How do you add recent posts on a forum?

i'm an admin on a zetaboards forum and i don't know how to make the recent posts show up. like at the bottom of the main page it says who did the 5 most recent posts.

You can't. Zetaboards won't let you, that'd need either a change to the PHP to add another query, or a complicated javascript thing to look for the most recent posts, but that'd be almost pointless for the amount of effort it would take.

They actually used to have an option for something similar ("today's active topics") but took it out, to save bandwidth.

Its a feature in many forum software packages, however not all of them include it as a feature, maybe there is a 'mod' for it?

Invisionfree IS zetaboards. Same damn company, except I think 'zetaboards' is using a slightly more up-to-date version of IPB.

The only 'mods' available are javascript ones. At least, last time I checked. Maybe they've added something less crappy.
