Get a 360 Elite. They cost about the same as a PS3 used to, plus they have support for 1080p, along with a 120GB hard drive and an oh-so-sexy black case.

So, 360 Elite. Chop chop.

$599. That leaves $300 for games, Live, and accessories.

*sigh* OMG, random price drops FTL. <__________<

Ahem, anyway, I'd reccomend Dead Rising and Lost Planet. I enjoy both to no end.

Oblivion and Overlord are the only games here I've played and enjoyed that no one has mentioned yet. Also, get Geometry Wars, !@#$% awesome game. Gets so intense.

Make sure you preorder BioShock, Left 4 Dead, TF2, and Assassin's parkour as well. Oh yeah, and Lost Odyssey.

Oh yes Geometry Wars the best XBL arcade game yet, although that new Pac-Man Champion edition looks pretty tight too.

I don't advise getting one tomorrow because the price is dropping the 12th http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2007/07/31/circuit-city-ad-confirms-360-price-drop-on-all-models/.  There's more info on CheapAssGamer you should check out.  If stores still have it, you might look for a bundle (not a console bundle; an accessories bundle) that includes the Xbox Live Vision Cam and the 13 months of Live and 200 points.  It's a pretty good deal. Lumines is an awesome Live Arcade game, and I also recommend Fable if you haven't played it.  Gears of War is fun especially with online coop.  Also, the black finish on the 360 elite is matte, but I didn't notice its ugliness until I put a PS3 next to it.

Elite comes with Geometry Wars Preloaded onto the harddrive. I sugest you buy Hexic HD, the game that comes on the Premium's hardrive, with the points you were going to buy Geometry Wars with.

Live Arcade recommendations:

Bomberman Live
Contra
Doom
Double Dragon
Golden Axe
Pac Man Championship Edition
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3

My elite came with Hexic not Geometry Wars...  I don't know where you got the idea it comes with Geometry Wars.

My games (I don't have many):
Crackdown (A must have!!!)
Guitar Hero II (A must have!!!)
Kameo (meh)
Perfect Dark Zero (Quite good)
Call of Duty 3 (Crashes too often...get on Wii if possible)
Rainbow Six Vegas (A must have!!!)
Splinter Cell - Double Agent (Very good)

I also recommend Overlord. I have it on PC, it's awesome. If possible get Oblivion on your PC, because if you can run it, the PC version has player-made mods so has the capacity to be much much much much better than the retail version.

The best recommendation I could possibly give you would be this. Demos. Download lots and lots of free demos and play them before you consider buying anythings. Game, Xbox live, and Points.

  • Xbox Live (and VC) games are just old games you possibly own already, or could emulate. except maybe Bomberman Live.
  • If you don't have a HDTV, games like Dead Rising and Lost Planet are unreadable.
  • Roughly 75% of the games available for the 360 are FPS'
  • A lot of the games people recommend aren't even out yet

Download free demos of anything you consider buying, so you can save yourself time and money.

Also, Overlord is just like Pikmin but with a lot less personality.

But a lot more evil and massacre. Screw them cute things, sending brown goblin-things to storm and massacre a village called spree is SO much more satisfying XD

Huh, I remember reading somewhere that the Elite comes with Geometry Wars. Must've been wrong.
