Recruitment / What this board is for.
« on: January 15, 2007, 09:23:41 pm »
So you ask, 'what is the point of this board?'. The point is to give members of the forum a place to recruit members for their various projects, whatever the project may be.

What you can recruit for:

  - Web Development
  - Game Development
  - Sound/Music Composers
  - Graphics Designers
  - Spriters
  - Project Management
  - General Website Staff *

What this board is not for:
  - Advertisements of any sort.

* You may post topics about your website, if your main goal/intention is to recruit people to help you with your website. If you're looking for people who want to review games, then be specific in how you say it will be done. You can do things with out advertising your website. The goal of this board is to recruit, not advertise.

If you have questions please send a message of a moderator or an administrator, they will sort it out for you.

If your goal is to advertise something, please use this topic: http://www.zfgc.com/forum/index.php?topic=12822

Updates / Holidays, Changes, and more!
« on: December 25, 2006, 06:54:12 am »
Well, its been a while since I have addressed everyone, so maybe now would be a good time to do it?

First off I'd like to wish everyone a good Holiday season. Enjoy yourselves and embrace the up coming new year.

Secondly, though I personally dislike announcing things like this. Kirby has departed the team. I'm only making note of this because If there are any issues that need to be handled quickly. I request you send them to myself and/or another administrative member (or moderator). There's no reason to pester Kirby or bug him, so please don't. :P

I'd also like to say that we do have things in the works, and we're starting basic development on several ideas we'd like to incorporate within ZFGC. With that said you can expect changes in 2007 that will better the way ZFGC operates, looks, and feels. We have dedicated staff now working on development to improve the way ZFGC operates, along with adding new features to the site. New themes will be coming, and a more organized system for events will also be introduced. Expect changes to the way the projects/development boards work. Also expect changes to the system of moderation. We're slowly improving on that, but doing a lot better than we were doing a few months ago. I think this will be a great year for ZFGC, and for everyone on ZFGC. I encourage everyone of you to do something awesome and creative this year. Make a game! Help make a game! Learn to sprite! Something you can enjoy while you spend your time here.

On that note, happy holidays, and if you have any questions/ideas/comments please drop me a message. I'll get back to them as soon as I can.

Debates / Impeach Bush and Cheney?
« on: November 27, 2006, 05:07:06 am »
Impeach Bush and Cheney?

Before you judge anything, read this link in full, whether you're a liberal or a conservative, sit down and read the entire article, other wise you're making a fool of yourself. http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2006/11/24/17048/677

After reading that, what do you think should the President and the Vice President of the United States be impeached for these fourteen offenses? Keep in mind, in comparison to the Clinton administration (Possibility of Adultery, among lying while under oath about his adultery) is what the Bush administration done more harmful to national security, and preserving the rights of this nation as a free, and somewhat democratic one.

As we stand now, personally, I feel we've lost too much freedom to petty things, that are in no way helping our security at all. A lot of what is mentioned in this article, make me wonder why he has yet to be pushed out of office, and why Clinton was impeached for something petty in comparison. During times of war several past American Presidents have limited our 'freedom', for the 'better' of the country, but is that a good thing? My all time favorite quote, from my favorite historical figure, Ben Franklin: "He who would trade liberty for some temporary security, deserves neither liberty nor security". Ponder over that.

So in the end, I ask you Impeachment or not?

Feedback / SMF Mods/Packages
« on: October 30, 2006, 09:51:14 pm »
This topic serves three purposes, first one being to show the users of ZFGC what Mod Packages they can utilize on the forum, and how that specific mod package works, the second being allows users to request mods that they feel may benefit ZFGC if installed on the forum, and lastly the third Mod proposals, something you think would be a good idea if ZFGC had.

Mod Packages Installed:

1.  GeSHiSmf

GeSHiSmf
On most of the themes (eventually, all of them), when posting, replying, and editing a topic (regular edit, mind you), there is now a new drop box that says GeSHi. This system will allow you to use color-coded code tags. You can select from a number of languages, and MiNalien is currently in the progress of adding a couple new languages to that list.

Example:
Code: C++
  1. #include <iostream>
  2.
  3. using namespace std;
  4.
  5. void ShowMM( void );
  6. int main( int argc, char* argv[] );
  7.
  8. int main( int argc, char* argv[] )
  9. {
  10.     ShowMM();
  11.
  12.     return( 0 );
  13. }
  14.
  15. void ShowMM( void )
  16. {
  17.     cout << "test\n";
  18. }
  19.

Rules for this thread:
1) Suggestions for mods or ideas for mods only, general discussion will be deleted. If a mod needs discussed make a separate post about it within the feedback section itself, not this section.
2) Follow my rule or be destroyed. =)

Other Discussion / Firefox 2.0 RC2 [Update: RC3]
« on: October 09, 2006, 09:22:41 am »
w00t, Its finally here and funking awesome. If you have not tried Firefox 2.0 yet give it a spin. Spell check! SPELL CHECK! Its awesome for typing stuff up in web based areas. (such as forums). It works a lot like word does, underlines the word, and you can right click on it to correct the word or add it to the dictionary. Its pretty spiffy. There is some other awesomely neat features, but its almost here, hopefully in a few more weeks it will go live. Its around 5.6 mb's download wise, people were complaining because it was nearly 1mb bigger when the first beta release came out. RC2 is still buggy, and it will override your 1.5 install, so be careful. I have yet to find any massive bugs in it yet, but I'm sure there is a memory leak or something waiting for me.
