3D is mostly for eye candy anyway. The only game so far that it actually helps some is Super Mario 3D Land

And some 3D's easier to see than others. Ocarina of Time had really good 3D but Fire Emblem's is pretty on/off

I may just be jaded but this honestly looks awful and unappealing, on about every level I can think of. The graphics, the way the gameplay looks, just ugh. Not to mention pulling a Final Fantasy in the first place by doing a direct sequel to a game instead of just making a new game (Even though it is a new game so it's just branding)

Holiday 2013 release

EDIT: Another video (Thanks Vash)

It will however, affect a brilliant game's legacy

There's such a thing as retroactively making a game bad for some people. Mass Effect 3 did it for many, although it's an extreme case based on the first games being built on pretenses that never came to be.

It's sad seeing half-hearted effort being put into these games. They're great and if you want to bring them to modern standards, put some effort into keeping them great. That's just my opinion on it though.

It honestly looks like dogshit. The remakes of I - IV didn't look that bad. Square's just phoning it in on the mobile market and it's kind of depressing

I really hope they don't touch VI. It's bad enough they did this to V...

A character competition isn't something difficult to have - i.e., it follows a set formula and works itself to completion. The main difficulties with the last competition were the initial concern about the number of participants (which was solved by allowing someone multiple entries, and increasing the length of time for people to come up with ideas) and where topics would sometimes not be posted right away (which could be solved by having more than one person able to post topics so that the burden of doing so wouldn't fall on that one person).

I guess my point is that if you really wanted to have another character competition, why not just do some quick planning, maybe talk to Mirby about helping you and promoting the event on ZFGC given that she's a journalist, do the setup, and then as mentioned let it work itself to being complete. Any of the stylistic details you might want to have to make this character competition unique could be figured out between the hyping up and the start of the competition; from both staff involvement and community contribution.

There might be more interest from everyone too in terms of kicking the event off as the event isn't directly in the immediate shadow of the last character competition.

I agree with pretty much everything that was said here. We'll move forward when the time is appropriate.

And in the end Level-5 should have licensed tech they used in their game instead of putting it in there illegally

This is what happens when you violate copyright law with intent to profit

Video games are often action oriented and females are typically less suited to displaying the tropes you want for a video game

I love when there's a good female hero though it keeps things interesting. Especially when games have a male and female hero and make them both work with their own plots. Persona 3 Portable was great at this. Silent protagonists yet they both have their own distinct personality and they both frankly kick ass

Also Pokemon, female designs are always better than the male post-Red version

^ You'll only have that problem if you're bad at the game or if its an unusually grindy game

Usually you can use a decent strategy to forego all the unnecessary grinding. If you're failing too much you've gotta level or change your strategy, but there's no good reason imo to level because you don't feel like trying to come up with a decent plan of attack

I constantly underlevel

It takes more strategy to win fights and you spend more time playing the actual game than walking back and forth on a small strip of mediocre exp enemies trying to get new stuff

It looks like its more or less just an engine test meant for developer eyes, showcasing all of Conker's abilities and the world around him. The game is surprisingly far along considering the huge shift between this cutesy game and the more mature Conker's Bad Fur Day

Rare cut this title for three reasons:
1) It doesn't differentiate itself enough from other cutesy N64 platformer collect-a-thons like Banjo and DK64
2) Critical reception to Conker wasn't what Rare expected. Their strategy of "put a new furry creature on a flavor platformer of the week" wasn't working out
3) The game is so sickeningly cute that developers at Rare couldn't stand it

What I find more interesting than anything though is how people can't seem to understand why Rare isn't a AAA dev after Microsoft bought them out. Their N64 strategy amounted to get lucky on Goldeneye and then lose the license and make a carbon copy sequel, and make collect-a-thon platformers that don't age well

A new Banjo platformer would still be lovely though

Thoughts? Opinions? Discuss.

EDIT: Also on a much less interesting note, here's an hour of Dinosaur Planet (Starfox Adventures Dinosaur Planet pre-Starfox)

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOVBRJToVDY" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOVBRJToVDY</a>

This one's the same game without the arwing sequences and running on the N64. Plus all the mild differences you'd expect with adding Starfox

Hard to believe this thing became canon
