Judging by the official art of the game and some in-game photos from DX, Link is the only person that have pointing ears.

It's easy, Link sleeps, dreams that wake up a fish and then he wake up.

Precisely my point.

...Though seriously, are the people in LA/OOA/OOS hylian or human? I can't remember the artwork, so I don't know if they have pointed ears or not.

Edit: Oh, didn't see the previous post.

Yeah, they are probably their own race.

I'd really like to see the return of Koholint Island in a future Zelda title... even if it's a handheld. I mean, if the Wind Fish is real, surely he could create the illusion of Koholint again. Speaking of the Wind Fish, if he's real and all legendary and such, where was he in Wind Waker? D:

He should have been in it, he's got a damn sea to himself.

If their ears point, there is a good chance they are Hylian, otherwise they are just human or whatever, I do not know.  Oh fiddle-sticks, missed other posts.  Also, certain characters are based on characters from the other parts of the Zelda universe, but I don't know if that says anything.

Nope. None of them have pointy ears. Doesn't seem they are Hylian.

I'm 100% sure it's a dream.
What's there to be confused about?

The fact that after you beat the game you see the Windfish (after you 'wake up') fly over head.
If I dream about my friends and I see them when I wake up, does that mean it wasn't a dream?

It was probably the windfish's dream too

Yeah it was a dream for sure. I just watched the ending and read all the text. He mentions it being a Dream World and all that. He also says "Let's wake up together Link!" which indicates that they both probably shared the same dream.

I think Jabu-Jabu, Jabun, and The Windfish may all be the same. If not, it's Jabun and Jabu-Jabu.

Link didn't dream of his friend. He dreamed of the Windfish. So if you dreamed of the Windfish, then woke up and saw the Windfish... I'd say there is a good chance that things in your 'dream' really happened. Especially if you started your dream by being woke up.

But that's just me being the devil's advocate. I think it was the Windfish's dream.

"Lets wake up together Link" implies that link and the fish were sleeping together :O Link is Fishgay

Hawaiin.
I dunno I saw no one playing a Ukulele and we all know that every single Hawaiian person plays Ukulele. Thus this myth is busted :P

They're probably mexicans.
Did you see any sombreros? 'Cause I know for a fact that all Mexicans wear sombreros and play the maracas.

Well, if the islanders are Hylian, then they did at one point not have pointy ears.

Well, I'm just saying that if the islanders were Hylians it would mute his point that they always have pointed ears.

Maybe they're all atheists.  The Hylians had pointed ears so they could talk to the gods, or something like that.  Maybe the islanders were atheistic Hylians that decided to leave Hyrule and over time they lost their defining ear features.  Then they were swallowed by the Wind Fish and became a part of its mind.

Considering it's a dream, it wouldn't reflect the ACTUAL Hylians.

Also Wind Fish isn't bigger than the island so he could not swallow it.
