Debates / When is lying okay?
« on: October 29, 2007, 09:53:09 am »
My sister and I had this discussion a while back.

When is lying okay?

Is it okay to lie when you're protecting the feelings of another?

Updates / Administrative Changes
« on: October 15, 2007, 05:36:30 am »
Originally we were going to dissolve the events team, however with a bit of discussion 4Sword and myself decided to keep it and do something different with it. Possum was officially removed from his duties a few weeks ago (notification was given, no hard feelings at all between either groups. Possum served us well and is still, and will always be a friend of ZFGC's.

Here is a break down of our current administration, the two new administrators will be listed at the bottom, both of them are former ZFGC, GamersAdvanced, or DSRevolution administrators.

Andrew // General management
4Sword // General management/ moderation (edit: According to 4Sword his 's' is capitalized :o)
Windy // Development
Kirby // Technical administrator/development
metallica48423 // Technical administrator
cppchriscpp // Chat administrator
Hoffy // Events coordination
NeoGeo-x // Events coordination

Yes, we have a large administrative team, however I think the past shows us it worked. Kirby, Metallica and Windy all play a back role, rarely doing any moderation. Hoffy and Neo will most likely do the same.

Welcome your new administrators. :)

~ Andrew

Please, any other admins // staff add your thoughts if you have any.

Updates / Maintenance, Server Change & Other Stuff
« on: October 01, 2007, 01:12:16 am »
Alright my friends. I was going to spring a random server change on you guys today, but I decided I'll wait until mid-next month. This will give Kirbs and I a chance at getting stuff organized before it happens.

To minimize costs of both other projects and ZFGC I have decided to go half-way price wise with a friend of mine on his reseller account. I recommended he use surpass a few months ago, and we had been planning on doing this for the past few months, but due to my laziness i never got around to actually doing it. The plan was to do it this past week, but do to an unfortunately busy week at work (Air Conditioning died in the server room -- mind you its always *HOT* here) I was a bit tired and busy. Then my desktop decided to take a dump (second time in three weeks, first power supply, now AGP slot died). None the less, lets just say I didn't get a chance to do the *transfer* yet this month.

You can expect it to happen next month, most likely towards the end of the month I'll keep you updated.

I've sent kirby a text message (in hopes he'll come on soon) to discuss the maintenance that needs to be done. If not that will be delayed until later I suppose.

I've been working on a new layout for Windfyre, with that I hope my-not-so-awesome design skills will increase and hopefully I can assist Windy in finishing off the ZFGC layout, as I said before the back-end coding is mostly done its just the design portion we need completed. My layouts are mostly done in CSS and aren't that impressive. I normally have a minimalist clean look: http://osesg.org/index2.html (A project that never happened -- torch gets credit for the design elements i did the overall 'html/css part'). -- Yes I'm aware the bg image is messed up. :) -- Thanks :)

None the less thats whats up on my end. If you have any questions or thoughts please let me know.

Updates / Nintendo Community Fangame Convention
« on: August 09, 2007, 06:49:37 pm »
I’m happy to announce we will be affiliating with the Nintendo Community Fangame Conventionor just “NCFC”. The convention will be held from October 24th to October 29th.

Registration Deadline is: September 29th.

I first want to convey to our users that this is *not* a replacement for z3, I will post further information regarding z3, after this announcement.

The NCFC will allow the entire Nintendo fangame community to join together and see what products are being created within the community. This will be a great way to highlight your creativity as an individual.

The other affiliating websites include: Mario Fan Game Galaxy, Metroid: Fan Mission, the Zelda Game Network and Metroid Headquarters. ZFGC is proud and happy to join with these websites, to let the world know what people have been up to, in the ways of Nintendo fangame creation.

Here is a quote from the website directly regarding the NCFC:

Quote
Thanks to combination of popular demand and inevitability, it's time to start getting ready for the first Nintendo Community Fangame Convention, an effort to create an E3 (the old one, mind you) for Nintendo fangamers all across the board. So far, Mario Fan Games Galaxy, Metroid: Fan Mission, The Zelda Game Network, and Metroid Headquarters have all agreed to participate in this fangaming extravaganza. In addition, the staff of the upcoming game maker Stencyl has agreed to sponsor us.

The current plans for NCFC take place over the course of five days: October 24 to October 28. This is a month prior to the release of Super Mario Galaxy, giving everyone a little something to anticipate before it hits shelves. Anyone making a Nintendo-based fangame is welcome to showcase it at this convention.

Various events are also planned over the five days, including a mini-game competition! Unfortunately, we can't tell you the theme yet because working with it on short notice is half the challenge. And yes, there will be a plethora prizes and Nintendo memorabilia up for grabs. NCFC will also host a - hopefully - 24-hour radio show featuring music and previews of upcoming fangames at the convention. If there is enough demand, we also have plans to allow for various fangame-related workshops.

Also scheduled for NCFC is an exclusive live interview with Charles Martinet, the voice of Mario. Please see this: http://ncfc.taloncrossing.com/martinet.htm for more information on the interview.

If you're interested in having a "booth" at NCFC or hosting a workshop, please see: http://ncfc.taloncrossing.com/register.htm

Stay tuned to this website for more updates on the NCFC - shaping up to be the biggest event in fangaming.

For further information please visit the NCFC website at: http://ncfc.taloncrossing.com/

There are a few more things to add. We have an old button at the bottom of the NCFC web page; it’s the only one I could find off hand. If anyone would like to design us a new (or a few new) affiliation buttons please send them to me via PM. No promises if your button will be used, or if we will use them in the future, please specifically highlight just “ZFGC”. They should be the standard 88 by 31.

ZFGC’s z3 will be delayed indefinitely. Our hopes and goals are to have things ready come Christmas Break. I sincerely apologize for these delays and we hope we can make the best of this. NCFC is not a substitute for z3 and ZFGC would have proudly affiliated with or without z3.

If you have any questions regarding either z3, ZFGC, NCFC or any of its affiliates, please let me know and I will try me best to get those questions answered. I encourage you to join their forums for more information.

If you require hosting for the NCFC please contact me, or utilize the NCFC’s contact page. Project Pages is another hosting option. I will be happy to provide hosting for anyone’s project, I have a few domain names (including this one), along with a reseller package that isn’t being used to its fullest extent.

If anyone else is interested in providing hosting, please contact me, I’ll forward you to the right person.

Feedback / Z3
« on: July 29, 2007, 02:17:51 am »
I could make this a poll, but I don't think a poll will give us the same ability to discuss this in a more mature way. So let me get down to business here.

It seem as if possum as gone inactive. There was no warning of absence issued directly to me or any of the other administrators, so we're not fully sure why/where he has gone. So I feel this is a question best given to the users.

Should we continue with Z3 as planned?

There has been a lot of development/plans behind Z3 for some time now, and its been constantly delayed due to one thing or another. Now, if we do Z3 as planned, putting someone else in charge of it, with such a short notice we could run into a massive failure of a product (Z3 being the product). I feel it may put a lot of strain on that person if they take on the job (whom ever they may be) and as a result, it may cause the project to be a disaster. Now if we agree to cancel/delay Z3 yet again, or indefinitely, we can better plan it out, however the down turn then is, school will be starting soon, which thus results in the lack of ability of some of our members to focus on game creation (which really is a good thing since you should be focusing on school.). We can plan to have it over specific set holiday breaks (most likely Christmas I suppose), or we could make it a more long and drawn out event.

Please share your thoughts on what you would like to see happen to Z3? I'd really hate to see a lot of hard work done by Windy, and a few of the others go to waste.

“I didn’t vote for him,” an American once said, “But he’s my president, and I hope he does a good job.”

That—on this eve of the 4th of July—is the essence of this democracy, in 17 words.  And that is what President Bush threw away yesterday in commuting the sentence of Lewis “Scooter” Libby.

The man who said those 17 words—improbably enough—was the actor John Wayne.  And Wayne, an ultra-conservative, said them, when he learned of the hair’s-breadth election of John F. Kennedy instead of his personal favorite, Richard Nixon in 1960.

“I didn’t vote for him but he’s my president, and I hope he does a good job.”

The sentiment was doubtlessly expressed earlier, but there is something especially appropriate about hearing it, now, in Wayne’s voice: The crisp matter-of-fact acknowledgement that we have survived, even though for nearly two centuries now, our Commander-in-Chief has also served, simultaneously, as the head of one political party and often the scourge of all others.

We as citizens must, at some point, ignore a president’s partisanship. Not that we may prosper as a nation, not that we may achieve, not that we may lead the world—but merely that we may function.

But just as essential to the seventeen words of John Wayne, is an implicit trust—a sacred trust: That the president for whom so many did not vote, can in turn suspend his political self long enough, and for matters imperative enough, to conduct himself solely for the benefit of the entire Republic.

Our generation’s willingness to state “we didn’t vote for him, but he’s our president, and we hope he does a good job,” was tested in the crucible of history, and earlier than most.

And in circumstances more tragic and threatening. And we did that with which history tasked us.

We enveloped our President in 2001.And those who did not believe he should have been elected—indeed those who did not believe he had been elected—willingly lowered their voices and assented to the sacred oath of non-partisanship.

And George W. Bush took our assent, and re-configured it, and honed it, and shaped it to a razor-sharp point and stabbed this nation in the back with it.

Were there any remaining lingering doubt otherwise, or any remaining lingering hope, it ended yesterday when Mr. Bush commuted the prison sentence of one of his own staffers.

Did so even before the appeals process was complete; did so without as much as a courtesy consultation with the Department of Justice; did so despite what James Madison—at the Constitutional Convention—said about impeaching any president who pardoned or sheltered those who had committed crimes “advised by” that president; did so without the slightest concern that even the most detached of citizens must look at the chain of events and wonder: To what degree was Mr. Libby told: break the law however you wish—the President will keep you out of prison?

In that moment, Mr. Bush, you broke that fundamental com-pact between yourself and the majority of this nation’s citizens—the ones who did not cast votes for you. In that moment, Mr. Bush, you ceased to be the President of the United States. In that moment, Mr. Bush, you became merely the President of a rabid and irresponsible corner of the Republican Party. And this is too important a time, Sir, to have a commander-in-chief who puts party over nation.

This has been, of course, the gathering legacy of this Administration. Few of its decisions have escaped the stain of politics. The extraordinary Karl Rove has spoken of “a permanent Republican majority,” as if such a thing—or a permanent Democratic majority—is not antithetical to that upon which rests: our country, our history, our revolution, our freedoms.

Yet our Democracy has survived shrewder men than Karl Rove. And it has survived the frequent stain of politics upon the fabric of government. But this administration, with ever-increasing insistence and almost theocratic zealotry, has turned that stain into a massive oil spill.

The protection of the environment is turned over to those of one political party, who will financially benefit from the rape of the environment. The protections of the Constitution are turned over to those of one political party, who believe those protections unnecessary and extravagant and quaint.

The enforcement of the laws is turned over to those of one political party, who will swear beforehand that they will not enforce those laws. The choice between war and peace is turned over to those of one political party, who stand to gain vast wealth by ensuring that there is never peace, but only war.

And now, when just one cooked book gets corrected by an honest auditor, when just one trampling of the inherent and inviolable fairness of government is rejected by an impartial judge, when just one wild-eyed partisan is stopped by the figure of blind justice, this President decides that he, and not the law, must prevail.

I accuse you, Mr. Bush, of lying this country into war.

I accuse you of fabricating in the minds of your own people, a false implied link between Saddam Hussein and 9/11.

I accuse you of firing the generals who told you that the plans for Iraq were disastrously insufficient.

I accuse you of causing in Iraq the needless deaths of 3,586 of our brothers and sons, and sisters and daughters, and friends and neighbors.

I accuse you of subverting the Constitution, not in some misguided but sincerely-motivated struggle to combat terrorists, but to stifle dissent.

I accuse you of fomenting fear among your own people, of creating the very terror you claim to have fought.

I accuse you of exploiting that unreasoning fear, the natural fear of your own people who just want to live their lives in peace, as a political tool to slander your critics and libel your opponents.

I accuse you of handing part of this Republic over to a Vice President who is without conscience, and letting him run roughshod over it.

And I accuse you now, Mr. Bush, of giving, through that Vice President, carte blanche to Mr. Libby, to help defame Ambassador Joseph Wilson by any means necessary, to lie to Grand Juries and Special Counsel and before a court, in order to protect the mechanisms and particulars of that defamation, with your guarantee that Libby would never see prison, and, in so doing, as Ambassador Wilson himself phrased it here last night, of becoming an accessory to the obstruction of justice.

When President Nixon ordered the firing of the Watergate special prosecutor Archibald Cox during the infamous “Saturday Night Massacre” on October 20th, 1973, Cox initially responded tersely, and ominously.

“Whether ours shall be a government of laws and not of men, is now for Congress, and ultimately, the American people.”

President Nixon did not understand how he had crystallized the issue of Watergate for the American people.

It had been about the obscure meaning behind an attempt to break in to a rival party’s headquarters; and the labyrinthine effort to cover-up that break-in and the related crimes.

And in one night, Nixon transformed it.

Watergate—instantaneously—became a simpler issue: a President overruling the inexorable march of the law of insisting—in a way that resonated viscerally with millions who had not previously understood - that he was the law.

Not the Constitution. Not the Congress. Not the Courts. Just him.

Just - Mr. Bush - as you did, yesterday.

The twists and turns of Plame-Gate, of your precise and intricate lies that sent us into this bottomless pit of Iraq; your lies upon the lies to discredit Joe Wilson; your lies upon the lies upon the lies to throw the sand at the “referee” of Prosecutor Fitzgerald’s analogy. These are complex and often painful to follow, and too much, perhaps, for the average citizen.

But when other citizens render a verdict against your man, Mr. Bush—and then you spit in the faces of those jurors and that judge and the judges who were yet to hear the appeal—the average citizen understands that, Sir.

It’s the fixed ballgame and the rigged casino and the pre-arranged lottery all rolled into one—and it stinks.  And they know it.

Nixon’s mistake, the last and most fatal of them, the firing of Archibald Cox, was enough to cost him the presidency.  And in the end, even Richard Nixon could say he could not put this nation through an impeachment.

It was far too late for it to matter then, but as the decades unfold, that single final gesture of non-partisanship, of acknowledged responsibility not to self, not to party, not to “base,” but to country, echoes loudly into history.  Even Richard Nixon knew it was time to resign

Would that you could say that, Mr. Bush. And that you could say it for Mr. Cheney. You both crossed the Rubicon yesterday. Which one of you chose the route, no longer matters. Which is the ventriloquist, and which the dummy, is irrelevant.

But that you have twisted the machinery of government into nothing more than a tawdry machine of politics, is the only fact that remains relevant.

It is nearly July 4th, Mr. Bush, the commemoration of the moment we Americans decided that rather than live under a King who made up the laws, or erased them, or ignored them—or commuted the sentences of those rightly convicted under them—we would force our independence, and regain our sacred freedoms.

We of this time—and our leaders in Congress, of both parties—must now live up to those standards which echo through our history:  Pressure, negotiate, impeach—get you, Mr. Bush, and Mr. Cheney, two men who are now perilous to our Democracy, away from its helm.

For you, Mr. Bush, and for Mr. Cheney, there is a lesser task. You need merely achieve a very low threshold indeed. Display just that iota of patriotism which Richard Nixon showed, on August 9th, 1974.

Resign.

And give us someone—anyone—about whom all of us might yet be able to quote John Wayne, and say, “I didn’t vote for him, but he’s my president, and I hope he does a good job.”

Feedback / Having Issues Connecting to ZFGC?
« on: June 24, 2007, 04:54:08 am »
I'd like to get a list of users going having issues connecting to ZFGC. If you know anyone, or are someone please post here and let me know what issues you've been having.

Our hosting company is seemingly blacklisting users at random, and the number grows day by day. I'm confused at what may be causing this random blacklisting. So if you're using something like Tor to bypass a 'block' of some sort feel free to let us know so we can add you to our list of people who need to be set on a whitelist.

Thanks. :)

Entertainment / My DS Chronicles.
« on: June 24, 2007, 12:44:40 am »
So, a few weeks ago I ordered a DS package from Walmart.com, since DS's here tend to be fairly expensive, plus my mom needed some clothing items, so I figured I'd order them for her.

I got my DS games a few weeks ago, but not her clothes items, or my DS, so finally this weekend I made it to the post office to nab my DS and her clothes.

I get there pick it up, and the box looks all funky, as if it had been repacked. Sure enough, someone stole the DS inside of it. :( I was kind of bummed out and pissed at the same time so I went and bought one from one of the local shops... because why have games and wait six months for a Post Office refund?

I'm going to file my papers on Monday... Oh and by the way I did have a DS lite before this, a white one, I gave it to my mom for mothers day.

Anyway :( Sad.

Debates / Fire Extinguishing Systems
« on: June 21, 2007, 05:21:53 am »
I think most of us most likely heard about the fire that happened in South Carolina this past week, nine firefighters were killed while attempting to 'clear' a build that was on fire. The building was a furniture store that had caught on fire. The store had no water system for fires, a fire extinguishing system. Though this more or less has to do with local state building code laws, than it does with federal laws, should there be a federal law requiring all public places to have some form of fire extinguishing system?

I just watched a story on this a bit ago on the news. Six of the nine killed came from the same firehouse, In total that fire house had seven members, six of which were killed in the fire. The lone member was the guy who drove the truck. That would be such a horrific state to be in. Loss of an entire family really.

Updates / Administrative Changes
« on: June 20, 2007, 04:58:38 am »
As most of you are aware, Helios stepped down as the main manager of the ZFGC forums a few days ago. During this time I've been spending some time reflecting on how the forums could be improved. I've spent time talking with people from all areas of the forum to conclude what needs to be done to improve the sustainability of ZFGC over the next few years. ZFGC has had a nice long life, it should continue to have a nice long life, there is no reason for it not to.

One thing we have been promising for months is a website, a place that would effectively improve the cause of ZFGC.

I've concluded that one of the biggest reasons ZFGC has started to slow down is not the lack of love for Zelda, but the fact the majority of us joined when we were below the ages of 15, now the majority of the people who once created games are moving into college and work place settings, effectively slowing down the cause of the website. With this in mind we need to start promoting ZFGC, and the entire concept of fan game development, along with game development.

I concluded the best pick for replacing the person in charge of the forum would be someone who is currently a moderator, and an active moderator. 4Sword will be replacing Helios within that administrative position. He'll work along side Windy (Development) and Possum (events) to continue to improve ZFGC. I have a goal of becoming more active as time goes on, and attempting to better promote ZFGC as a whole.

Windy is currently working on a basic layout of sorts to at least kick off our website. I'm not promising anything fancy like discussed, because quite frankly its not needed and kind of pointless, at this stage at least.

If you have questions feel free to contact me via the PM system or via IRC (Vash). I'll be happy to answer any questions you have.

I want to note over the next few weeks we're going to make an effort to bring more order to the forums. This doesn't mean banning people on a massive scale, this just means making an effort at pointing ZFGC in the right direction, not a new one, but the direction it was going before Project-X.

Thanks,

Andrew

Updates / Times Be Changin'
« on: May 04, 2007, 06:21:00 am »
Nothing is really changing much, at least at the moment. I just like scaring the !@#$% out of you guys.

There will be changes coming soon, I think the majority of you know why too. I think ZFGC has crossed the line as of late, with the amount of repulsive behavior that has been going on. It needs cleaned up, we're not 4chan, or a trolling group, it needs to stop. There has been far too much harassment, and being flat out rude and mean to people over the last few months. We'll work together to move past it and get back on track. ZFGC is not just a 'personal' community of friends, its also a game development forum, specifically Zelda Fan Games.

None the less, the changes that come today are:

- Fixing the Staff titles
- New Moderator

Just in case you guys don't know already, here is ZFGC's current list of staff members:

Administration:
Andrew - The "Main Man".  (Job Description: Everything)
Helios - The "First Lady". (Job Description: Everything)
WWFan - Technical Guru. (Job Description: Technical/Development)
Possum - Events Coordinator (Events,z3
cpprograms  - Chat Coordinator (#zfgc is independently run from ZFGC.com)
ArcticFerret - (Does something, in relation to things, that make her have some form of administrative access for some purpose, which is currently unknown, but shes still listed. -- Tara does not moderate, don't ask her for help.)

Moderation Staff:
4Sword
CrystalAngel04
Dantheman
Fox
Limey
MG-Zero
TomPel
AoDc

ZFGC Staff:
Uhh.. They're most likely Events/Chat/Development staff members. Don't bug them for moderation purposes. :)

Lastly, I'd like to welcome our newest moderator, Limey. He has returned from the depts.. of.. Limeyiness...

If you have any questions please let me know, any other staffers are welcome to elaborate on anything.

Debates / Viacom Suing Google.. for 1 billion dollars (USD)
« on: March 18, 2007, 01:36:40 am »
Alright, we all heard this a few days ago, and if you didn't hear this a few days ago, then you must be kind of slow... :p

When I first heard Viacom was suing Google I was shocked, because, well that doesn't seem very CBS style.. Then on google news today i read "CBS and YouTube Strike a deal for March Madness!" Which made me think 'wait, what the !@#$%?'.

Did anyone even hear that Viacom and CBS "split" in 2005? The Viacom that was known for owning CBS/Nick/MTV changed its name to CBS Corperation, and then a new Viacom was formed taking MTV/Nick/CC with it.. I'm a pretty big business nerd, but I don't remember hearing about this little sneaky move.

Anyway, what do you guys think?

I think Google Stands a chance against them, mainly because Google cannot control who posts what content on their website until after the content is posted and reported. We all know there are millions of video's on YouTube and Google video both, Google cannot be expected to check all of these video's before they're posted online to public viewing. There will most likely be a settlement at the end of all of this.

There was also that federal court ruling a few weeks ago saying websites cannot be held liable for content posted by their users.

Updates / Forum Updates
« on: March 17, 2007, 10:16:51 pm »
Alright, I've delayed this long enough. I've been busy and lazy lately, so I haven't gotten around to my formal 'changes' announcement as I said I would. I'm only a week off, not too bad.. right?

Anyway, there have been several board changes, and more changes will soon be coming to the projects boards as well. There are also a few boards, currently unannounced, that will be added to the forum. A post will be made regarding those changes when they are made.

As you can see we have a new theme, the reason the old themes are gone is due to the incompatibility they have with SMF 1.1. Thats the way things work sometimes, we were also in dire need of a change anyway, this freshens up the site a little, and gives us a new out look on things.

There are new rules, which can be found in, http://www.zfgc.com/index.php?topic=14902, I encourage you to read them and understand them. You are now required to agree to these rules/policies on registration. You also must be 13 years of age to register with ZFGC's site/forums. This allows us to be 'legal' in terms of the COPPA agreement, a Child Protection Act passed in 1998, in the United States. Though this act is 'unfair' to our international users, we are based within the United States, thus we need to comply to this act.

If you have any questions, ideas or thoughts feel free to drop me, or anyone else a PM on the matter, or make your thoughts be known in forum feed back.

Updates / Recent Changes
« on: March 11, 2007, 09:54:29 am »
Well, that was a rough few days. Our intention was for a smooth transaction, a flawless move with no bumps at all. However, thats not what happened due to slow connection speeds, Godaddy (or me) being half-assed with domain changes (I'm still honestly not sure, though I did get a confirmation letter from them). Either way we're there now and getting back on track.

There were some confusion issues about where things were supposed to go, and what the names of certain boards were supposed to be. I had to go deal with some issues earlier today (such as catching a shoe sale -- 24 dollars for 65 dollar boots, totally worth it?). Either way we're very sorry for.. the inconvenience it may have caused your addictive posting habits.

Major Changes:
Warning System
Theme
Boards
Project/Development Categories

Forthcoming Changes:
Rule Set
Privacy Policy/AUP
Registration Agreement
COPPA
Fixing small 'issues'.

Bleh, thats a basic outline of what I have planned for tomorrow, and what I will also be discussing tomorrow. Remember this is an 'open beta' of sorts, the forum is stable, but we want ideas and input on changes that can be made along the way. At the moment I'm fairly tired so I'm keeping this short. If you have any thing you want to suggest, or ask please post it in the feed back area, or send me (or the relevant person) a personal message.

Good Night ZFGC, and see you Sunday Morning.

Recruitment / Forum Skinning: vBulletin
« on: February 10, 2007, 06:59:14 am »
I need someone who has some experience with vBulletin skinning, if you're interested, or can 'assist' in anyway, let me know.

And no, ZFGC is not switching to vBulletin. :p

Feedback / Community Input
« on: January 16, 2007, 12:23:00 am »
You guys are the community, the community is the backbone behind any large website. Communities are what drive websites to places, whether it be into the ground, or into the sky. One thing I think we seriously lack is communication between the administrative figures and the community itself. I know every once in a while someone will voice their opinion here in the feedback forum, the idea will get tossed around and then everyone just kind of shrugs it off after a few days. I want to change that, I want users to be more open about problems they see with ZFGC and suggestions to fix it. I also want you guys to be able to do it without being harassed by your peers for silly ideas or disagreement.

Now, community discussion on some topics is a good thing, but I would rather me introduce the idea, not because I want credit for it, but because I can stand in a moderate position while its being discussed. This will also give us more control over the discussions of different ideas.

The feedback area should still be used as a place to report bugs, typos and other things that are incorrect in the forum, or other problems such as "I can't view ZFGC on the Wii!" things like this. The goal of this process is for you to directly talk to me on different situations. I want to be more directly involved with processes so I understand why they're happening.

You're welcome to send me a PM with the subject title [Suggestion] or email me at feedback @ zfgc . com (psst no spaces). Help me (and the staff) improve ZFGC with a community effort, rather than a one sided effort.

Remember, you can suggest anything from site, forum or chat ideas. Or anything else you'd like to see.

Updates / Minor Changes
« on: January 15, 2007, 09:56:02 pm »
Alright, we had a staff meeting a bit ago, it lasted around two and a half hours, much longer than intended. The result of it, honestly was not much of anything too exciting.

We did make some minor changes here and there, and minor changes will happen off and on from now on, with or with out notice.

Changes:

1) We abolished the recruiting/advert board. There was too much spam and not enough of what the original goal of the topic was. I selected the first two pages of recruiting stuff and placed them in a new board dedicated for staff recruitment. The advert board gone, and will not return. It has been replaced with a sticky topic in Off-Topic, which will create a huge list of websites for ZFGC users to browse if they want to look for a website for something specific under a specific category. This will allow us to monitor what is selected, avoid spam and not needed discussion, and continue userflow between sites who seek users to join their site.

2) There will be name changes to boards, pretty insignificant.

3) No major board changes will be made from here on out, until site development progresses.

4) Introduction of User Input concept. Users will now be able to email me ideas/suggestions privately for the forum, so we know where users stand on different topics. This will allow more freedom of discussion and privacy so users are no longer flamed over their ideas and such. I may ask questions with intentions of receiving several responses back. It will be more efficient than generally discussing an idea in Forum Feedback.  -- http://www.zfgc.com/forum/index.php?topic=12836 --

I got interrupted halfway through making this topic.. I'll give notification as to if I update it with anything else.
