Community Announcements-- The Themematic Original Music Composition Contest is now officially going to happen as well as it is accepting applicants to participate in it. Contact Darklight or Q.K. for information related to this event, or better yet follow the other item in the news for a link to it.
-- The boards Completed Projects, Zelda/Other Development, Scrapped Projects, Ideas and Concepts, and ZFGC Official Contests boards and some categories have been renamed for simplification and styling. The Character Contest board was moved to the Topic Archive, #ZFGC was deleted due to non-use, and all things related to ZFGC University have been removed due to it not being able to progress.
-- The Project of the Month for February has been chosen. You can view it in the Zelda WIP section or follow an upcoming news item that features an interview with the creator of the project. Congratulations to the user and project chosen.
-- Yubel has been added to the site staff. He'll be working on images for forum themes and site news items. In fact, you may have seen his banners featured quite a bit in issues of the Weekly. In regard to other applications for the site staff, no further decisions have been made yet and the application process itself is still open.
-- #ZFGC is no longer on *.windfyre.net, it is now located on irc.kbfail.net. In addition, ownership of the chat has went from DJvenom to Vash. Beyond that all is fine.
Best of the ForumMultiple Words and the Polysyllabic.http://www.zfgc.com/forum/index.php?topic=33527.0So I actually have employment here on campus now, which is fantastic because not having any money sucks. A lot.
My first job is actually writing for the school paper, the Northern Iowan. I get paid $1 per column inch, so about $20 an article. It isn't much, but I'm getting paid to write, so I'm not complaining. The hours are also really flexible, which is a necessity with my schedule. Here are some of the articles I've written so far in case anybody's interested:
http://www.northern-iowan.org/debate_highlights_students_nisg_candidate_choices-1.1476509
http://www.northern-iowan.org/author_speaks_about_new_york_times_bestseller-1.1475361
http://www.northern-iowan.org/a_challenge_to_the_status_quo-1.1569307
I also got another job working for a museum here in town as an exhibit. I'm going to be a man named Nile Kinnick, who apparently was an amazing player for the Iowa Hawkeyes in the late 30s and won the Heisman Trophy. He died in a training exercise during World War II. I'm supposed to research him and write a 15 minute monologue which I will perform at the museum twice. I'm getting paid $10 for ever hour I spend researching, writing, rehearsing, and performing the monologue. It's a relatively new program, so I'll have an almost unlimited amount of creative freedom with which I can really make this performance my own.
Sifting the Alphabet Soup.http://www.zfgc.com/forum/index.php?topic=33548.0H2O => mass: 2*mass_of_H + mass_of_O = 2*1+16=18
(H2O)5 => 5*18 = 90
CuSO4.(H2O)5 => mass_of_Cu(63.5)+mass_of_S(32)+4*mass_of_O(16)+5*water(18)=63.5+32+64+90=249.5
So... 90/249.5*100% =~ 36.07%m/m of water (we use %m/m since we're dividing mass by mass; there's also %m/v and %v/v)
Ideas Given.http://www.zfgc.com/forum/index.php?topic=33518.0Dunno, just thought it'd be a little fun. No real privledge or anything, just instead of normal rankings all the people who have been a member for a certain number of years and has (at some point) contributed to the forum greatly should get a nice shiny tag instead of the normal ranking .
Like a golden "Veteran" Tag.
All in good fun though

http://www.zfgc.com/forum/index.php?topic=33454.0Alright, that's awesome. Feel free to add anything whenever you like, Darklight. We're all in this together.
Did some more:
I think that's enough from me for one night.

http://www.zfgc.com/forum/index.php?topic=33515.0So I've tried to mix whole-tone and modal scales to create a different atmosphere to my music.
It may sound a bit dissonant in the beginning, but it's on purpose.
This piece is about: Evil fairies trying to seduce an adventurer.

http://www.zfgc.com/forum/index.php?topic=33569.0I've been lucky enough to get a paid job as a composer for a finnish short movie, called "Shadow of the Demon Knight" and I thought I could share a little piece with you guys. The movie has excellent stunts and the director is a very talented guy with video editing and of course directing. You can find the clip here:

http://www.zfgc.com/forum/index.php?topic=33460.0You know the feeling of wanting to create a game with that just astounding concept of how the game is going to be like and what you want to do with it.
Its all good and ready to go, you can just imagine what is going to happen, what your game is all about and are ready to surf the net looking for a game engine or build one yourself, but then it hits you as you open the 3D or 2D game engine and sit for 5 minutes telling yourself... just what am I creating?

Big QuestionLast week's question: Should there be a Zelda game with a plot in which Link dies and cannot be revived by fairies?
Summary of answers: It would only be fine if Link was replaced in game by another hero character.
This week's question:
If additional, new user ranks were to be added, what would you suggest that they be?
