Thank you Zeldaknack, the dialog is roughly 2% complete as I'm still at the beginning and have to include details for camera shots and specific cut scenes or animation timing to go along with the dialog.

I'm staying true to the cinematic quality from OoT :3

- Create the entire story in Game Maker or RPG Maker as a 'movie' game which may not be playable to further get the game going and also find out what needs to stay, be added or even removed/modified.

def go rpg maker, its a lot easier and virtually no programming, just preset commands you could even roll with rm2k which is very outdated but the easiest to use and probably the fastest to flesh out your story if you go this route

or just story board it =P

Game Maker is like pulling teeth(it mostly seems aimed at programmers and I'm not one), RPG Maker is even better... but I can't seem to get RPG Maker working due to a stupid trial license requirement and I'm internetless on my PC.

I downloaded some message system engines at my parents house by generous programmers for Game Maker here though and that may come in handy.
(I'm using a 4GB cruzer thumb drive)

xD, yeah right. If it were aimed at programmers, it would have less "shitty GUI" and more "badass scripting/programming." :P

There are other RPG creation programs that you could use. I can look around and see what I think would be best, if you'd like.

There's such a double standard about religion in the modern world. Catholics can gather, wear white robes, and say "In nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti" and be considered normal.

But if my friends and I gather, wear black robes, and say  "Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn", we're considered cultists.

All I even need is just a way to make a cinematic story by setting steps or even spline/paths to focus on what happens first.

If the message system was as easy as RPG Maker I would have no complaints.
But I'm using Game Maker once my dialog script is golden/finished.

It still helps to be prepared though :3

Good news everyone!

This so far unnamed project of Zelda has reached it's 95% dialog completion goal!
I have to still further refine parts of the story, add interesting stuff and make everything interesting.

Right now the story version created in RPG Maker VX is still going through development and has reached the 95% completion for dialog.

The story itself is 100% completed and ready, I just needed to create the dialog and it's near finished.

Goals before the game goes through public beta testing and critique:

Finish the dialog from 95 to 100%
Extend the games story more as it is far too short
Go through and edit any necessary parts to make sense
Change, alter, remove or add any necessary dialog
Double check story and Dialog for consistency
Begin adding side characters and crowds plus towns-people
Do a final check on story and dialog

Preparation for 3D development:

Restore needed character models from Ocarina of Time
Restore needed environment/level models as well
Design new characters and model them out
Create 3D item models based on the story
Create animations and fix existing ones
Design and create new environment/level models
Design and create 3D model enemies
Create animations for the enemies
Create icons for new items
Restore menu system from OoT
Restore sky-box from OoT

High Resolution Goals:

Remodel Link based on original OoT design (Or just take his SSB Melee model)
Add extra polygons and better textures for environment models
Give important side characters more detailed models
Give unimportant characters less model and texture detail
Add ambient and other high quality sounds
Use next generation particle effects

High resolution is a graphical enhancement only, the story and dialog remain the same.
Older PC users may not be able to play the high resolution version.

Double check everything and let the programmer finish the rest.

Offer public beta testing for any errors or problems.
Do final check on the overall game, story, dialog, graphics, animations, RAM usage, bugs and anything that prevents the player from having fun.
Finish and release the game as finished/complete and call it golden!

It's official now!

This Zelda project will also be developed on Unity.
The DX Studio launch is planned and in development as we speak.

I may not be a programmer but after heavy and extensive practice and studying I realize I can easily create this game in Unity with very little to no scripting.
(Their Lerpz tutorial literally is a pre-made game and VERY critical for this Zelda game)
With moderate modifications to few or several severe modifications I can easily create the game in a matter of a few months.

(The Unity Community has a treasure trove of scripts and helpful content for non programmers like me and I have done some experimentation too)

The DX Studio launch isn't announced yet but as soon as I get my assets done and prepared I will be developing in Unity and create my own release based on it.

You should really share a bit of your story. Otherwise, you're just another "ideas guy", except you've been working on your idea for the past three years.

Ill reupload it later unless someone wants to upload it for me?
I'm sure some of you who long ago downloaded the demos still have it?

I lack a connection to my PC but will be paying for one soon.

And about the story, I'll update everything soon as the story is finished :3

Ah, nice to see this project is still going. :) I think I remember when this thread was posted.

Anyway, I've recently switched to Unity too, for a multiplayer Zelda fangame. I would love to talk about how you set certain things up in Unity, as I'm still figuring much of the implementation for my game out.

I just wanted to inform everyone that I am back online with my PC.

There is only one image I have taken a screenshot of and the game itself, seeing as how I am the only person working on the Unity3D version, is being made by me in Unity3D so the camera work and controls are not suitable to post a new demo yet.

I have really been working hard on this while learning new things, I am not perfect at this nor am I the best but I am putting a lot of effort into making this possible despite the negative claims I receive.

Some of you think I am posting for attention or saying but not doing.
As most of you should know I have not really taken screen-shots during the time I had no internet on my PC but instead have been learning Unity3D to the point where I can finally get somewhere.
Despite these claims I am working on the game, please visit the site for more information and screen-shots and builds.

The storyline has dramatically changed and almost re-written from scratch.
The RPG Maker VX version was finished for the storyline and dialog and the 3D translation is being using it as reference, plus other stuff is being implemented even though it is not in the RPG Maker version.

I spent most of my time trying to change things and updating people on what I am doing.
Anyway, I will continue to post more information on what I am doing and updates.

Here is a screen-shot from the engine playing a cut-scene, yes IN-GAME and NOT a mockup.
As stated in the site, this is from the as of yet final storyline version in progress.
There are some errors with the cap and other glitches but that is just temporary.
Here Link is approaching Hyrule Castle but is denied and told to scram, leading to Kokiri Forest where the real story begins.

Its been a long time since I last posted, and I DID take a break from the entire project after working on another one to refresh myself.

As much as you have all anticipated this fan-game, I am realizing I have completely made a horrible mistake... a serious one.

The entire project is very unorganized, this was my FIRST serious game creation project, other than RPG Maker, and I am just now realizing that I organized my entire folder specifically for DX Studio a long time ago and is obsolete.

For a while I will be re-doing everything including model rips, re-creating the animations and so on... however that won't be much of a problem at all because I really want to finish this game off so I will be taking most of the content from Ocarina of Time to cut down on production time.
New tools have been discovered which make the ripping, fixing and repairing process faster and easier too.

Anyway, that is my big news.
To be honest, I do not really want to re-do most of it but I realized I am having issues in particular areas due to poor design when I first began and I have learned a LOT from my mistakes too, so I will be absent to properly organize the entire project from scratch.

And to those of you who think I am going to quit and cancel the project, this project will never end until I feel like I myself can enjoy the game until its completion :3

My first idea is to start out by ripping Link, fixing the model and textures, creating his animations and modeling the only dungeon in the game which still needs more design... but Link will be re-ripped and re-rigged (can you believe I was not aware of unit measurement issues in game development?)

After I am pretty sure those are both done, I can focus on just ripping instead of putting off designing the dungeon.

Until later! :3

Just in case you care, you've got the Japanese in the title the wrong way around (making it say "goddess's darkness", or "darkness of the goddess")

^^What he said :P It's a common misconception to think that "no" means "of", but it's just to be possessive.

You could think of it as "of", you just need to reverse around the rest of it :P
Although it'd never a good idea to try to comprehend Japanese using English. Ever >_< lol

Sorry for taking things slightly off topic though, just love Japanese :D
