Title: [Solved] LTTP Weather
Post by: King Tetiro on August 31, 2006, 11:20:34 am
In Goqec Swamp, you get rain poruing down forever due to Deckra's Curse. But there are 2 other curses. Mutant had created a Lava Pool where Tzgar Village's water supply was and made all the villagers leave.

But Rockhide.....

That's why I need

1-Thunder
2-Fog
3-Snow (If possible)
4-Wind
5-Anything else

Credit will be given.

I know theres a snow one, and perhaps you could recolor the snowflakes to looks dark brown/red, like volcanic ash or something for a village near lava. Just an idea.

I don't have any weather overlays though, sorry.

Fog:

Oh and here's some snow:

It only loops once as the person who made it used GM to animate it... but I'm not sure who it was that made this..

For wind it might be good to have sound effects of possibly leaves blowing across the screen.

And I assume you mean lightning rather than thunder as thunder is just the sound?

In LTTP the screen just flashes when lightning strikes but I do have this:

I think its .TakaM's but I can't be 100% sorry.

And indeed thanks would be nice :-\.

Well to do this you just need to draw a big white box to the screen call the thunder clap sound effect and then remove the big white box. Or if you want to be fancy have it fade in quickly then fade out quickly and I mean really quickly.

Another cool thing is have it so the thunder clap is often a little behind the flash as it would be in real life(unless the strike is very near).

Oh and I suggest you have it so it sets a variable to a random number and then every second take one away from that variable, then when the variable is equal to 0 you call the strike and set the counter to a random number again.. I hope you understand :).

I don't know, its easy enough for you guys to check though as it only has 2 colours.

Er no I don't understand.

Oh well what exactly don't you understand? What I just explained is sort of how LTTP does lighting and thunder..

I could just do a lightning flash at animation end. Anyway, have you got wind sprites?

Its my snow.

Alternative form of lighting would be using Aghanims lighning attack:
Download such Frames here: http://www.megaworm.com/images/./data/media/6/wizard_Lightning.zip
Preview of one of the frames:

An optimised fog overlay that would have to be tiled:

Stuffy, Kokiri styled overlay:

Blizzard overlay:

Woods overlay if you ever need it >_>:

..Wind can't really be seen.. It would be in the animations like leaves blowing off of tree objects, flags etc.

However, Desert Wind:

If you think something like that, but grey, witha  really high alpha value would do, ask me and i'll convert its colours.

..In case you plan of having blowing leaves, you can cop individual leaves out of this image:

You could try contacting rtwilli about the wind effets.  He made this animation that might work:
