Entertainment / Re: Majora's Mask 3DS

I really hope they uh...

Well... I mean Majora's Mask was a very rushed title. IIRC the saving system was only the way it was because they had issues testing the regular save/quit system from other Zelda titles, so they introduced the owl statues. I really sincerely hope they got rid of that BS and gave the game the proper flesh-out time that the original lacked. Aonuma is apparently boasting that the game has content that will bring new people in, so I mean... It's worth a go for me. I still may not enjoy it as much as I would other Zelda titles, but Zelda is Zelda.

For what reason who knows, but apparently this has been in development since right after OOT3D was released, so about 3 years, which is a lot longer, or twice as long actually, than the original, which only took 18 months apparently. Will be interesting to see how it's turned out.

That was actually really well put.

I too never got all the way through it before (only played it on the gamecube though) so it'll be a good chance to... give it another chance lol, especially if it'll be as well made, or even better as/than OOT3D was.

Honestly one of my biggest problems atm is that I'm just terrible at making time to play games, and end up just buying them and never properly playing them D:
Even though they and this I'm sure will be plenty of fun.

That does sound rather interesting in the sense of just taking things way, way past the norm lol

ill be honest. i did not care for it. the last so many episodes i liked and were interesting, but the rest just didn't do it for me. now, don't get me wrong, im not saying its bad. it is good. guess ive really never been a giant robot fan. (excluding gundam :P)

I've never been a giant robot fan, which is something that put me off from getting into any gundam, but I loved seed, just for its story and the content all inside that world, not any giant robots. Same goes for macross frontier. How's gurren lagann on those terms? I've been interested in it since ages ago, but the only reason I'd watch it is if it had an awesome story full of emotion, much over just because it involves some certain object.

I must admit, gamemaker's recent progress/changes really do intrigue me. Good luck with the rest of the switch over :D

so, went to a convention this past weekend. over 80% of the people i streetpassed play new leaf. i just might have to get it sooner than planned haha.
That's what it was like here in Japan. Almost EVERYONE that took their 3DS outside at least had AC as their last played game. Pretty interesting to see that same phenomenon in the west though :o

The whole cute vs cool thing is just how the localization team decided to handle it... Taking the scene into context and looking at the original statement (I don't have the original transcript in front of me anymore sorry if I feel more assed too I'll pull it out later lol) the comment is made in a slightly sarcastic kind of "ribbing" way. From what I've been told the character's sexuality is never brought up again past that point and the way the subbers handled it made it seem awkward and out of place. Cool is one way to interpret it and get the same meaning even though the original line definitely 100% did say cute (Used the word かわいい :P)

Yeah, with a dictionary, kawaii = cute and that's the end of that, but culture and the way people think/act etc differs on all sorts of sub-conscious levels and with that, the way "cute" is used in the west and the way "kawaii" is used in Japan can differ quiiite a lot. So, I understand why such companies decide to go ahead and change things, just to accommodate to the general american audience. I just don't think it's all that great how that audience, from all sorts of things like this and what not, stop being able to be more open to other realities other than the only one they know of, and then (and because of) things like this just reinforce that that reality is the only one available in life, which of course is far from true.

Just discovered that this: http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=8691 is in the same setting apparently too? Interesting.

FrozenFire: Thanks, that was a pretty good description of why one would like it!
Thank you too Dervilacus :p

Good old America. The only way is the American one, no other culture can exist
>_>

Obviously that's bollocks lol, but such dubs really do bring out such feelings (and it's almost the complete opposite in places like Japan, where a lot of people cannot get enough of taking a good look at what the west etc offers, although I guess that just makes things worse if that re-enforces the idea of "everyone looks up to us and therefore just needs to cater to us while we all sit back and stubbornly up-hold our random standards, with us not letting anyone in our country be influenced by anything that isn't high on western/american steroids.)

Anyway lol
I only saw the first ep a while back when it first aired but that's it, so only generally know of it and its setting.

And seeing it being called AMAZING (along with its generally pretty great rating), I have to ask, why?

According to Luke it sounds like a real Japanese sentence

Only because gm112 said it lol. Of course it's "real", considering it's a title of something, but, it's just a phrase, one that I thought I'd never hear gm112 say, which really surprised me, until I caught on that he was just pasting the title of something haha

I feel like the controls shouldn't be too stiff, and the movement engine should be setup in such a way that it works with the game system.  For example...I feel the first Legend of Zelda's controls are way too stiff.  Link walks like he's on a grid (because he is), and that kind of movement just isn't suited for that type of combat system.

Well, I'm sure it'd be hell trying to get into a simple door if you had to get between the door frame with pixel precision. No idea if it would have been feasible to add pixel precision like checking and slide link into the right position when you hit a door frame like they do with ALTTP, but yeah, there are reasons for these things, reasons that exist so to make it seem like absolutely nothing is being done at all, which as we all know, is when it's all being done very well.

This is insane.

I can see why gamers all over the world are rejoicing, for now...
But all this shows to me is that Microsoft have no idea what they're doing... They're supposed to be guiding us into a future that we cannot even know we want, just because it's the future, but instead, it's us pulling them back from the future they tried to create and they caved. Well that was a well thought out future then...
Gives me absolutely zero trust that they're capable of bringing the future to games if all they end up doing is playing catch up.

Pretty interesting to hear about these and how they are

Aaaaan just managed to fully beat it :D
Was pretty interesting, luckily it somehow did something rather ironic at the very last part, making playing the waiting game a whole lot easier.
This was a pretty interesting game.

I meant for needing a language patch, but I guess if you like the characters and want to get to know them better, than that answers my question :p

Is this what puyopuyo becomes in the west?
Yeah, unfortunately the west only got two sprite-hacks of Puyo Puyo 1 (Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine and Kirby's Avalanche) in addition to the GBA Puyo game Minna De Puyo Puyo (Puyo Pop) and all versions of Puyo Pop Fever.  Otherwise, we never got any other games.  Makes me sort of sad, but at least most of the older games have translation patches.  Still awaiting an English patch for 20th Anniversary on the DS.

Aaaah. I remember playing Dr Robotnik's mean bean machine, only to realise a decade or so later what it really was lol
Although they seem like games that you could enjoy pretty well in any language though?
