Other Projects / [Video(s)] Resurgence
« on: October 22, 2012, 03:24:59 pm »
Hi! Remember me? Probably not. My project is in the database thinger under the Projects tab (Resurgence), formerly known as "The Legend of Zelda: Heart of the Master Sword". Basically, I'm moving away from the zelda label but keeping it zelda-style at its core. More info on the project page itself. But anyways! I come bearing gifts. I will update this post later with another video after I upload it.

As always, WIP and any sounds/graphics/music that exist in other games are merely placeholders.

This used to be called "The Legend of Zelda: Heart of the Master Sword" but it has since changed. It's still the exact same game, just dressed up differently. By which I mean change all the names while otherwise remaining blatantly zelda-esque. Things like, there is no Link, but there is a (female) protagonist clad in green who's main weapon is a sword. There is no triforce but there are still dungeons to traverse to claim an item inside along with a powerful relic. I'm not entirely sure what else to put here but give

a gander and if you have any questions, ask!

P.S. yes I like to use Latin despite its deadness.
P.P.S. Turns out there's rules for how to post! I'll fix those up in a jiffy.

I'm conflicted. I want to un-nintendo my game because I someday may want to sell it. Ergo, I cannot have anything that nintendo would be all too happy to sue me for. On the other, I want more exposure and all that but if it's for "nintend-related" games only then I dunno. X_x

I have a video! It's on the project page. I guess project edits don't get mirrored to the forum post.

This project has taken a new direction. It used to be a Zelda game in every shape and form, but I am shifting away from that in the aesthetic sense. Basically, anything explicitly owned by Nintendo I will remove/replace/change. There won't be a Link, but there will be a sword-using protagonist clad in green. There won't be a triforce, but there will still be dungeons where powerful relics are hidden. It will be a Zelda game at heart, just not in appearance.

Now then! With that, onto the other stuff. This game won't be in zelda classic forever. It's just a prototype. Maybe someday I will be able to make it in something more robust, or even code it all from scratch. While I'm not holding my breath, a full, complete game will be produced. Be it with Zelda Classic or something else. Again, though, the game has not changed physically. Just its outward appearance where necessary. I guess it counts as re-branding it?

Plot: It exists, but more of an afterthought than anything. The prime focus here is the content. The plot fits the gameplay, not the other way around. Because then you end with cutscene-heavy piles of garbage that are somehow "video games".

Gameplay: Hybrid of Zelda 1 and 3, with other aspects from other kinds of games thrown in. I want to make it at least 20 hours long. and if I get carried away and make it 40+, so much the better!

Graphics and Music: Anything present that already exists in another game (be it zelda or otherwise) is just a place-holder. But other than that think of it like a slightly improved LttP set. Or enhanced gameboy. or more like a hybrid of the two!

I think that covers it. Here's the website! http://resurgence.tk/ There is a video on it that shows the first 15 or so minutes of gameplay.

Nah, All I need is this one thing, for now. A few months down the line, I'm going to need more of these kinds of "Bosses", namely, a Shadow/Dark Link, and Majora's 3 stages. I won't be a part of this... "project" (Diababa, for clarification) because not only do I sucketh at drawing/spriting, I can't learn C++ (or Even learn ZScript, which is supposed to be simpler than C++)

I am using Zelda Classic.
But! If you know C++, then what I ask should not be difficult, as ZScript is derived from C Script. I intend to recreate (as close as possible), a Diababa (From Twilight Princess) Boss Battle as the Boss of Level 1 in my Game/Quest. Spriters are needed because I sucketh at drawing. I would appreciate this GREATLY. There is no real deadline, but I would LIKE to have this by the end of September. Ideally, I would need 2-3 coders (who can friggin COOPERATE, I CANNOT stress this enough), and 2 spriters. Please and thank you.

I used Anvil Studio. The fact that I have a MIDI cable and keyboard helps too  :P

http://www.zshare.net/audio/323158991b4c24/

I made that for my level 2, (more details soon). I know I took parts from places but it's still custom as far as I'm concerned.  :)

http://www.zshare.net/audio/32316113f4d610/

This one is completely custom, made from scratch, etc. I'm going to use it for my Level 9, which is called "Twilight Tower" (and not related to the game "Twilight Princess", I thought of the name a while before TP came out.)

I posted these because I need feedback/opinions.  :-[

I used that for the forest temple. Not a Tile set in the ZC sense, just a small set of tiles (a set of tiles suitable for making a dungeon as opposed to a set of tiles to make a whole quest with)

15
I updated the screen shots (and added 1 more.)

16
I think I fixed all the names with proper grammar (If it isn't in the demo, it will be in the full version).

Oh, and I changed the name of the game:

The Legend of Zelda:
           Heart of the Master Sword

17
2 screen shots are up, if more are needed, just say the word.

Some more info:

Area's:
Forest
Dark World
Desert
Frozen Plain
Death Mountain
Heavens
A sea
An Ocean
CAMELOT!

Dungeons:
Templum Silva
Templum Sactus Ensis
Carcer Telum
Temple of the Mirror Shield (to be translated into Latin)
Stone Tower Temple
Water Palace
Level 7 TBA
City in the Sky
Twilight Tower.

It looks ok, but Z1 remakes have been done to death, does "Zelda Classic" (the program) ring a bell?

If anyone has played Kirby64, and knows who Miracle Matter is, this suggestion is that, with a small modification.

IMPORTANT! Due to circumstances beyond my control, this game is only playable on Windows XP computers.

PLAYER <====== Needed to play Game

http://www.freewebs.com/majoraswrath1/INSTRUCTIONS.txt How to set it up and stuff

Story: As of this message, there is no story line (however as the game development progresses, I insert plot elements and hope they fit together.)
This game operates GB style, with slightly better graphics.
Area's Available in the DEMO:

Link's House

Northern Forest

Level 1

Another overworld (name is a surprise)

Level 2

Level 3

Screenshots(click to enlarge):

(NOTE: Ran into ZC bugs, so the 2 extra screen shots will be up in a while)

If anymore info is needed, I'll edit this post with it.

And for the record, this game will feel slightly OoT-ish. I tried mixing various elements from almost every zelda game to date (This demo has elemnts of OoT, TP (kind of), WW, and ALttP, the full version will have elemets from EVERY Zelda game to date ;))
