You can get a decent tablet for relatively cheap, and Photoshop for even cheaper, cough. PS might seem a bit intimidating at first, but really you just need to mess around with it for awhile and you should get the hang of it. I barely know how to use anything but the basic features and that's all I've ever really needed to do whatever I want to do....plus there are a billion of tutorials out there if you ever need them.
