I'm not too sure but it might've been either Super Mario Bros. or Super Mario Bros. 3, IF not the SNES All-Stars and World games. (Y'see, my next door neighbor, whom I was close to, had an NES before I got an SNES. Heck, she's the one who taught me all the secrets in Super Mario Bros.!)

Off-topic: I came into this topic thinking you meant earliest video game in history (as in oldest) and I was going to immediately say Pong!

First game I played I believe was this Las Vegas style NES game or this PINBOT game... but that's mixed in with LoZ and SMB for the NES as well.

I think the first game I ever played was Super Mario Bros. at my cousin's house, but the first game I both owned and finished was Link's Adventure DX.  My parents never allowed me to have video games because they claimed that they would rot my mind, so I never had the opportunity until I secretly bought a GBC when I was in 5th or 6th grade. Technically we had an Atari 2600 for about a month when I was pretty little, (while everyone else had a SNES or Genesis :(), but I'm not going to count that.

To be honest Pokemon Red/Blue was my first as I said earlier. However as a young child I also remember Duck Hunt on my neighbor's NES and SMB3 on their NES. Countless hours over at their house hunting for ducks and taking turns in SMB3. Good times...

I think my first was Adventure, or something else on Atari 2600. It was the only game system I owned before, like, 1999-2000.
