On a few occasions I've accidentally posted a topic in the wrong board and had to PM a moderator to move it for me.  I think it would be convenient and perhaps save the mod.'s some trouble to give the thread-author the option to move his or her own topic.  I'm not sure if that would be possible, but it seems like a good idea so I thought I would mention it.

Thoughts?

Seems logical, but I'll wait for more staff opinions.

That would be a great feature.  Thinking about it from a defensive point of view, only allowing them to move their topic once (or once per day) would be an excellent idea to prevent idiots from spamming the new feature.  Aside from that, I really don't see how this could cause any harm.  That is unless it would leave behind a link to the new topic where it was originally posted.

Mmm... might be hard to do from an admin's perspective tho... maybe not, I've never done much with modding smf.

It is actually a permission configurable from the admin panel. The big problem I see is that SMF lets members move their topic to ANY board, even boards which other members cannot see, leading to confusion.
Just PM a moderator. I don't think there are major issues with it. It's just two clicks :) If you don't want to PM a moderator, PM me. It isn't a bother at all.

I see.  I have no problem with that.  It was just an idea, I didn't know whether it would be possible or not so I thought I would mention it.  Thanks for the response.
