(researchers from cambridge university found that the order of the letters in the middle doesn't matter as long as the first and last letters are kept where they are. you should still be able to read this.)

That was really dissappointing. All that was in the demo was walking around and 2 items.

Where are the enemies? Where are the room transitions? Where is the inventory?

Who's to say those screenshots aren't mockups? You really need to add all the features you boast about having into your demos, as the demo you DID post had nothing special about it. It didn't even have a chat system.

Add some more content t your games before you release them, and don't tell people about features you claim to exist but only have a screenshot of.

look, you seem to be pissing of quite a few people (including me) who are supporting this game and others who are interested in it. I'd like to see you make a walking engine that well, I've been using GM for nearly 4 years now and even my game, Cloud of Darkness hasn't got a movement engine that good. where's your game? I'd like to see your engine before you heck other people out about their games.  :P and most people don't want criticism, just people to politely point out any faults or bugs so they can correct them.
Also, if you have read other posts, people want to rip out his hard work of new added features to use in their own games, (you wouldn't want that now, would you?) so of course he wouldn't put them in a demo.
so i advise you not to go throwing criticism at games that claim things but don't have them in demos. >:(

You have somehow managed to do something I have always had trouble with in my games:
There are separate objects for Link walking, walking carrying something, walking with the shield, walking with the bow poised - probably more that I can't recall off the top of my head
in there you say you use separate objects for all his actions. but i also know that, making my own games with game maker, that you have managed to make the room follow all those around. but i need to know how to do this! i have been making 1 single object which is link to follow and separate ones only for the swords and stationary objects. how do you do it? do you make the main one the pearent and then all the others have that the pearent and have the room follow the pearent?  ??? i dunno, but it is annoying the hell out of me and forcing me to make scripts 200 lines long (so i just made up that number, but you get the idea). I am making cloud of darkness and seeing your game, i think i need to almost rebuild my whole system of movement and actions so far (at least it's not even a quarter of what is planned).

Oh, are you using game maker?... you might not know what the hell i'm talking about if u don't and use some other game making program like the games factory.

By the way, really wicked game so far  8) can't wait for you to finish it.

P.S. one last thing, if you don't mind, could you PM me and give me links to the sites you got the ripped MC sprites from? not your custom ones, i just need a few more things to put in my game, like the bomb placed with smoke and the explosion of the bomb, and i am missing the lava tileset from my collection too. or please make a zip with all your MC sprites in (apart from your custom ones) and send it to me?
Only if you don't mind giving them to me!  ;)

I'll check up on it but it was working fine before.

yeah i agree it's a lot better but there are no diagonal sprites like in lttp. I'll keep working on it though.

I agree you need to stick to 1 game's sprites and tiles, instead of mixing them. It's good to add new items and enemies in the games but keep to the same style.

I finished diagonals, and the screen moves with the hurricane spin now too. ;D also you don't need to release a button before pressing another to move.

One peaceful day in Hyrule, A surge of natural disasters goes through and blocks off the town from all of the outside land, while rips in reality have been created in remote parts of Hyrule. These rips are dangerous as anyone coming too close is sucked right in and vapourised, and these become places in need of sealing. A boy named Link living on his farm, is just close enough not to be blocked off by all the disasters. Little does he know that a fairy, named Star, is about to become his guide in a dangerous adventure to save hyrule. After aquiring weapons from a local dojo, Star leads him to the Shrine of Elements, where he finds the rod of elements, and as he finds all the Elemental Gems, gives him control over the elements, allowing him to seal these rips. But his challenge is much harder, as he finds these rips are not just holes...

The new name for Cloud of Darkness is now Rod of Elements, the old name not having any storyline. The game will have you slashing and puzzle-solving your way through 11 dungeons, the first four all have the Element Gems sealed inside them. Hyrule is the main land, and will have you returning now and then to reopen old areas to find new ones. There is more than one land (not telling how many) but using the rod of elements, changing something in one land, such as melting an iceberg or cooling some lava will have an effect on another - good or bad. luckily, you can counteract these so you can return to other areas. There are more special dungeon items, later after the first four dungeons, the next three dungeons are the most secret part of the game, you will hear almost nothing of this chapter.

EDIT 01/02/07
A few new functions added, mainly graphics, 1 weather effect, rain, using particles. the rain DOES hit the ground and DOES make splashes like in The Shadowgazer, but instead of a hundered objects slowing down the speed it's particles, though not as much difference. A light engine & clock engine also added, both working together with the lamp to create day/night transition and light rings around link and lamps at night, THE LIGHT ENGINE IS FINISHED. the clock however, needs a MC style back to it and MC style font. a ocarina engine has been started, although needs finishing, and instead of finishing it, i've been lazy and have been playing age of mythology instead. That's all for now (or is it? :P)

EDIT 24/01/07:
I have recently changed the FPS from 25 to 50, giving that there were some problems with shadow and grass overlays not being underneath link while rolling. this has been fixed.

I do need a logo for the game, and an icon, so if you want, check out this topic and it as what i want listed there.

why not? people are putting a lot of crap in the topic now anyway. Another thing, do you have resouces for it? I have heaps i could give you if you needed them (MC style and LTTP style).

if you get gm6 you can use the one here.


I already have one in the game i'm making but the problem is it is deeply embedded in in my game already, and getting it out would prove difficult as it uses a lot of variables from other objects.
