ITT we discuss incest and whether it is right or wrong.

Well, recently a 30 year old girl reunited with her father, and they fell in love, then eventually had a child. Is this right or wrong?

I feel it is quite abnormal. A child is supposed to be an object of two peoples love for each other, so finding love after your already supposed to have found love, it is strange. I wouldn't say it's wrong, just quite abnormal.

I think that you just shouldn't fall in love and all that with a relative. When people have children with someone that shares there genes, its more likely that illnesses will appear. Say a brother has a 1/14 chance of getting cancer, and he has a sister with the same odds, if they have a child, I'm pretty sure it would be a 1/7 chance of getting cancer. That's also why its healthier to have children with someone from a completely different lineage, because there is a far less chance of having similar health problems.

Everyone's just going to say "It's wrong!" because they're too scared to say anything else. I'm not saying otherwise, but I doubt anyone is going to come in here and seriously say "Incest is awesome, I do it all the time!"

But anyone who can get along with their family enough to want to have sex with them is lucky in my book. Even if I was the most incestuous person in the would I wouldn't touch anyone in my family with a 10 foot pool. They all !@#$% me off way to often, and way too much.

From a Genetic point of view, I don't advise it. Deformed babies are ugly.
From a Social point of view, I don't advise it. Nobody likes being beaten up (except Masochists).

Personal? I base my personal view of it on the Genetic and Social point of view: Deformed babies are ugly and I am not a Masochist, so I don't like being beaten up. I don't do it.

if you fall in love with a relative, not necessarily your closest ones, maybe a cousin
why the hell not :P
mines gorgeous and smart, though because of humanity being full of !@#$% rules that range as far back as the dark ages, i cant bring myself to even contemplate on it

It's called the Oedipal complex, and it's less about actually wanting to do the act and more about a subconscious attraction to her. You probably have experienced it, but obviously didn't act on it as it was an unknown desire.

If they are directly related to you it's creepy. Step siblings would be ok. Honestly. If you parents split up and your Dad marries a girl who has an incredibly hot daughter, it wouldn't be incest then IMO.

I think the entire premise of incest becoming wrong started with the Bible. There was Absolom and his half sister Tamar (Tai-maer)....Absolom had just a desire to sleep with his sister but he confided his thoughts to a friend(forgot his name lol)...And that friend told him to basically rape his sister and pretty much from that point on is when really shitty things happen to those who have incest.  But, that's only if you believe the Bible from the historical perspective, so stfu about you don't believe the about and its religion.  I was talking  merely from a historical point, so let's not turn this into a religion debate.

!@#$% like that *has* happened in the past. It doesn't say whether or not they were aware that they were related upon starting a sexual relationship. I've seen things like that happen with twins that were seperated at birth. You have to realize that when you fall in love with someone it's someone you're very close with, someone you probably consider your best friend (or one of them at least). People end up finding each other some how and sometimes sexual relationships spur out of that. (Remember the time JD found out his girlfriend really was having their baby in Scrubs? and he didn't want it to be a hot girl because he'd end up trying to bang her? -- That kind of !@#$%, it happens).

With that said, incest does cause deformities, however you're less likely to see them with the first generation of the baby.

Also, as for Gonzo's statement, to make a note. I believe America is one of the only western countries that disallow cousins to marry.

I personally feel if you cannot control whom you fall in love with. From a moral stand point, a sexual relationship with someone within your immediate family might not be the best of ideas. Your sibling is your closest genetic match (duh), your parents less so, cousins very little.

I think its wrong.

But, people are born with free will, so they can do what they want; not my place to codemn them for it; but at the same time, I dont have to agree with it at all :p

I personally dont think its fair to the child to have a daddy that's also it's grandpa.

It is only cool in the case of twin sisters as then really it is just masturbatory acts; twin brothers would be impaling each other probably, so it would be different.
(Well... I guess this is sexist kind of, but follow my point, if the sisters are making out, then that is where it is culturally wrong because they are touching a parallel part that individually they only have one of, if one is making out downstairs with the other one, then that is masturbatory)


Otherwise I say that the way the law is set up is meant to protect children who grow up in families.  Otherwise, the law should be lessened due to it being consenting adults.  If people want to claim that it is bad for society to let it happen (which is why there are laws, to protect the good of society), then people also have to recognize that there are genetic defects in everyone and in today's society.  They should also recognize that contraception is a safer method than it was when those laws were probably passed.

Have you done it or something? Just because you like porn or hentai about incest, that doesn't mean it's okay.
