Discussion / Can some one please break down SIN COS and TAN?
« on: March 11, 2010, 05:29:03 am »
I've never been the greatest at math. There's a lot of stuff that blows my mind. In particular is the practical application of Sine, Cosine, and Tangent. I'm in now way versed enough in it to make, for example, an object that will move in a circular motion, or even pretend to try to understand how or why it works.

If someone could please break it down, it'd be greatly appreciated :(

Entertainment / Mega Man 10
« on: March 06, 2010, 06:49:06 am »
Anyone play it/in-the-process-of-playing-it/beat it yet?

Well, I have/am/havenot right now. So far, the game's pretty sweet. Not nearly as amazing as 9 though so far. I've only played 3 stages though so yeah <_<

The music is definitely a step down, with the exception of a couple of AMAZING songs- The boss selected theme and the boss defeated theme. They've modified the classic jingles to be pretty kickass.

Anyway, fun game. blah blah.

Lemme know how far you guys are. I've only beaten 1 robot master so far as Megaman in the 30 minutes I played it, which blind playing I suppose is pretty good. Dunno ,_,.

This is the best commercial ever made.

Entertainment / Blaster Master Overdrive - The Pros and Cons
« on: February 15, 2010, 02:51:35 pm »
So anyway, I decide last week that "Hey! They came out with a new Blaster Master game for Wii! I'm going to drop $220 for a new Wii and BMO because this is exactly what I've been waiting for!" and here I am.

So far, I'm loving the game. At first, things were a tad rocky due to some core mechanic changes, but ya know, who cares. I've decided instead of bitching about it and then praising the rest of it, I'll just make a list of pros and cons!

I'll start with the cons!

 • Game's a tad clunky. Cycling weapons and getting into SOPHIA take too long, and you also feel too restricted by gravity. It lessens the "classic feel".
 • No true pausing! You can stop the game, not the timer. You can't pause at all when you're inside structures as Alex. This means for a speed run, you can take NO breaks start to finish.
 • Controls seem somewhat unresponsive at times. It's so hard to aim diagonally in any situation, and strafing is a tad uncomfortable, as you have to hold the B button while holding the wiimote like an NES controller.
 • Health/Energy upgrade system eliminates the general need for skill that makes speedrunning efficient. You aren't able to start the game as ready to play as you were when you first beat it.
 • The "reimagining" of the story has left me a bit disappointed. I don't like the idea of a pilot of Sophia wearing a lucha mask. I can understand why it needed to be done, but it really just left a lot of disappointment when reaching the bosses of some areas. (Area 4 :\)
 • And finally, an aesthetic gripe- Gates to the next areas are gone. You'll find yourself constantly slipping into areas you don't want to be in on accident throughout the game. It's more Metroid/Castlevania style than classic Blaster Master style.

 • The game's difficult. Requires a LOT of skill to master.
 • The music is amazing!
 • They built it with speed runners in mind, regardless of the flaws for it mentioned in the cons. Official competitions await.
 • Large areas to explore. It really does feel like the first time playing the original BM on NES.
 • Bosses have recognizable patterns that are incredibly difficult, so beating any one of them is a bragging right. Very much like BM on NES.
 • Lots of unique enemies!

Ultimately the game's pretty sweet. The cons list is big but they're not game breakers at all. I'd suggest picking it up since it's only $10.

It's not for !@#$% ass casual gamers though. You need some skill outside of wagglin' your wiimote.

Yup, this is pretty much me right now D:

Updates / Character Competition has a WINNER!

Congratulations Hank on getting your ass kicked by Gnome!

We had a rough, brutal battle this year, and through it all, our tiniest patron came out victorious!

Gnome of Profanity Far Underground- Your name and occupation shall echo through the caves of ZFGC's history! When people think 2010, they'll hear a faint voice calling "fuckaroni!"

To all of this competitions short-comers, better luck next year!

Entertainment / So... What the !@#$% with the Lokomo's in ST?
« on: January 15, 2010, 08:59:06 am »
These things are pissing me off. Not because they're *difficult*, but because if I play it PERFECT, it doesn't work. If I play it choppy (for some reason, my brand new DSi's microphone comes in choppy when I blow into it for the lokomos?) it works. It's !@#$% irritating as !@#$%.

For whatever reason, when I blow into the mic, it sounds like a machine gun when I play the spirit pipes instead of holding the note. It takes a lot of practice to get it to hold a note. Here's the clincher tho- if I actually get it to play the notes without machine gunning it, it FAILS the song, but if it machine guns the notes continuously and sounds like !@#$%, I pass.

What the !@#$% is that !@#$%? I'm not sure if I understand this crap >_<

Entertainment / Decades WORST Advertising Campaign
« on: January 14, 2010, 05:49:44 am »
Yeah someone had to do this.

This decade's had some HORRIBLE ad campaigns. My least favorite is "I'm Lovin' It" with McDonalds.

I'm curious as to which campaigns you hated! Is it the Cavemen from Geiko?! Is it the gecko!?!?!?! Maybe you just hate those stupid Truth commercials!

So yeah. What's your least favorite.

Also one of my favorites is the Ugoff commercials. Dis them and die! >=^D

ZFGC Character Competition 2010 / Hell Competition
« on: January 09, 2010, 08:11:42 pm »
Well; initially I had intended on doing the main comp, than a secondary competition for the previous match losers, potentially giving fair recognition of losing characters. The turnout hasn't been so great this year, so I was thinking about skipping it altogether. If there's enough demand for it though, we can go through with it if you guys would like. Lemme know what you think.

Given that the comp is only going for 3 weeks, I wont be starting it until after this main comp is over instead of running them simultaneously.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4B_RHZEHx8

For the sake of curiosity, has anyone played it? is it any good at all?? The song played in the commercial makes me want to stab my eardrums with feces soaked Q-tips...

Entertainment / Finally got around to playing Phantom Hourglass
« on: January 02, 2010, 03:12:26 pm »
It's a pretty fun game, but damn the touchscreen controls are annoying as shitfuck.

I'm past the
Show content
Ghost Ship after saving Tetra
, so I'm not too terribly far into the game. I have learned one thing though; The
Show content
Ocean King
must carry pictures with him everywhere he goes to tell his story <_<;;

Anyway; picked this game up for about $20 at Gamestop and got a free game with it. Preparing for when Walmart has ST back in stock :P
