Anyone used Google Wave yet?
If you haven't heard of it, it's a cool email/IM/discussion board(and more probably) client that, in typical Google fashion, runs completely in the browser.
Right now it's invite only. My brother got me an invite and once I get some I can give them to some zfgc users.
So has anyone tried it yet? What do you think of it?

So who has seen Inglourious Basterds?
I saw it yesterday and really liked it.
I thought it was a little slow towards the middle, but other than that it was a great movie.

Entertainment / What are you reading?
« on: July 16, 2009, 05:51:42 pm »
I just finished reading Fight Club. I read the whole thing in one day, which might not be out of the ordinary for some people, but I'm a really slow reader. I absolutely loved it. I can really relate with all the themes expressed in the novel. I also liked the very fast pace of the writing, it kept me interested through the whole thing. I watched the movie right after I read it. The movie was also very good, but didn't touch on all the same themes as the book, and made the anti-consumerism theme a lot more obvious and prevalent.

I've just started reading The 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene. It's very interesting and an enlightening read. The book is pretty dense with historical examples and anecdotes relating to the laws, so it is taking me a while to read. So far it is very good though. I would definitely recommend this to people who are interested in how people who have power attain that power and keep it.

Focus: What are you currently reading? Would you recommend it to others? Or ask for suggestions on what to read next.

So I know we've had a topic about this game before, but since it was featured at E3 I figured we could have a new one.
I just noticed that IGN named this game the best showing at E3, which made me remember how good this game looked.
At first I was a skeptical about the whole "You can type in anything" aspect of it. I thought how could they possibly have everything I can think of with a sprite and unique properties? The developers insist that there is actually anything you could think of in this game, I guess we'll see when it comes out.
Overall, this game looks like it could be really good. It seems like its going to have a lot of replay value in trying to think of absurd ways to solve the puzzles.

Focus: Who else is looking forward to this game? Do you think it can live up to the hype and the claims made for it?

Entertainment / My name is Tucker Max, and I am an !@#$%.
« on: April 25, 2009, 08:19:31 pm »
Anybody read his stories? I'm currently reading his book and loving it.

For people who don't know him, here's the description on his site:
"My name is Tucker Max, and I am an !@#$%.

I get excessively drunk at inappropriate times, disregard social norms, indulge every whim, ignore the consequences of my actions, mock idiots and posers, sleep with more women than is safe or reasonable, and just generally act like a raging dickhead.

But, I do contribute to humanity in one very important way. I share my adventures with the world."

Going by that description he seems like the last person I would want to read about. But he is such a good story teller and actually incredibly intelligent, which makes the stories hilarious.

Entertainment / More Information than you Require
« on: January 17, 2009, 09:04:05 pm »
Has anyone read either of these books?

For people who haven't heard of them: They are books about complete world knowledge (the catch is that all the knowledge has been made up) written by John Hodgman, most people know him as PC, from the "Get a Mac" ads.

The first one was absolutely hilarious. I'm about half way through More Information... and it's just as good. I can't wait until it comes out on audiobook.
So I definitely recommend getting either of these books, and especially getting the first one in audiobook form.

So I think there's some Kanye fans on here. Maybe not since Takam never comes here :(

Apparently this new album is streaming on http://www.myspace.com/kanyewest . But it doesn't seem to work for me(maybe US only).

So anyone heard this one (even though it comes out tomorrow)? I originally didn't think I'd like it, seeing as its basically a pop album with no rapping from Kanye. But, it's grown on me and I'm really starting to like it. I also thought the auto-tuned vocals would get irritating, but they work well on here.

What are other's thoughts on this one?

« on: September 20, 2008, 09:10:20 pm »
I'm of course talking about Deltron 3030.
I just recently listened to this album. MY GOD, is it a great album. Definitely one of the best (if not the best) hip-hop albums I've ever heard.
I know there are some other fans of this amazing group and album out there.
So what's everyone else think about this album

It got pretty good reviews. I'm very interested in this game and will probably get it soon.
So has anyone played this game yet?

Discussion / ZFGC community SMW Romhack
« on: December 22, 2007, 03:59:46 pm »
So first of all, Mods I had no idea where to put this. So if it's in the wrong spot, please move it.
I'm pretty sure this isn't against the rules because there is a romhack in the completed projects.

So this Idea was inspired by .Takam's post about ZFGC not finishing project so I though, why not make a project that is extremely easy to finish.

So I propose that we make a Super Mario World Romhack!
This was done with the Vip Mario series of rom hacks with a large forum in Japan. The Vip Hacks ended up being very creative and fun games.

So basically what would happen is that people who are interested would get Lunar Magic(I'll mention more about this later) and create a few levels for the heck. We would then have a person in charge of making the over world and putting everything together.

The great thing about a project like this is it doesn't require very much commitment from the makers. People could spend only a few hours(or less) and be done with their part.

A program called Lunar Magic is used to heck the roms. It can be downloaded here
Lunar Magic makes it really easy to edit the levels.

So I'm wondering whether there would be any interest for this project?

Entertainment / Recommend me some good rap
« on: November 29, 2007, 03:55:57 am »
So a while ago I really hated rap. Then one of my friends who is a fellow metalhead recommended me some, and I saw how good this music could be.
So now I'm looking for some more rap and any help would be greatly appreciated
So far I've listened to:
Graduation - Kanye West (amazing album!)
Low End Theory - A Tribe Called Quest
Quality Control - Jurassic 5

So this is out.
I'm seriously considering buying it once I have money. I have HL2 already but nothing else that comes in the box. Is it still worth the money?
And how's TF2, it looks really interesting but I'd like to see how it stands.
