Who said retro was dead? Its yet another breakout clone! This time using realistic physics! Written out of mild boredom over the last 3 days!

At the moment it is almost complete, only things left to do are add some more map packs, and get mammy to record a couple of other voiceover things.

Yup. Graphics all by me, thus they suck. That font was the only real one I could find that would fit it correctly.

BTW you may wish to restart the download, I just reuploaded it to fix a map-progression bug that forced you to only use level 1 XD.

Ha that game was pretty awesome. I'd say the music was the best part. And the particles were sexy. I like it, 4.5 stars from me.

EDIT: Highscore! I demand an award. :P

This is the best breakout clone ive ever seen.
Bugs? Ive noticed that sometimes when you hit a ??? block you get 2 things.
Also, the score and # of balls should be moved to the top.

lol, glad you like it.

Anyway I've uploaded a new version that fixs a couple of bugs, and also makes the score/life text at the bottom semi-transparent so it dosen't block your view (I would move it to the top, but it dosen't look that good up there :S).

No, Helios doesn't like easy and horrible languages such as GameMaker. BlitzMax isn't that bad anyways.. it's actually pretty good. Anywho, good work Helios! I reclaimed the throne of #1 again... though, I know someone will pass me again :p.

God no. I never use BlitzMax for anything nowadays except for the occassional projects when I'm bored (like this one) and want really fast results, anything major I usually write in C++ or C#.

I think you mean High Level, not low level. If your going to insult things, get your terminology right. And BlitzMax isn't high level, although relatively new and unrespected it is actually only a small amount higher-level than C, it contains all the features you would commonly use in more resepected languages. It just has a more mnemonic orientated syntax.

Anyway highscore tables are easy. You write a php script that you can call to add/remove/list all highscores in a database, you then simply call these script from your program (essentially the same as downloading a file), and read the output (the downloaded content). How you choose to store the data in the database, and how you format the output is your choice.
