  It could be an interesting game idea.  Anyone is free to use it as long as they give credit.

Discussion / Legacyoftheoracles Free Game Concept 1: The Rainbow Wardrobe.
« on: February 09, 2008, 08:51:59 pm »
Inspired by Four Swords and Ocarina of Time, I thought that maybe there could be a vast wardrobe of different tunic's, each with different powers and effects:
Red- Gives an increase in power along with a resistance to fire, can't swim at all. (Fire)
Orange- Increase in defense and magical resistance, at the cost of loss of speed (Earth)
Yellow- An increase in speed and reaction time, plus resistance to lightning, falling rocks would do more damage. (lightning)
Green- Does nothing (basic)
Blue- An increase in swimming speed and the ability to breathe underwater, lightning does more damage (water)
Purple- Resistance to poison and greater chance of finding ruppee's (poison)
White- Ice resistance and can jump farther but fire does even more damage (Ice)
Pink- gives the wearer health restoring powers and reduces opponents agression (enemies would be less likely to attack you.)  Also weakens your power and defense (Heart)
Black- Stealth increase (enemies don't notice you as well) but magic does more damage (Shadows)
Silver- Increase in both Attack and Defense, but a drop in both speed and a loss of the ability to jump. (Metal)

Everything in parentheses shows the source for the power.
Anyone is free to use this as long as they give credit.

Style: Hopefuly TWW
Timeline placement: see my timeline topic (at the very end)

Story: After traveling for many weeks, in search of a new land to call their own, Tetra Link and the crew are starting to loose hope.  Then in the middle of the sea there is a man garbed in green draped over some logs unconsious.  They take him inside and almost immediatly they find an island.
The Island is covered in dense jungle and there is a temple on top of a cliff.  Tetra and link decide to set out to explore the temple.  But when they get their all they find is the base of a statue.  Tetra walks up to it and a cloaked figure appears, grabs her and vanishes.  Link, shocked, runs to the last place that Tetra was standing and Tempora to come out between the cracks in the floor.  As it slowly starts to flow towards Link, the Phantom Hourglass jumps out of links tunic (it was the only thing he had left after the events of TWW and PH) and encases the Tempora.

Synopsis:
In the universe of the Legend of Zelda there is a substance known as Tempora.  It is a semi-sentient molasses like liquid that only exists when there is a split in the space-time continioum.  In its pure form it is indestructable and the only way to get rid of it is to destroy the temporal anomoly.  In other words; unless Link can find a way to get rid of the problem, the Tempora will consume everything there ever was or will be.  Tempora also has another interesting effect:  it can recreate shadows of past incarnations of whomever it touches.

Discussion / Timeline of All timelines

I am here to announce the strangest timeline you will ever see in the history of Legend of Zelda:
May I Present (drumroll)... The Triline! (end drumroll):

*Note* these timelines run on an extreamly thin line.  They are based on the theory that when two of the timelines line up exactly they will remerge in order to stablize.
It begins with minish cap, then a few generations later it goes off into Four Swords.  About 200 years later we enter Ocarina of time, and this is when things get complex.  First of all the timeline splits as a result of Link being sent back as a child, lets call it Timeline A.  The other destroyed future would eventually have Ganon break free and resealed leading to Hyrule being sunk, but I'll cover that later, so lets call it timeline B.  During the course of Majoras Mask; another split occurs, every time link goes back in time he is creating a branch off where he didn't save everyone and there is, like in Timeline B, no link.  This will be called timeline C.  Meanwhile in the A timeline, link has saved Termina and found a way to return to Hyrule.  At one point there is Twilight Princess which started while link was away in Termina, Ganondorf was sentanced to execution by the sages and was then sent to the twilight Realm where eventually Link killed him.  Once again, in timeline C, a new link appears from another land.  This is The Legend of Zelda Link.  Jumping back to the A timeline again there is Four Swords Adventure where Ganon, after being killed in Twilight Princess has used his backup plan.  When he first came in contact with the triforce in Ocarina of Time, he put a portion of his power in it.  That way if he was ever killed and had the triforce taken from him, he could bring himself back from the dead once.  Reeking havoc he is sealed in the Four Sword, and before Vaati is killed, he secretly uses the last of his power to reset everyone's memory.  This spell does not take place untill after the Four Sword has captured Ganon.  With everyone forgetting these events Ganon takes advantage of the situation to teleport himself back to the sacred realm, turning it into the Dark World.  Using the guise that Agahnim, his puppet, had actually ended the problems caused by himself and Vaati, he was able to get a pawn close enough to the King to take over and break the seal that binds him to the Four Sword.  Sending Zelda and the other decendants of the Sages that first attemted to kill him and bound his power into the Dark Word, he was able to undo the seal on his power and open up portals to the Light world.  Link Kills him.  At the same time as this, Back in good old Timeline B, Wind Waker is taking place.  Ganondorf is killed at the same time in both Link to the past and The Wind Waker.
A short while afterwords in Timeline C there is the Adventure of Link.  Now for the most confusing part... Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons.  Ages takes place in timeline C (because that link lived in a Hyrule that was much closer to the sea), and Seasons takes place in Timeline A.  After Criss-Crossing over they then combine when Ganon is killed (again) as the timelines were at that exact moment, perfectly equal.  After Link says his goodbyes and leaves on a boat for training, he gets caught in a storm.  This leads to Links Awakening.  Meanwhile in timeline B, there is Phantom Hourglass.  So now there are 2 Timelines left... Timeline AC and Timeline B.  Will these two timelines ever reconect?  That my friends is another story.

Zelda Projects / [pre]Legend of Zelda Oracle of Secrets[/pre]
« on: December 07, 2007, 12:10:03 am »
There have been many imitations but none like this.

Link has been called into a new land to protect a mystical power, but he arrives out cold.  When he awakens he is in the care of a writer named Farore.  After a short discussion with her a stranger suddenly walks in, requesting help with a strange cauldron that they found.  Faroe goes to help them and the stranger without warning the stranger throws the cauldron on her head.  *Flash of Light and the stranger is gone after an evil laugh and short monolog* Farores memory has been erased so therefore she no longer is the Oracle of Secrets.  Evil is now free to roam the lands, Hidden horrors are unleashed, and all the while Farore thinks she is a chicken (kidding about that last part.)

Charachters:
Link- The Hero of Time, called by the Triforce into this land (no name as of yet) to protect the Oracle of Secrets
Farore- The Oracle of Secrets, she is a skilled writer and has many books, however she can sometimes be too kind for her own good.
Skevarn- Trickster of Night, he plans on lighting the Flame of Destruction by erasing Farore's memories and throwing the land into turmoil.

Weapons:
Book of Secrets: The chosen item of Faroe, you must find its lost pages hidden across the land
Pick Ax: It can break through bolders that bombs couldn't destroy
Bombs: Break through Walls,
Sword: The standard Zelda Weapon
Sheild:
Boomerang:  Throw it and, hello, it returns to you.
Seed Satchel: Your standard Ember, Scent, Gale, Pegasus, and Mystery Seed holder
