No response means no one knows!
All I know is it most probably runs some form of basic so you should look for tutorials and the like.

A COMODORE 64? Why not something modern and more efficinet? Like Game Maker or Dark Basic or even simpler, RPG Maker 2000? Your using like a 25 year old game computer to create games that only will run on that computer. Use a modern pc, take my suggestions. Sorry if I sounded rude about this but nobody uses a commodre 64. So I don't think unless your a programmer from that time period will know much of Commodore 64 programming.

C64 still has a devoted fanbase, I'll give you that...

But Basic doesn't have any sprite-handling routines built in, you have to write them all yourself. Plus, breaking down voices into waveforms that SID can handle, I wouldn't get your hopes up for that.

So, you're going to be stuck with text adventures unless you take some higher-level programming classes and study up on that language.

PLEEEEEAAAASE?

Do you actually expect folks here to know how to program for a computer that was obsolete before many of us were even born, or are you yanking our chains?

Why on earth do you want to learn Commodore 64 Basic anyway? Do you live in some nightmare Eastern Bloc !@#$% police state where this is the latest black market technology?

 :o

Pfft... If you were really hardcore you'd know that VIC-20 is where it's at.

In alot of ways, I agree with the don. (refering to king mob) anymoo yeah, there are alot better stuff than Commmodre 64 and there are sites that are prolly dedicated to those 80's and early 90's game computers. i wouldn't think any of us would know too much about 20 something year old computer anyways

Although C is a very powerful and portable language it is very difficult. Object oriented languages really started coming into light with C++ so you will be forced to stick with structs instead of classes and dealing with memory with extreme pointers. If you don't really have any programming experience besides gamemaker and you want to quickly learn how to do all of those things you should obt for programming on your home computer with C#.

Off-Topic: Holy !@#$%, it's inverder D:!

On-Topic: Yes, I would recommend you start with C# to break you into C at a later date. Jumping head-first into C wont work. So as I said, I recommend C#. After that, perhaps try C++, which is still object-oriented, I recommend "C++ For Dummies" and "Teach yourself C++ in 24 hours". :/

There's such a double standard about religion in the modern world. Catholics can gather, wear white robes, and say "In nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti" and be considered normal.

But if my friends and I gather, wear black robes, and say  "Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn", we're considered cultists.

"Teach yourself C++ in 24 hours". :/

God, no. That book was quite !@#$% for learning C++. I'd reccomend "Accelerated C++" instead.
