Entertainment / Possible graphical problem? (gamecube)
« on: December 09, 2006, 02:25:28 pm »
I sometimes notice that during nighttime, when you're sailing around, I get transparent ghostly white bars going top to bottom, varying in brightness. It isn't visible during the daytime (in game). I might've messed up my TV, because my friend loaned me a S-video cable (later on I found out it was 3rd party), and the quality was horrible. Visible dots anywhere, and yeah, I regretted plugging it in. It seemed like my TV was stressing out on it or something, because I believe the white bars started appearing after I unplugged the 3rd party cable. I don't really see it in other games, but hear my next explanation.

I still use composite, (buying a S-vid cable off Nintendo soon) and when playing games that supposively doesn't have progressive scan (Tales of Symphonia), on the left side of the screen, near the bottom, the picture doesn't quite fill it in completely. Here's what I mean:

The size of it is minimal, about one hearts in WW length. It doesn't occur in Windwaker, but in other games, such as Star Fox, F-Zero, SSBM, etc. It does the same thing with my other TV, our movie TV. Anyone having the same "problem" I'm having?

Entertainment / Buying another PlayStation 2
« on: November 17, 2006, 03:00:35 am »
I bought a PS2 and sold it to my friend for a Gamecube. The only games I have for PS2 are FF10, KH, FFX-2, GT3, and that's it x_X; I still have those games. Right now, I'm actually interested in going back to the PS2 because 1) I made my dad sad, and felt guilty after I've thought about what I've done 2) maybe I didn't look enough into the games, because I've always thought that PS2 wasn't worth my money. Now I feel the same with the Gamecube, except that I bought a lot more games than PS2.

Many good games I have noticed now, including FF12, KH2, RE4, GT4 (even though I never touched GT3 after the first week).

What should I do? The PS2 emulator is actually going quite well, and with its next release I can play FFX without freezes. Of course, the speed won't be perfect, as I get 18fps to 51 fps. Do you think I should buy another PS2, wait for the emulator, or wait for the PS3 (lol)?

In the meantime, list the games I've missed out on. ;)

Discussion / Phoenix Wright
« on: November 07, 2006, 03:37:44 am »
I was thinking about remaking Phoenix Wright. I want to do this because I think that there are many people out there who does not have Phoenix Wright, as it is very rare/expensive to find nowadays. Because of that I want to help the helpless out there to enjoy PW wherever they might be. I am thinking of remaking this using GM/Java. C++ I have not learned much yet. There really isn't a lot to program in PW, but with the huge dialog, that will take time.

The only problem is, I don't know if it is worth remaking Phoenix Wright. I also thought about a Zelda themed court-style game, but thought that it won't work out too well. Remaking PW might be worth it, as I could add a case editor where you can create your own cases and share it with people everywhere.

I will mainly rip graphics/animations from the GBA version of Gyakuten Saiban/Gyakuten Saiban 2. The music I already have, but I don't have PW2's soundtrack... yet. Sound effects, don't know. Maybe with accurate precision I can record it using VBA. The extra cases in the DS version of PW might pose a problem....

So, how do you guys think?

Other Discussion / Windows Update problem - MSFT .Net Framework 2.0
« on: October 15, 2006, 04:39:03 pm »
It keeps failing to install when I try to, and pops up asking me to install it. Good thing is it doesn't annoy me with any random popups. If you have .Net Framework, are you experiencing this as well?

Other Discussion / Placement of 5.1 speakers
« on: September 03, 2006, 03:01:38 am »
I might buy new speakers, Logitech x530 to be exact. I just don't know where to actually put it.

Here's a top view of my desk:

If you need a real photo of my computer desk, please ask.

Anyways, I wanted to put the rear speakers to the spot up there. I'm worried about it not having the "full" surround sound though. I could place it somewhere on the back of my chair (it's the type that revolves), but I'll need stands to place them. Where should I place the rear speakers?

Center speaker goes underneath my monitor by the way. The rear speakers touches the edge of the desk, even though the code box kind of distorts the spacing.

Other Discussion / A request for original DS owners
« on: May 23, 2006, 11:06:51 am »
I recently bought an NDS and a flash cart (>_<), and as a result, I don't have money to buy a DS game. I could make my dad buy one, but the chances are slim. I wanted to ask you guys if you have the "Metroid Prime Demo," and are willing to donate it to me, since Metroid Prime Hunters already came out. I need it because without a DS game I cannot get the flashy to... erm, "run."

Please PM me. If you have further questions, please feel free to ask.
