People's Remix Competition
What is it?
The People's Remix Competition (PRC) is a video game remixing contest in which people of all skill levels are encouraged to enter. Each round lasts two weeks (one for mixing and one for voting/break), and all participants must remix a specific song, which is to be chosen by the previous winner.
Schedule plz
Generally the source is announced at the end of the week. Entrants have one week to remix the song and upload to the round's page at Compo:ThaSauce (without getting critique on it). Then, everyone votes for a few days. The winner will have a few days to choose the next source, although it is recommended that you have one in mind beforehand. The two-week cycle then repeats itself.
One week? Are you kidding me?
Trust me, it's not quite as difficult as it may sound. The quality expectations are not terribly high, but good quality will be in your favor. At PRC, we tend to value the entertainment of the music a little more than the sound quality. There is no limit for song length as long as it's not too short or too long. Most entries are between one minute and five minutes.
Why should I enter?
1. If you win, you get to choose the next round's source tune (as long as it is not already featured on OverClocked ReMix).
2. It's a fun way to grow as a musicky person.
3. We require entries.
4. We require entries.
5. I know there are people here who could do well in this competition. Don't be spazzed out at the fact that it was created at OverClocked ReMix; posted mixers rarely enter. We're all learning.
CAN I VOTEZ0RZ FOR MYSELF OLOLOLOL
No.
How exactly does voting work, then?
You choose the top three entries and explain your reasoning.
1st place vote = 3 points
2nd place vote = 2 points
3rd place vote = 1 vote
Also, if you are a contestant, voting will automatically add three points to your score, so it's almost like you're voting for yourself and another person for first place. This was done to motivate more people to vote.
Current Round
Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones (voting)
I made the topic now because I figured you'd want a heads-up for the next round just in case anyone here is interested. If not, oh well. I tried.
