My touchpad just broke!

I was just watching videos of MGS4, when all of a sudden my touch pad freezes up! I'm using a laptop, and it's pretty decent- but now the mouse just flat out won't work. I didn't do anything to it, didn't press anything. I checked if I might have bizarrely disabled the mouse, but even when I disable it then enable it it still won't work. At all. So I have to navigate using the tab key. >_> Help?

We have one computer with a regular mouse, but that's my sister's and she'd never let me borrow it.

Umm, this kinda problem is usually solved with a system restart.

Hmmmm the touchpad on my laptop sometimes does very strange things, and a couple of times it froze for a bit but if i left it alone it would then go back to normal. This probably is not much help whatsoever :-\ but yeah, dont touch it for a bit then try again, or press ctrl alt del a few times, i do that sometimes when my touchpad goes haywire haha :P

Why don't you use a mouse? the touchpad sucks bad in my opinion.
