Feedback / Re: Winter games!
« on: October 26, 2012, 01:47:56 am »
My suggestions would be all winter OR summer themed characters. You have to pick a side, and get your name on a slot, get an even amount on each "team", so not only do we have one character who wins, but one team.

Brackets should be announced ahead of time, because brackets are fun to look at and make the competition more interesting. I liked the recent contest, but it was the only one not to have a bracket and that took some fun out of it. Since activity on the site is still not going to be where it was at for the original competitions, we should have a loser's bracket.

King Crimson :D

one of their more melodic pretty songs, as opposed to some of the real experimental progressive rock stuff.

I was mostly kidding about 360 and PS3 versions, but I do think they should maybe stop making the same game over and over.

It's like Mario is great, and it will always be a great platforming series. Mario RPG was a fun and different spin on it. They should have no fear of trying different genres and types of gameplay, and no fear of re-boots either, even if it's just for a game or two before going back to the main series.

I think that's more interesting than the waggle gimmicks in the Wii version of the 2nd GameCube Zelda. The DS Zelda games were really fun, but also very gimmicky. I haven't played Skyward Sword and have little interest in doing so, although it doesn't look bad at all. So I am less into the series as I used to be, but I think a WiiU Zelda is just going to tack on one more gimmick.

I think the next Zelda game should be the on Xbox 360 or PS3, and PC. It would be an incredible reboot of the series, with more RPG elements and more complex strategy puzzles in dungeons. online co-op dungeons would be available, as well as PvP.

Is it just me?

I mean the top of the site still talks about how the Char. Comp is going on, so might as well just start a new one. With the size of the forum, even with increased activity, it's just never probably going to be the big deal it used to be. Pretty fun still and nostalgic. I will definitely enter a winter character.

In fact I'm already calling my character now:

Abdominal Snowguy - He's the younger brother of Abominable Snowman. Instead of scaring people and eating them, he's just a body builder and gym instructor. You should see his abs, dude is ABDOMINAL.

We're talking rippling abs here.

Grateful Dead is my real love of music. Too many people think it only sounds good to druggy hippies. This is the live improv jam leading into one of their ballad songs, Ship of Fools. This is just the jam into Ship of Fools, from 1974

Rebelution concert was awesome! They got a bit repetitive though to be honest, some of the songs that I'd never heard before all sounded the same. The horn player is pretty sweet and had some awesome solos.

they opened with that ^^

I love Modest Mouse as well

I really like the design for Ganon. It almost reminds me of a Mario game style for some reason.

I agree with your comments on modern music.

I still listen to a broad range of stuff, almost entirely older music.

The oldest I listen to is classical music, 1930's / 40's Romani jazz
Lots of Beatles, Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Phish
A bit of techno and electronic music. French band, AIR is great
classic funk, jazz, and bluegrass as well

Never really got into vocaloid or Asian music at all, nor rap, club music, whatever's going on now, etc

This game is going to be so interesting. malefor has inspired a new idea for me to throw in there. a twist of sorts, sort of a prequel of the ranch invasion on MM. He thinks I should include the aliens again and this time add their spaceship.  So I was thinking...

What if it's a part if a ranch quest line where Cremia or someone tells you the history of the ranch and she mentions that supposedly the aliens come back every 200 years or so. I think it could be pretty cool if the alien ship landed in the ranch and Link has to rush inside and fend them off. Pretty much a mini dungeon that likely wouldn't have a boss fight. Might be about 10 or 15 minutes. What do you guys think?

Awesome idea, do it. Maybe she shouldn't call them aliens, or have any direct mentioning of them being aliens, just like MM. It's just alluded to heavily, and space ship / mini dungeon would be a great idea. Even have a small boss type fight, nothing huge, that'd be sweet. Alien leader type dude 8)

Yeah I haven't looked but it's a fairly simple idea, so wouldn't be surprised if multiple other fan games are similar. I don't like how you mixed LttP and MC style of sprites either, but regardless... I'm not making this. Just saying it'd be a sweet idea. I don't program. If anyone wants to help me with it I'd be glad to do mapping and design stuff.

Man, tell me if you like or not this music. I post it, but nobody tells me if you're liking rock from Argentina.

This is a very cool song man, Argentina rocks apparently. Who knew.

Thanks, not sure if I was clear enough though with that idea. When the chosen player with a nice kill count is chosen by their prophet (Zelda* or Agahnim) , and has to defeat their NPC enemy prophet to temporarily embody their deity (Link or Ganon)

The chosen deity player then is kind of super-powered, getting Link's beam-sword and stronger attack power / more hearts or Ganon's trident and more hearts.

* I said Old Man in the original post, as in the guy in the cave in the first game, but Zelda would be more appropriate and interesting. Fighting Spirit Zelda sounds fun

EDIT:
If you are on the Hylian Knights team you'd get to choose between a few different looking Hylian characters to play as, each with a different build.

HYLIAN KNIGHTS
Standard Knight (+3 Sword / Shield) - 4 hearts
Heavy Knight (+2 Sword / Great Shield) - 5 hearts
Archer (Bow+Arrows / Bombs / Mirror Shield) - 3 hearts
Scout (+1 Sword / Boomerang / Pegasus Boots)  - 2 hearts

GANON'S TRIBE
Moblin Knight (+3 Spear / Shield) - 4 hearts
Darknut (+2 Sword / Great Shield) - 5 hearts
Moblin Archer (Bow+Arrows / Bombs / Mirror Shield) - 3 hearts
Goriya (+1 Sword / Boomerang / Pegasus Boots) - 2 hearts

I <3 Hatsune Miku!!!

I can't get into this type of stuff at all. The cutesy 3D anime and repetitive annoying nature of the song just don't do it for me. No offense of course, to each their own.

I do love a lot of different stuff though. Jazz, bluegrass, folk, classic rock, oldschool rap, progressive rock, classical, etc

I'm not into the Japanese culture as much as many of you on here are, but I think this song's title is in Japanese. It means "Please Wait" or something right?

To add to this, I have noticed sometimes when typing out a post it decides to skip characters that I've typed, as though it's freezing up periodically. Only on here too.
I have run into the same thing. Most often it are two charaters that get skipped.

Yeah that's what I noticed first. Only started happening a few months ago probably. I'd type and it'd freeze, but then after a good minute at most it'd finish what I typed and not freeze up. Only happens when posting / making topics, and only on this site. That still happens too, but the unresponsive pages seemed to stem from that initial freezing up.

I'll keep posting around... so far so good with this post.

Only on this site. I'll try and keep this post short because 99% of the time my posts / topic attempts will freeze up and I'll get an error in Google Chrome saying the page became unresponsive. I have a 6 year old iMac so that's probably not helping the problem, but it is only on ZFGC, so I'm guessing it's not just the old slow computer.

I have no actual ability to make a game. No idea how to program. This is just a cool idea I had. If anyone wants to help make this happen, I'd love to help design and sprite / make music. That's the extent of my abilities.

The game would have a few different maps, medium sized areas. The game would be online PvP only. It's a fairly simple idea, and much more doable in terms of development than an epic full scale single player Zelda game.

LttP graphics
Death match style gameplay

To the Hylians, the Old God - Ganon, symbolizes the greed and pig-like nature of man. He is also the idol deity of the lawless Tribal Belt. They are constantly at war with the Hylians, to fulfill the chaotic desires of their God. The Hylians on the other hand, worship the ancient Old Hero - Link.

Other idea to make it more interesting:

After a large number of consecutive kills without dying, if the option is turned on before that match, the player will be attacked by the ghost spirit of an ancient lord. A bubble will then surround the player and ghost NPC enemy, so other online players can't interfere. For Hylian Knights, the ancient lord will be the Hylian Prophet: Old Man. For the Tribal Belt, the ancient lord will be Agahnim. If the player loses, the other team gets two kills. If he wins, that player will temporarily embody the spirit of the Old God - Ganon (Tribal Belt) or the Old Hero - Link (Hylian Knight)
