Alright, we all heard this a few days ago, and if you didn't hear this a few days ago, then you must be kind of slow... :p
When I first heard Viacom was suing Google I was shocked, because, well that doesn't seem very CBS style.. Then on google news today i read "CBS and YouTube Strike a deal for March Madness!" Which made me think 'wait, what the !@#$%?'.
Did anyone even hear that Viacom and CBS "split" in 2005? The Viacom that was known for owning CBS/Nick/MTV changed its name to CBS Corperation, and then a new Viacom was formed taking MTV/Nick/CC with it.. I'm a pretty big business nerd, but I don't remember hearing about this little sneaky move.
Anyway, what do you guys think?
I think Google Stands a chance against them, mainly because Google cannot control who posts what content on their website until after the content is posted and reported. We all know there are millions of video's on YouTube and Google video both, Google cannot be expected to check all of these video's before they're posted online to public viewing. There will most likely be a settlement at the end of all of this.
There was also that federal court ruling a few weeks ago saying websites cannot be held liable for content posted by their users.
