Yeah, I was thinking about that too.  I don't know how they would go about doing open-world environments without significantly altering the gameplay from the original.  I think a prequel would be the best way to do it, showing the events at Aperture Science leading up to the first game.

This I agree with fully.

I'd love to see a prequel, maybe even some interaction between Black Mesa and Aperture Science, cause I'm sure there were some altercations of some sort in between those two. I'm sure there were "spies" of some sort in each Corporation. Just hopefully this game (if it's a prequel) shows the whole "building" and not just test chambers again. Maybe even see a 'Beta' GlaDOS.

If it turns out to be a sequel (which it most likely will be), I think it will start mixing in with the HL/HL2 storyline some more.
