Feedback / Links are the same color as text

Yep. There's no way to tell a link from regular text except for rolling over it. Perhaps they should be a slightly different color?

Other Discussion / Aeroplanes?
« on: August 05, 2008, 09:00:47 pm »
Why do you people across the ocean call airplanes "Aeroplanes"?

Connor says that its because it's a plane of aeronautics. But doesn't it make more sense that it's a plane that flies through the air?

Also, since the first successful airplane was invented in the US, I'd say that our name for it is the correct one. >.>

Entertainment / DS Lite Speakers Silent?
« on: July 30, 2008, 04:47:09 pm »
Note: My DS Lite has worked 100% fine up to this day. Also, prior to this day I had been using the DS with headphones only for a few days.

Last night I tried to play a game on my DS. On the DS menu screen I noticed I didn't hear that annoying ticking, so I turned the volume up. I still didn't hear anything. I tried a few GBA and DS games. No sound. Then I plugged in my headphones and everything worked fine. So it seems like my speakers are broken, or the DS thinks that it's in Headphone mode all the time. What's up?

Other Projects / [DEMO] Kirby's Rebound!
« on: July 30, 2008, 01:48:00 am »
In the beginning it was a Kirby Block Ball clone. It had simple graphics and simple controls. It caught on, and many anticipated its release. After demo 1, nothing was heard from it again. Then, much later, it was reborn. It had better graphics and better controls, but only a single stage and none of the special features that it promised. Now...

KIRBY'S REBOUND!

It returns, bigger and better than ever! Enjoy fast-paced breakout action Kirby style as you inhale enemies, traverse stunning worlds, and face off against massive bosses! Even better, this time the adventure will land on your screen in beautiful 3D; and you can play it on a PC or a Mac right from your web browser!

The real art work here is the texture, since the model is just a sphere. >.> Guess what this could be for?

Entertainment / X-files: I want to believe
« on: July 28, 2008, 07:52:59 pm »
Yeah, I went and saw the new X-files movie with Drills and my mom today. Summary: It's awesome, X-files are great, Mulder looks hilarious with a beard.

Yeah, some Brazilian guy on the Unity Community forum posted this game that he made in Unity. It's really polished and cool, so I decided to show it to you guys. Basically you move with the arrow keys, "attack" with a, and set with s. I got crushed, see if you can do better. It's a game to 7 points.

Entertainment / I got a PS3
« on: July 22, 2008, 12:02:05 am »
Yeah, I made enough money off of my birthday to get my very own PS3. I got the 40 GB model, and it was well worth $400. I also got Motorstorm, which is a lot of fun as is, but there are five game updates that I can't seem to install (I get an "Update Failed" message after about 10 minutes of 0% completion). Then I got Burnout Paradise which was awesome at first, and even better once I installed the 1.30 update. Excellent game. Then I downloaded Super Stardust HD from the Playstation Store, and it's easily one of the coolest space shooters I've ever played. I want to get Metal Gear Solid 4, Infamous, LittleBigPlanet, etc.. but I need to save up a bit more money. Oh, and its times like these that I wish I had an HDTV. Even a small one would be nice, as I can't read the damned words on my SDTV for !@#$%. >.<

Bottom Line: Get a PS3. Lovely system with great online functionality.

Graphics / My first APNG
« on: June 27, 2008, 10:55:59 pm »
Yeah, there's a nifty Mac Firefox extension to make APNGs so I made one of the 3D model of a Jaguar XKR that I'm working on. Whaddya think?

As you all probably know, Firefox 3 and Opera 9.5 will show this correctly. If you don't have either of those, I suggest you take a gander at NM64's avatar.

Other Discussion / Darwine 1.0 RC3
« on: June 05, 2008, 09:27:50 pm »
Darwine (port of Wine to Mac OS X) seems to work much better with the recent 1.0 RC3 release. I was actually able to play imfletcher's Hall of the Dead, which used to be too graphically intensive for Darwine. :P Good graphics games don't work, but its only a matter of time now, I hope. If you're a Leopard user like me, you can always get all the latest Darwine update here:

http://thisismyinter.net/Files/Darwine/Leopard/Installers/leocast.php

If you use Tiger, head to this one:

http://thisismyinter.net/Files/Darwine/Tiger/Installer/tigercast.php

Unfortunately there's no 1.0RC3 for Tiger. Get a Leopard, they make nice pets. :D

EDIT: Upon some more testing, only some Game Maker games work. >.> I guess it's something more than before though.

Entertainment / Just beat MGS3
« on: June 02, 2008, 12:22:02 am »
Finally finished Metal Gear Solid 3. Now I've beaten 1, 2, and 3. That was a really cool ending, especially with
Show content
Ocelot coming onto the WIG and having a shootout with Snake, and at the very end, Ocelot talking to someone on the phone saying he found an interesting new nuclear weapon plan at Granin's lab. And it was awesome to watch Theforeshadower's signature picture playing out there on the WIG. :D

In all I'd have to say that Metal Gear Solid > Snake Eater >>>>>>>>> Sons of Liberty >>>>>>> Every other game ever.
Now I've got to get myself a copy of Portable Ops, STAT! :D

Other Discussion / Giant Cardboard NES Controller
« on: May 29, 2008, 12:00:59 am »
This just in, Moldorma makes giant cardboard NES controller!

Detail Shot:

It is for a Geometry project, in which we had to construct a 3D figure, find the surface area and volume, and draw a net. It also had to contain three different types of figures (in my case; rectangular prisms, cylinders, and triangular prisms). I know that I mixed up A and B, and that there should be a select button, but I don't really care. :P

Entertainment / Just beat Metal Gear Solid
« on: April 28, 2008, 11:31:25 pm »
That was a great game man. Took me about a week to beat it on Normal mode. My codename at the end was "Elephant", which I assume means I was clumsy idiot. >.> Anyways, I'm going to play it again on Hard mode and save Meryl this time (yeah, I failed the stupid interrogation. Sue meh. >.<).

Uh, yeah, my new favorite game of all time.

Discussion / Metal Gear Core
« on: April 26, 2008, 06:47:20 pm »

Mm, I'm really into Metal Gear Solid/Metal Gear 2 as of late, so I decided that in my free time I'd make a 2D Metal Gear engine in Game Maker. It's really just for the hell of it, and I'll still mostly be working on Wanilla nonstop, so don't expect a ton of progress. What I hope to eventually put in is:

•8 directional movement
•Radar System
•Codec System
•Guards that follow the different modes (Infiltration Mode, Noise Mode, Alert Mode, Evasion Mode)
•Environmental stuff (floors that make noise when stepped on, rooms with gas, land mines, etc.)
•Weaponry (SOCOM, FAMAS, C4, Grenades, Chaff, and Nikita ought to do)
•Items (Security Card Keys, Rations, Gas Mask, Mine Detector)

I think that's all I'd really need, right? Anyways, hope I can at least finish this.

Graphics / CONTEST: Make a fake OS Mockup
« on: April 12, 2008, 01:26:33 am »
That's right, it's a contest to see who can design the most amazing mockup of nonexistent operating systems! An example of a valid entry would be something like my recent Cascade OS. And now, let the signup begin! Signup will go until we've got all 5 entrants (just 5, because I don't expect a huge wash of entrants here).

To enter you must donate to me, a small fee of 50 rupees. The winner of the contest will take 200 of the entry rupees, and the runner up will have his or her 50 rupees returned.

ENTRANTS
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.

I'll announce the ending date of the contest once we have all the signups.

Discussion / Cascade OS
« on: April 12, 2008, 01:00:58 am »
I don't know why on earth I made this thing, but it took me days to do so. >.> Anyways, its a fake operating system design called Cascade OS.

I think that the design choices I made are pretty decent. The icons are so photorealistic that its as if I went on Google images, found product photoshoots on white backgrounds, cut out the white, and scaled em down. :D

Other Discussion / Parallels
« on: April 11, 2008, 12:46:29 am »
I had heard so many rave reviews of Parallels (Windows emulator for Intel Macs) that I decided to try it out, seeing as Boot Camp got frightened by my cracked XP disk (shhhh...). I got a 15 day trial, and holy damn! Unlike my previous experiences emulating Windows (Virtual PC, shudder), this thing is as fast as my native Mac environment. I'm impressed, needless to say. I might have to buy this thing once I have enough money.

Zelda Projects / [WIP] Tamarin Tag
« on: April 08, 2008, 01:18:53 am »
Basically, Drills gave me a month off from Puppet Flight. Then Bluemonkey went complaining that Unity sucked and that I was afraid of online because I never made Zo3. If I don't finish it this month, I'm scheduled to complete it as soon as I finish Puppet Flight. SO HERE WE GO!

Single Player
You're a Tamarin. Explore a neat li'l forest with lots of cool graphics, sound effects, and the like.

Multiplayer
Get online. You and a friend are both Tamarins in the same forest area. One of you has a banana, and you play tag over it until you've each had x turns with the banana (where x can be set by the game creator). When it gets taken from you, you get stunned for a second so that the new player can get away. There's an in-game chat as well. When you finish, you see what the longest time you managed to hold onto the banana was, and you can submit it to a high-score table.

Screenshots
Haven't modeled the Tamarins yet, but I did finish the whole forest. Here's some shots. Note that the water in shot three has changed from the ugly colors in shot two.

Graphics / HD LTTP Fairy
« on: March 30, 2008, 01:57:14 am »
Heya! Earlier, for the Zelda TCG Template, I made a vector art (middle) of the fairy from LTTP (right). I realized that that's pretty much what "HD spriting" is, but then I realized that it sucked. So I decided to remake it and include a fair amount of detail and stuff. It could be better, but here's my HD fairy (left):

Just in case you missed it earlier, from left to right it goes: HD Fairy, Vector Fairy, Original LTTP Sprite (scaled up x4 (and for some reason lost its wings/wand))

Zelda Projects / The Legend of Zelda TCG
« on: March 29, 2008, 07:20:45 pm »
Hey there all! If any of you remember the Zelda Trading Card Game I made waaay back on Invision Free, you aren't alone. So did a guy named "jordannn", and he decided to resurrect them. Unfortunately, they were just not of the same (low) caliber that I used to make them. Interested in the fact that this dead idea still had fans (well, fan, anyways), I have made a new card template for you all. Attached is the Adobe Illustrator file, and here is an image for a standard image editor:

http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o180/MoldormaToo/zeldatcg.png

Now, you the reader, make your own Zelda Trading Cards and post them in this topic for submission if you want. Accepted cards are below:
