Updates / Re: Afluent in Game Maker?
« on: March 23, 2009, 03:06:55 am »
Looks like there's already plenty of help, but I'm somewhat of a GML user if you're seriously in need of some extra hands. I don't have any completed projects to show but I've touched on RPG, shoot-em-ups, and action adventure games a bit in the past. This is the only example I have online at the moment: Code snipplet here.

Really though, I'm just waiting for a certain job if it becomes available, but while I'm waiting I might as well put my card out there, right?

Depends on a lot of things. Like who writes it and what audience they wrote it for, and whether or not Koji Kondo is composing the soundtrack. lol

In all seriousness if a Zelda movie were to be made, it probably wouldn't stay too close to the game. The movie market and game markets are completely different, and Nintendo or whoever would be in charge of making the film would cater towards the larger demographic (the main-stream movie goers). That's not to say it will be bad, or not-Zelda-y, but I can see some major changes being made to the plot in order for the film to make sense on the big screen.

Sorry, Darklight. I was down yesterday with a horrible back pain. I'll have my entry turned in by tonight.

Sorry, that's not what I meant. I was suggesting we go ahead and call it a tie and move on to the next phase. :P

Okay... So... Let's consider it a tie between Majora's Mask and Link's Awakening. Now what? What's next?

My stomach hurts. I'm almost done, just need to finish up. I was tryig to find the name of this one orchestral effect so I can make sure I was doing it correctly, but no luck. It's when the instruments play random notes, usually to build suspense. At least I think that's how it works. I used to have a sample somewhere but I can't find it. :(

It's a close fight between my two favorite Zelda games. :'( It only hurts a little.

Again, I agree we start simple with Link's Awakening. Everything is already laid out for us (the game was already in 2D), all we have to do is rebuild and/or add-on. If or when we do finish it then we take that experience and try something a little more difficult. Right?

I voted Link's Awakening. Besides being my favorite Zelda title to date, I think it would be easiest to start and actually complete.

Well that or the original Zelda game.  XD

Really, really late (and probably old), but what I think this forum needs is a fresh batch of members. So advertising, cross-site promotions with some affiliates -- just get ZFGC out there. It feels so closed in right now, imo.

Sorry again if that's been discusses before, but, yeah, there's my opinion.

^^ Might explain my problem above.  :(

EDIT: Sorry for the error guys! I made a embarrasing mistake! It tried to load a sound that I didn't include, because I wasn't using it... I fixed it now!
Here's the fixed version.

Yup, it works now! I love the retro feel of it - the graphics and the sound effects.

I don't know if this is my computer or the game: The keyboard input started lagging real bad after the first game-over (I decided to try again). It's now lagging even when I close down and re-open the program. At first I thought it was the keyboard's batteries or sensor but I'm having no problem with it now, only in-game. :S

I also receive an error when opening the file on Windows XP.

frogger.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience.

The error occurs when I double-click on the .exe file (to run it).

Edit -
Did you extract the Frogger.exe and res folder somewhere?

I extracted the files to my desktop in a folder called "Frogger".

Sorry. I was actually working on this for you before my computer started acting up. I'll finish up the song I was doing and send it over. :(

Edit - Done and PM'ed.

Very cool! Scrolling down from Phoenix to Harvey sent a nice chill down my spine. 8)

I would love to frame my work as you did yours (it's nice to perserve your work) and I always mean to set aside a couple of bucks for some frames. However I never really thought I drew anything I thought was worth framing. Maybe I should take screenshots of my games and frame them! :P

Thank you. :) I went ahead an re-did the song, using different samples and editing some of the parts.

Very nice, I like the quietness of it all. The instruments fit very well together, save for the violin (?) at the beginning -- sounds like the player has a heavy tremolo finger. Also, yeah, the end is a bit disappointing.

I reorchestrated one of my favorite pieces from Mother 3. Take a listen and tell me what you think:
