King of Thieves / Re: NCFC Demo!
« on: January 08, 2016, 06:40:44 pm »
Yea, I have someone (one of Ash's friends) who was interested in writing dialog for the game.  I haven't asked her to write anything for the demo and I still have to write some text for the NPCs that will be around town if you want to assist with that.

You're in contact with her right?

Nice idea. They could also be used to sort of subtly point out places Link can climb, if there are ever any that aren't super obvious.

It might be good to recolor them to browns and or blacks, and remove their head crests so they aren't as tropical, they might fit better into normal Hyrule that way.

I agree, the typical red/green/yellow/blue is way too tropical.

i don't have the time or tools to sprite atm but i've got a logo sketched you could use (yes i spelled thieves wrong...) its the silouette of ganondorf unicolor (like black of any given color) only cut through bye the jewel on his head and the eye... he wears a crown and a thief bandage goes around the zelda logo giving space for the subtitle

edit: oops scans are quite big... i size it down

Wouldn't that give away the twist?

It's possible people are silently lurking, like myself. I haven't played the KH games but I think your fan game concept is fascinating. Don't fret about lack of activity ;)

Priority typically works top-down, so the tasks that are up top are higher priority than the ones lower.

That looks pretty awesome, and ditto, where did you find it?

For the record, I think your work is great. The candy canes could probably use some shading work on the top but I'm not 100% sure -- something looks a little off about them but I can't point it out yet. Good job though.

OH MY GOD EVERYTHING'S CHOCOLATE I LOVE IT. I don't even know what you haters are going on about, you just jealous because you never got your golden ticket. ;p

Ash, you don't need to bring up Mile's comments from a different topic to like, passively aggressively diss him or whatever. He's allowed to voice concerns about whether the field has too many trees or not, just like you and I are allowed to think "nope, the trees are fine". We will discuss anyone's thoughts, concerns, and suggestions in a reasonable manner, because this is a community project, and because the right thing to do is have a reasoned discussion/argument about it. Not to hold it against Miles and personally attack him based on how valid you personally think his concerns are.

To be honest, "does this field maybe have too many trees" is exactly the kind of !@#$% I've pulled a million times anyway. So be nice or at least polite, and I'm going to be eating this laminated chocolate floor. Because I love it. If you think we shouldn't have a chocolate floor we will rationally discuss it over chocolate.

I am not personally attacking Miles for his opinion: I am pointing out his !@#$% attitude. I was just trying to show him that being sarcastic about somebody's excitement when he himself had just sarcastically whined about trees...you see what I'm saying? Don't throw me under the bus when the clear problem here has been his attitude - if you care so much about the community project then you would feel the same. This isn't the first occurrence either.

That is final. No more discussion in this thread about this.

I think I need to set another appointment with my optometrist... I think I damaged something from eye-rolling that hard.

At least he was excited about something cool rather than complaining about trees in a field.

Yeah, honestly the plaid I can definitely excuse, but the other defining details need to be in there.

Alright, some more constructive crit this time now that I'm out of a game:

-The dress doesn't look long enough.
-The dress doesn't look torn at all.
-I can excuse the fact that I see no plaid pattern on the dress but still, might be something to look into?
-She has VERY distinct eyes and you pretty much drew slits. Whatttt.
-Her hair's supposed to be a complete mess.

Just no. Sorry lol.

King of Thieves / Re: larger screen
« on: September 04, 2015, 06:23:47 pm »
There is one risk with resizing an image to fit a larger window: anti-aliasing. You can choose either to keep it or to remove it.
There's no anti-aliasing
Another option (and probably the easier one) would be to use the proper GBA resolution and blow it up without a blurring filter like it's doing now.
That "blurring filter" is anti-aliasing. Agreed, get rid of it.

Did you look up what anti-aliasing actually is?

Yup, that could work too. It's tricky working with games like this with GBA sprites that are tiny.

If we're going to look into full screen, we need to compensate by making the assets in a bigger resolution.
